I genuinely wonder if the people that bemoan all the performance SUVs over "pure" sports cars are out there buying the latter. New, from the dealers. I'm guessing not. It's great to have these high-minded ideals on what a performance vehicle should be, but the companies are simply going where the money is. Much like video games, if you like something, vote with your wallet.

That's the ultimate irony of all this. But then again, we're all pretty much champagne tastes on cheap beer budgets.

It's hard to take seriously opinions of performance SUV's devaluing prestige sports car brands from people who might never sniff at actually owning one, SUV or sports car.
