Been meaning to post this one for a while too....

Tired of reaching for your keyboard to hit the escape button? Or for turning off TCS or ABS? Try JoyToKey! http://joytokey.net/en/

With JoyToKey you can emulate keyboard functions right on your wheel. If you have spare buttons that aren't being used this is a great tool. I had 4 buttons that weren't being used on my CSR so I set them for TCS, ABS, Escape & turning names on/off.

It's pretty easy to set up for the most part. If you have any questions let me know.

If you're using a Logitech wheel, you don't even need to install a separate program as the Logitech Profiler has the same functionality built in. I believe you can even add advanced macros, such as a button command that rapidly flashes the headlights on and off at a slower car.

Come on Fanatec... Do something like this

I think they have it as well in the profiler. I have never messed with it, but I believe it does the same thing. Can even make the one "hat" button work as the mouse.

Really? I believe my profiler only has two options, dampening and degrees of rotation.

There are 3 tabs on the top, one of those has it.

Edit: Ok there are 4 tabs, but looks like you can only emulate a mouse not assign buttons as keys.

On my CSL rim I'm not sure if any of that's there, I know the Formula rim has more options in the profiler though. I'll check when I get home, but all my wheel buttons are already mapped so it's not of much concern to me.

Anyone else heard a 'shopping channel' voice when reading this post? :D

With the recent updates the F6 camera sounds have change a bit. When using certain mods like the F2002, the on board cameras sound like they are miles away from the actual car. Anyone know of a work around for this, like maybe editing a cfg file or something?

I tried editing the .ini files to reduce input lag and shorten the mouse cursor time, but when I save the file it says access denied. I'm already running as Administrator. I tried unchecking "Read Only" on the cfg folder but as soon as I click ok it reverts back :odd: The weird thing is I can edit files in contents/cars folder even though it's also marked Read Only. I'm running Windows 10 if that makes any difference.

Anyone got any solutions?

Not sure if you've be answered. If you are running AC or if some of it's processes are running that might prevent you from doing a write/quit via the editor. So try to edit after reboot. And finally, try using word pad as editor if you're not using it already in Win10.

Or Notepad++, it's free and handles all these files well.

Tried both of them, still the same. It's not that I can't edit the files, it's that the folder security settings prevent me from changing anything in the files and I can't change the security settings because it keep reverting back (yes even after reboot). Solution I just moved the files I want to edit to desktop, save it there, and move it back. Annoying, but I'll live.

Wow, I really feel ashamed of myself for forgetting that I have even created this thread! Silly me. Sorry to all who came to this thread looking for an updated OP. To make up for it though, I have given the OP a much needed overhaul so things are much easier to look at. I will hopefully be adding more tomorrow.

I'd really recommend Lutgenerator, an app which optimizes the FFB of your wheel using wheelcheck:

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/lut-generator-for-ac.9740/

Transformed the game for me, whereas the steering always felt a bit on the light side and the FFB signals were spikey, now there is a nice resistance to it and FFB is smooth. You can really feel the weight transfer of the car after using this, and anticipate better on it as a coincidence. 👍

This is like the RealFeel of ISI games. This is amazing 👍

^ Sounds interesting. Although for my liking it might make the center too tight and more prone to oscillation.

FFB effects in general become a lot smoother with this app, you can notice it on the FFB meter that there are a way less spikes and you can feel it holding the rim too. Lowering the cars individual FFB makes the steering lighter without losing much feedback, in case you'd feel the need.

Added. Very useful program.

Is this something that only needs to be done once for all cars? And do you still need to run FFBClip to adjust individual car's gain after this?

All cars yes, individual FFB slider still works to increase/decrease FFB afterwards.

I can second dog's answer, you only have to do it/set it once (which is super easy with how Akis set it up), and then you can still use FFBClip per-car to fine-tune for clipping and such, I've spent most of this afternoon running GT3 cars around for fun against A.I., much less 'notchy' FFB than before. 👍

Thanks guys 👍 I don't how much it will help a lowly wheel like my G25, but I'll give it a try. Annoying as I've been testing every Kunos original car to optimize their FFB using FFBClip (got around half done). Hopefully this won't change the results too much. But even if it does, it'll just mean more driving, which is always a good thing in AC :D

I followed the steps at RD for using LUT FFB, I got to step 7 but I can't seem to find ff_post_process.ini  (yes, I've looked under My Documents and not Program Files).

It's in the 'cfg' folder. Are you sure it's not there? Just let Windows search for it in the 'My Documents/Assetto Corsa' folder if you can't find it, just to be sure.

If it's still not there, just download this .zip, I've included the .ini in there. (just make sure to rename 'wheel.lut' with whatever you have called your file)

Thanks for the file 👍 Trust me, I've checked every folder in both My Docs and Prog Files. I'm not the type to ask for help unless it's a last resort :P

First impressions...are a bit mixed. I tried it first with the Veloce GTS-8 (because I was just driving it before this). Stock FFB on Veloce was amazing. With LUT it's so weak and I can barely feel anything  On the other hand with P1 at Silverstone (my "control" combo that I'm most familiar with) LUT is an improvement (especially forces around the center). With F2002 it's not much different - still too light everywhere. Tried it on smooth and bumpy tracks - bumps and elevation changes are felt a lot better with LUT so that's a plus at least.

With stock FFB center forces are weak but it gets stronger off center. With LUTS it's the opposite (or maybe it's just my brain that needs to adjust). I'll stick with it for a while and optimize using FFBClip, but it isn't the game changer like RealFeel was to rFactor IMO.

That's odd, it should be in the cfg folder in the AC folder inside My Documents.

It's probably best to judge things like this with Kunos cars on Kunos tracks because mod cars/tracks can be really hit or miss with how the FFB feels. With the all Kunos combo you tried it felt better, so that's your benchmark. In mod cars that feel light try turning up the in-car FFB until it feels better, hopefully you can find a happy medium. And if you do want to test mod cars it's best to do that on Kunos tracks since they will always feel better than a mod track (some mod tracks feel like you're driving on glass and no car is going to feel good).

There's also another FFPP option you can try, the Gamma setting. For now I prefer this setting on my wheel (with a Gamma value of 0.8), it seemed to really amp up all the information coming through the wheel and things came alive. With the LUT my wheel felt a bit more even with the distribution of force/weight but it felt very light and seemed to numb a lot of the info from curbs, road, etc. (but then I have constant problems with the FFB of my wheels so my results may be very different than the norm).

Yeah I know mod cars can be hit and miss...That Veloce though feels absolutely amazing when I tried it with stock FFB. Then I switched to LUT and ehhh where's all my FFB gone? :P You're right though with Kunos original cars & tracks so far it has been good. Just means more work for modders I guess

I'll give the gamma setting a try next. If it's doing the same thing as brake gamma, then it's basically adjusting the linearity of the FFB (which is what LUT is trying to do in a roundabout way). <1 is stronger center. >1 is stronger off center. 1 is perfectly linear. What line in the FFPP file should be changed to enable it? I don't have the stock file so I can't compare.

I believe you change "TYPE" from "LUT" to "Gamma" and that's it. You can then adjust the Value a couple lines below that, I found 0.5 to be rather heavy so I increased it to 0.8 which brought down the weight a bit. I haven't experimented with it beyond that. I ended up creating a ff_post_process.ini for LUT and one for Gamma so I can just drop each one into the folder to quickly change back and forth.

I just did some more testing, all with P1 at Silverstone National. Stock FFB (PPFF off + 10% minimum force under settings) --> Gamma 0.5 (0% min force from hereafter) --> Gamma 1.0 --> Gamma 1.5 --> LUT. This time I couldn't really feel that much of a difference between the settings. The minimum force does a good job of covering the non-linearity of the stock FFB. Higher gamma (>1) feels more heavy in the center (opposite to what I expect). LUT does feel slightly more natural though, but it's difficult to say with absolute certainty that it's not just placebo effect (or me getting used to the car).

I think I'm just gonna take a leaf from Brandon's book and have 2 files. Use LUT for stock Kunos cars, and use stock FFB for mods that don't feel quite right with LUT.
