Johnny Rodger will not be competing anymore. I will be racing my team in independent series. Apex MotorsportATCC S2 Season Preview
After one of the most successful Season 1's in recent memory, the Australian Touring Car Championship returns for what is lined up to be an uber competitive Season 2 which will be full of high drama, and high octane thrills and spills. From Tokyo to Bathurst, the championship is expected to go right down to the wire yet again in both Group's. Now, let's take a look at the racers;
@NW48
The Season 1 Group A Champion and Overall Champion will be looking to defend his titles against strong opposition this season, with the majority of it coming from his fellow Corvette factory team of @FutureF1 & @rcb929. In Season 1, NW48 faced stern competition from his teammate @Timlour who, in terms of Race wins, got the better of him. NW48 got off to a rocky start in Season 1, placing in the bottom half for most of the opening races due to some amatuer mistakes. After reevaluating his driving style, NW48 started to pick up pace heading into the latter half of the season, having numerous battles for the highlight reel with @Pubs16 and @Mikey24.
@Timlour
Timlour had a breakout season in the ATCC coming within a race of winning the inaugural title. Timlour had an incredibly consistent season, rarely dropping out of the top half. Battles were a plenty between the Corvette of Timlour and the GT-R of @Pubs16 as they developed a friendly rivalry through mid-to-front pack battles. Timlour's best drive came in the form of a clean sweep of the Mid-Field Raceway round clocking in some scarcely believable times. Timlour will definitely be one to watch in Season 2.
@FutureF1
FutureF1 was a championship favourite alongside Mustafur and Ph1sher heading into Round 1 after showing an amazing pace at the Pre-Season rounds at Tokyo and Silverstone. However, it wasn't to be as FutureF1 pulled out of the series after time got the better of him after just one round. Still, 2015 GTP ES LMP2 Le Mans Winner is a favourite to snatch the title from NW48 come seasons end, but his main challenger is expected to be his teammate, @rcb929.
@rcb929
rcb929 is a fresh face to the ATCC, but definitely not a fresh face to online racing. rcb929, along with his teammate are veterans of online racing, together racking up 141 race entries with a combined 47 wins. Definitely a force to be reckoned with. rcb929 will be looking to improve on his 36 race win haul when he takes to the track for the first time in the ATCC. He'll also be hoping to grab the ATCC title from NW48 and add it to his impressive count of 3 Championships.
@Pubs16
Pubs16 was a dark horse in Season 1 with his mighty GT-R. Scoring his first podium in a GTP series at the first round in Tokyo, Pubs16 consistently finished on the brink of podiums, or on the podium in an impressive display that would have guaranteed him a Top 3 finish in the championship had he not missed as many rounds due to prior commitments.
@LITTLEBLACKO
Not a new face in the ATCC having done one prior race in a Group B Merc in which he won one of the two races. Since then he hasn't featured in an ATCC race for numerous reasons. Now driving a Group A GT-R, LITTLEBLACKO will be sure to make the step up to Group A in the best possible way by beating the regulars of Group A in what would be an upset podium.
@Johnny Rodger
Not much is known about Johnny Rodger as he is a new face to the ATCC. We haven't heard from him since he signed up. But driving a Group A GT-R alongside @LITTLEBLACKO makes him an unknown quantity heading into the championship season.
@Mikey24
After an impressive debut in the ATCC, Mikey24 will be looking to grab a bagful of wins and the championship. Hampered by several disconnections, Mikey24's championship charge was handicapped, but nonetheless, he still managed to grab a Top 3 Group A Championship finish after a long season. Still armed with his GT-R, Mikey24 will be pushing the favourites all the way.
@Jordiehamz
Somewhat the old head despite being young as he is only one of two Group B driver's from last year still in it. An up and down start to the season saw Jordiehamz drop in and out of championship contention, but after the mid-season break, Jordiehamz turned the tables and went on a consistent and impressive run of podiums under the mentorship of the Group B champion, @Aaroh. Switching from the IS-F to the Merc for Season 2, Jordie has made the gamble from a tested and proven success machine, to a dark horse with just one win to it's name in two races. Will it pay off?
@lxmmy
lxmmy is looking to make the most of his first ATCC event since pulling out after last season's Tokyo event due to Sport commitments, taking his JPS-inspired BMW M4 Coupe' to the top of the time sheets in both Pre-Season tests. One of two original Group B driver's from last year, lxmmy is going to attempt to dominate in similar fashion to @Aaroh last season.
@Thomas2012
Thomas2012 is another one of the fresh faces for the ATCC and will be holing that his PS3 can hold on for a majority of the season. Thomas2012, in the IS-F, was a regular in the Top 3 of times in the two Pre-Seaso tests and will be an outside chance to challenge @lxmmy for the Group B title.
@RESHIRAM5
RESHIRAM5 will be determined to not go down without a fight despite being a GTP Race Series rookie of sorts. After a troubled debut with the problem child Hyundai Genesis at last year's Tokyo round, RESHIRAM5 pulled the pin on the ATCC Program due to the lateness of the events that would more often then not creep into the early hours of Sunday. Look out for RESHIRAM5 to be a contender for podiums in the very near future, and quite possibly a win or two.
@GremlinWon
GremlinWon is a new face to the ATCC and will be looking to make an impact early to help his championship chances. A mid lack runner in the opening tests, GremlinWon has the ability and the chance to challenge for podiums and the odd win. Once he can get a stable rear end on the Merc, the podiums and wins should start to roll in.

Thanks Pubs!What an awesome preview!!! Cannot wait.
Although, I'm sorry guys but have dinner at the in-laws tonight, hopefully can get home fairly early but I would say I'll be missing the first race unfortunatelybut I'm hoping I can be back in time for the remaining races.
Sounds great, don't have to wait around for me, go as you like. I'll let you know closer to when I know if I'll make any race or not butThanks Pubs!
We might push the first race back a few minutes if we can, as I date say a majority of us might need some extra time to get reacquainted with our cars, so no need to rush home.👍
Sports Soft.What was wondering what tyres we be using for the 86GT race and could you change my number to 19 please?
And hope nissan winSounds great, don't have to wait around for me, go as you like. I'll let you know closer to when I know if I'll make any race or not but.
If I don't make it, best of luck to everybody for Round 1, especially to the newcomers! I hope that it's a great turnout and a great couple of races for everybody.
Sorry for DPSports Soft.👍
The race will be after Race 2 and will be a short 7 Lap race.![]()
Yup. That's absolutely fine!Just an FYI I'm in the BMW now as I couldn't tame the merc. I hope that's OK
Thanks @Thomas2012!I just want to wish an early good luck to everybody, I'm sure it'll be a great start to the season. I'll be happy with a finish! 👍
Oh and @NW48 I loved that pre season review!
So, in Group B, hopefully the Aussies (@Thomas2012, @RESHIRAM5, @Jordiehamz) can overcome the Poms (@GremlinWon, @lxmmy) and do something the Aussie Cricket team can't do currently.![]()
woukd be good, I will have to talk to @lxmmy thenMaybe us Aussies should do the same if we're not in teams already!
The thread idea won't be happening now as it's a bit pointless, if I'm honest. But specs for the 86 Racing are to remain stock while the Formula Ford specs are still in testing.@NW48 When will the 86GT and Formula Ford specs and thread be open
Any wings for 86I like that idea a lot.
Room will be up in 6 minutes.
@rcb929, I'll leave the club open as public for one night only so you can join. The Club ID is; 1031235👍
