Oversized turbos. It's really dumb for the parts and is terrible to drive but I have a soft spot for vrooooFWEEEEE and the neck snapping acceleration for the 2/10th of a second before you have to upshift and lose boost

Visited SEAT's heritage collection recently and one car in particular stood out as a guilty pleasure:

The SEAT Marbella Playa. Basically, one of the many beach car concepts that have appeared through the years. Reminded me both of the Felicia Fun (another guilty pleasure):

...and the Citroen Tangara 3CV Dune, which I discovered a few years ago at a car show.

There's just something wonderful about how they're cars that don't take themselves too seriously. They're utilitarian at heart, and ultimately useful, but also bright and cheerful and a bit silly.

There's also a little jealousy in there for people who can use such things in the appropriate climate - the Mediterranean coast, say.

The "pre-facelift" 996 Carrera (base model, not the S, not 4, just a Carrera), I really love. It's gotta be one of the least desirable 911s out there, but I want one. And since no one else wants them, I can grab one super cheap. Soon I will.

I think the biggest problem with the 996 was its M96/M97 engine problems, the biggest failure is the Intermediate Shaft Bearing Failure, Rear Main Seal Leaks, Chain Tensioner Failures, as other's. But with spending a bit of money and replacing those parts, you're 996 will be well, and less prone to the engine blowing up.

I think another thing is, people didn't like where Porsche wen't with the design of the the headlights, and tail lights. I guess people just didn't like it. But for the cost this is currently, its the best bang for the buck for a sports car.

Yup, the IMS bearing was an issue on the 996s as well as the 986 Boxsters, which is why they are dirt cheap today. But the fix isn't as expensive as you might think if you find the right place. The job scares people away, but if you buy the car in running order, have the IMS bearing replaced right away, you can have a seriously good sports car for nothing. Cheapest 911 you'll buy.

^ So much the I would want to own one! Hmm, the Flex Ecoboost or this? (same price range)

This is a thread for guilty pleasures. This is just a pleasure.

I'm the type of guy that loves cars like the Lotus Elise, Viper GTS, TVR Sagaris etc. While I don't like all the newer tech behind cars, I can acknowledge that it does improve them. Thereby making it a guilty pleasure car within my frame of mind.

Civic coupes up to this point, in my eyes, have just been two-door sedans, as I feel a coupe ought to have proper haunches. It's not enough for me to want one, but it's actually quite handsome.

Honestly, I don't feel guilty about liking these. I think it's a great performance coupe in its own right.
I think it being a guilty pleasure comes more from the whole JDM fanboi, yo crowd that especially gravitate to the R32 and anything after it. That being said, I'll take one too if I could because it's my favorite of the R32-R34 lineage GTRs.

I've always had a soft spot for the 996. Loved it as a kid, back when playing Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed. Feel in love with the maroon Targa 1/18 scale model that Maisto made.

I'd love to modify one.... Something about the SC430 I like.

Super GT body looks amazing.

The R33 GTR. The middle child of the GTRs. Not as legendary as Godzilla, and no where near as famous as a R34 for obvious reasons. Now if only I could import one.

I don't get the hate for the R33. (Personally) I absolutely love it and would take it over the R32 and R35 any day.

Been seeing more and more Saturn SW2's driving around locally. Growing to like them...
