Are you looking for the best Assetto Corsa experience possible? Well you have come to the right place. This thread will provide you with useful applications, some hints, and altercations to your gameplay. Think of this as a "community patch" that you can't download. Everything listed below is meant for the PC version of the game but some may also apply to the console versions. Please post if you have anything to share with us!

Disclaimer: Make a backup before you do anything! No one is responsible if you screw up and end up breaking your game install/computer.

Tools.png

These are basically essential to your AC experience.

Helicorsa Radar App by Minolin
Provides an aerial view of cars near you.
1. Download zip file.
2. Extract content to Assetto Corsa install location (...Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa)
3. The content will extract itself to app\python\helicorsa (for the app) and content\gui\icons (for the icons). You can overwrite older version without problems.
4. Start AC and enable the 'helicorsa' app in the settings/general:
UI Module Heli.png
5. Start any session. Move the mouse to the right of the screen to show the app sidebar. Scroll down until you find the Helicorsa icon and click on it.
HeliCorsa Pic.png

HINT: You will notice a window will show up, drag it wherever you want to start out. You will notice it will vanish after 5 seconds (you can still drag it). If you have problems to find it, just hide and re-show the app via the sidebar. It will remain completly invisible until you are moving, and there's a nearby car (also moving) - short: it will only be there if needed.

Career Generator by ZioYuri78
If the standard career mode isn't enough, you can add this app to create more events.
If ACCG crash on click "new series" button
edit the settings.ini files and put your path under [AC_PATH] like this:
[AC_PATH]
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa

rewrite it in a clean document, i made some test and i don't know why but looks like the document have put a "space" between [AC_PATH] and the path.

Very small manual https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16641401/ACCG_manual.pdf
(need update, is a old version!)

Steam guide (work in progress)
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=351184865

IMPORTANT
When you load an existing series and you generate it for the first time, will be created a new series folder, after this every time you generate that series his folder will be overwritten!

Your series will be stored into assettocorsa\content\career folder, you no long need the ACCG_series folder!

Every update isn't backward compatible!

The Time track-bar in "new/edit event" form is bugged, use the arrow keys to move it because with mouse still cause many problems! (sorry for this, i need to find a better solution in the code).

In file "cfg\settings.ini" verify the path under [AC_PATH], if is not equal your Assetto Corsa path please correct it or ACCG will not work properly.

In this version you can create, edit and delete series, events and opponents.

Calibrate Wheel Using Wheelcheck and LUT Generator by Akis
Another way to get optimal results for your FFB wheel.
  1. Run WheelCheck
  2. "Max Count" should be at least 50 in box. Lower values work, but 50 or even 100 give better results.
  3. Select "Step Log 2 (linear force test)" and wait until the test stops.
  4. Extract LUTGenerator.zip you've just downloaded wherever you want and run LUTGenerator.exe
  5. Open the csv that was just generated by WheelCheck.
  6. Save the generated LUT in My Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\ folder, eg myLUT.lut
  7. Open ff_post_process.ini located in My Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\ and make sure the TYPE=LUT, ENABLED=1 and CURVE = Generated LUT filename
  8. MIN FORCE should be set to 0 in Assetto Corsa!!

TCS and ABS Options brought up by @Wiz
An interesting tidbit about the traction control and anti-lock brake systems in AC.
Did you know that a lower number TCS is actually a "stronger" TCS? A setting of 1 will be "more intrusive" than a setting of 10. Leaving it at 1 is probably slowing you down. Similar deal with ABS. Setting ABS to 1 will always be the "strongest" ABS.

Pause the Game Right On Your (Logitech) Wheel brought up by @Ameer67
Getting tired of reaching over to your keyboard to press the Esc key? (If you are using a non-Logitech wheel, scroll up and find JoyToKey.)
1. Open the Logitech Profiler.
2. At the top, click Edit > Assignments > Keystrokes.
3. Click New.
4. Hit record. Press Esc on your keyboard and then click stop. Click OK.
5. Hit OK again to close the keystrokes window.
6. On your wheel, press on the button you want the keystroke assigned to. A small line should appear connecting the button to its name.
7. Once you have located the name, click on it and go to Select Keystroke > Keystroke Esc

That's all there is to it. You can use this method to emulate other keyboard presses too.

Tricks.png
Here are a few small tricks you can do to enhance your gameplay. Most of these involve opening a config file so Notepad++ or Notepad2 are optional downloads.

Damage Icon Removal or Resize by @Wiz
Resize or remove that pesky damage icon!
To resize:
Go to your "assettocorsa/content/texture/damage" folder and resize each pic to 188 x 188 or your preferred size. Make a backup of the original files first in case you don't like it. Also, make sure you're saving them in the original format, which is png. Having software that can batch resize images saves a lot of time here.

To change location of icon on screen:
Navigate to assettocorsa/system/cfg and open "damage_displayer.ini". Change these parameters to match the numbers below and save.

POSITION_X=-40
DISTANCE_FROM_CENTER_Y=350

Please note that these parameters may be dependent on what resolution you use. These worked for me but if they don't for you, just keep changing them until you're happy.

To remove:
Just delete the "assettocorsa/content/texture/damage" folder.

Adjust Font and Arrows Above Cars by @Wiz
Alter the appearance of the text and arrow that are displayed above opponents.
Go to assettocorsa/system/cfg/name_displayer.

To remove red arrows above other cars:
Set RENDER_INDICATOR to 0.

To adjust font:
Change FONT_SIZE and FONT_COLOR (numbers are in RGB format) to preference.

Reduce Input Lag by @Johnnypenso
Check to see what the following in-game options are set at: Fullscreen Rendering – checked.

Go to the AC folder, usually located at by default: SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\graphics. Change the MAXIMUM_FRAME_LATENCY to 1 from 0 (was reset to 0 in the 0.2 update). Don't forget to save it before exiting or it will reset to 0.

Increase Simulation Value
A quick and easy way to get Assetto Corsa out of the simcade category.
Step 1. Go to Steam, right click on Assetto Corsa, and select 'delete local content'.

Step 3. Complete your purchase. Download and install the game. You are now all done! Have fun with a game that isn't a simcade.

This is a joke.

Since we're always messing around with ini files, I recommend downloading Notepad2 or Notepad++ and here's why....

(not sure why these pics came out blurry, sorry)

A car.ini file in regular Notepad,
zGogQvP.png

The same car.ini file in Notepad2,
N5Kbaor.png

As you can see it's a little more organized and easier to read.

Notepad2: http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html
Notepad++: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.7.4.html

Also, it might just be me, but I don't like the big red arrow and the large font used for names above players cars. This can be changed in assettocorsa/system/cfg/name_displayer

RENDER_INDICATOR is the big red arrow. Change it to 0 to turn it off.
Here you can also change Font Size, Color and the distance at which they fade in and out, which I believe is in meters.

I... I have? I have no memory of fiddling with the damage display. Either you're mistaking me for someone else or I'm suffering from a concussion like Alonso.
Or I'm suffering from a concussion:guilty: Crap, I don't remember who posted it then, and I don't want to throw it up without permission:scared:

EDIT: Booyah!! It was @Wiz that posted the small damage displayer.

What is the explanation behind this? Why is lag lesser with "1"?

Career mode generator.

If the standard career mode isn't enough, you can add this app to create more career mode things, stuff, whatever.

Gyro

This is actually for DD wheels when they need to stop the oscilation. But I tried it and so did others and it seems that you can catch a slide easier with gyro set to 1.

900° steering wheels lock to lock

Some road cars have more that 900° lock to lock. A G27 900° steering wheel as actually about 875° lock to lock, which means that the steering of cars in AC with more than 875° is not 1:1 with your G27.

There is a way to make it 1:1. This is only necessary for cars with a lock to lock more than 900° (or is it 875° in case of the G27). Problem, you will lose a few degrees of lock to lock with these cars but the steering will be correct and 1:1.

You can test this if you are in cockpit with the steering wheel visibel. Center you steering wheel and look at the virtual steering wheel in AC. You will see that after some degrees, towards the end, the virtual steering wheel in AC starts to turn faster than you are actually steering your G27.

Solution:

Guys, if you want to have the correct ratio even if your physical steering wheel can't reach the full 3.35 turns lock to lock, you have to edit your "controllers.ini" file.
In the section [STEER], set 1208 as LOCK value; then, do the calculation <your steering wheel max degrees>:1208.
For example, considering that you have a 900° wheel, do 900:1208=0,7450331125827815. For G27 users like me, this wheel has not really 900° but something close to 870°. So, 870:1208=0.7201986754966887.

With this method, your physical wheel will match the virtual car wheel with real ratio, and the degrees in excess will be cutted.

[STEER]
JOY=1
AXLE=0
SCALE=0.7201986754966887
LOCK=1208
He talks about 870° for the G27 but it seems that I have a special G27 because mine is 875°, not 870°. :D

This is probably already known but you can adjust the FFB during a race just by hitting + or - key on the numpad thing of you keyboard. The + and - used to be for changing the FOV during a race.

5 degrees difference from 870 is only 0.57% off, so 875 it's still 'around 870'. ;) Mine is 872-ish. Anyone know if it changes over time/wear/etc.? E.g. does it get bigger/smaller over time/with use?

There is a better way to change the resolution in AC.

Use this guide and the changed resolution is even visible in the options. If I change the resolution with notepad, as described in the OP, it doesn't show in the options.

resolution%20AC_zpsawn2vvrl.png

Fullscreen rendering has to be checked if you use a higher resolution than 1920x1080. Use the second of the two identical resolutions.

I tried the 3200x1726 on this 24 inch monitor and AC looks so much better. It is even possible to emulate a 21:9 ratio and have a bigger FOV.

Threads like this are great, but why do we have to depend on individuals and the internet when we want answers to settings in AC? I've been driving AC for a month, and have to Google every setting I have questions about. As far as I know there is no official manual for AC so most setting are guesswork and trial and error. I've used the many AC forums on different websites to help set up my game, but it would be nice to find everything at one site.

I've been meaning to post this one for a while.

Discovered this via EmptyBox, read a comment that someone was mocking him for using TC (even though the cars are meant to really), and he stated that at '1' it is intrusive, and at '12' you can shoot out of hairpins with ease, and to try it.

Never came out of Spa's chicane so fast before. :lol:

That's weird. Why would the numbers be reversed? I just set it to Factory and forget about it though :lol:

I tried editing the .ini files to reduce input lag and shorten the mouse cursor time, but when I save the file it says access denied. I'm already running as Administrator. I tried unchecking "Read Only" on the cfg folder but as soon as I click ok it reverts back :odd: The weird thing is I can edit files in contents/cars folder even though it's also marked Read Only. I'm running Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

Anyone got any solutions?

Been meaning to post this one for a while too....

Tired of reaching for your keyboard to hit the escape button? Or for turning off TCS or ABS? Try JoyToKey! http://joytokey.net/en/

With JoyToKey you can emulate keyboard functions right on your wheel. If you have spare buttons that aren't being used this is a great tool. I had 4 buttons that weren't being used on my CSR so I set them for TCS, ABS, Escape & turning names on/off.

It's pretty easy to set up for the most part. If you have any questions let me know.
