Automobilista 2 - Discussion Thread

Speaking of the Fusca HC2, how fun is this car? I had to use it last night because of this discussion. You can really get a nice slide in the corners for fun at the expense of your tires but wow, the feeling of being on the edge of grip is superb.
One of the best things about this update is how no matter if it's a car with 150hp or 500hp, fast or slow, there is always this sense of danger you're going to overdrive and spin. You can feel in the wheel that the tires will not hold if you push any more. I have spun just about every car that I've driven so far searching for what it's new limit is and each time I did spin, I understood why. It was realistic, I deserved to spin and figured out the limit.
And somehow doesn't the spins even feel better? The tire contact with the track has been significantly updated and is very immersive. Could sit here and write walls of text on what a good job they did amending some of the issues AMS2 had before.

Just had a race on here and not played it in months, obviously been patched since and oh my, now I have a Fanatec DD wheel it is insanely good, first off it looks absolutely fantastic on my mid hi-ish rig (4070) and the AI were the best I’ve ever raced against, obviously this could be attributed to the fact I’ve not raced on this sim in quite a while, but I actually felt like racing proper racers, ffb was immense, now I’m realising why Scaff adores this so much, loving the new UI interface too.

Yeah, I have Scaff to thank also for picking this up.

It was a long time ago now, but I recall reading a post of his where he urged people to give it a go. At the time there was a demo available, I can't remember the track but pretty sure it was with the Polo.
Being honest I didn't gel with the demo, uninstalled it and moved on. Months later and Scaff was still talking positively about it and there was a Steam sale on so thought bugger it and bought it.

Since then, I've purchased all the DLC and will continue to do so even if the content isn't of particular interest to me purely to support Reiza. The passion they have for AMS2 is obvious.

The 1.6 update continues the progression AMS2 has made, it's now my go to Sim/Game for pretty much all my racing. I don't have time to commit to online racing and when you find the sweet spot for yourself AI wise AMS2 gives a fantastic racing experience. The physics feel good, I'm no physics expert by a long shot but the cars feel 'natural' to drive to me.

Some of the new tracks AMS2 I have never even heard of is a huge bonus, Ibarra for is a great example of this. That downhill section after the main straight is just awesome.

The track list really makes AMS2 feel different than every other game since it's not just the usual big name European, North American and Japanese tracks (granted they are thankfully there as well for the most part). It's opened my eyes to so many great tracks in South America that aren't Interlagos.

The best part is there's still some interesting content in the works as well as the long awaited career mode.

Absolutely and while not complaining for personal reasons would also like to see some more Australian tracks and content.
I certainly can't blame Reiza for having a large amount of South American content.

I'd ask but know you can't give out the info anyway 👍, the career mode is something I'm really looking forward to. The way I see it is that it's likely to open my eyes to even more combinations I would never normally try.

If becoming an AMS2 Club Member was still open I'd be all over it. 👍

I should start asking for commission 😀

Yep, the demo doesn't let it shine unfortunately

Same here, I love a title with a track list that let's us try stuff thats hard to find elsewhere, for me that's a trait both AMS2 and RRE share.

I have been enjoying the latest updates. On the weekend that the updates dropped. Encountered an unexpected situation where by Moza R5 plug in to the pedals completely broke. This was a result of me taking my sim wheel stand to a relatives for the holiday. This issues was like a punch in the gut. Ended up using a PS5 controller for a few weeks. Which actually is not that bad. I would honestly say if that is all you have it would still be a fun experience in AMS2.

Choose to go with Sim Lab P500 as replacement pedals. The next day after had placed order with a 3rd party sim equipment supplier. Receive an email that they no longer had any in stock and that could be close to 4 weeks before receiving any. I wrote back and informed them completely unacceptable and that would prefer to cancel the order. The next day or so they wrote back saying they found a set and would be delivered in a week or so. Using them now, however do not believe that I would recommend the P500 pedals. I have not really try to make any adjustments or change the brake springs. Might do this in late January.

Also purchased a MSI 40 inch wide flat screen for reasonable price. This was a good purchase and does the job. Size wise a 50 inch TV would most likely be optimal.

Purchased the IMSA content the other day.

As we all know AMS2 is really great with the update. I have spent a lot of track time on Jerez Moto. Really like the medium sized tracks the best. P1, P2 and P4 current favorite car classes.

Tried LFM one time so far. Was punted off the track in first lap and car turned upside down. Will wait for different car/track combo before trying again. Really would just like to find a group of like minded racers where more on casual side and do not have forced interior and forces manual gears on. I do use interior most of time just do not necessarily want to be forced to use that.

What I have been doing for the last several weeks is to pick a track and essentially mainly use that track for a weekend or week. To better get to know the circuit etc. Jerez Moto has become one of my favorite tracks. Using Silverstone 1975 now and believe it will also become a favorite. It would be nice it we could create a favorites list for tracks.

Had a good day with a few sessions with Low Fuel Motorsports today.

1) GT4 at one of my previous simple go to tracks.
Almost avoided the 1st lap carnage, except as
a car was comming back on track hit me in
the rear and have 100 damage points. I
decided to pit quickly and fix the damage. Full
lap caution came out middle of the race. I
was able to catch the rear of 2nd pack of cars
by time went green. Finished middle of the
field which I thought was good for only 2nd
LFM session.
2. Second session same cars and track. This
time avoided all of the first laps instances.
Towards middle of the race spun out one
time. Maybe running to close to edge of
track or brake a little off or maybe car got
unbalanced. Just seems like you can take
the same line and brake/corner speed lap
after lap and then out of the blue the front
tires loose grip. Did a quick pit stop mid
race and still finished mid pack.
3. Third session, should of know better. Ran
stock card at one of the tracks that start with
"V" but not Virgina. That track was not
meant for stock cars. Finished the race,
except was very much a struggle and very
boring. Do not plan on using that track any
time soon.

To summarize it does appear that LMF has good potential for online racing with AMS2.

Did you notice dirt on the track? Was there someone in front of you? I've noticed that dirty air is a thing that works well in AMS2. I've followed cars around some corners and understeered pretty bad due to lack of downforce. Dirt brought on track also can cause issues.

Funny thing about the V tracks you mentioned. It's either Velopark or Velo Citta and Stock Cars Brazil run at both of those tracks. 😄
