autopilot speed

Hello everyone, I just downloaded GT sport, but i found out everyone was so much faster than me. Later it seemed when I pressed options on my controller and it turned to autopilot my car just accelarated really fast. without auto pilot i can’t seem to get higher than my fourth gear but with autopilot sixth gear easily. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like your R2 button is broken. Try another controller or change the accelerator to another button.

Do people really use R2 for acceleration? That means they use a different button for the brake. (?)

I've always used the sticks (left for steering, right for gas/brake). I figured everyone who used a controller used the same thing.

Most common way to accelerate when using the DS4, pretty sure about that. And then L2 for braking.

Years ago I used the R2 for acceleration and a L2 for brake, before I got a wheel. Most people I know use the same buttons, but again it's up the player on what buttons or sticks to use on their controller.

That's how I use my DS4 and I think that's the default setting in GTS. I am also playing again to GT6 on a PS3 and I've changed the default setting to match this configuration.

And I hope someday I'll have a wheel 😅

Using the triggers for throttle/brake is better because you get more control over the car since you can get on the brakes sooner. Rather than move the stick from all the way up to all the way down, you can let go of R2 and press L2 at the same time. You should try switching, once you get used to it you'll notice a difference in your driving.

I use the same buttons. But it seems we're in the minority here...

For those who use the R2/L2 combo for accel/brake, what buttons do you use for gear shifts?

Wow, looks like my muscle memory is going to struggle to adjust! I was constantly downshifting and not braking, so used to having the brake under my right thumb! This will take some miles to rewire the brain!!

It's a lot more immersive :)
Tried it but not convenient at all if you play laying down your couch, I usually play with the hands and controller leaning on the thighs. To use motion steering I have to keep my arms in the air, too tiring 😅 it could be interesting to try some kind of wheel contraption, with a support for the controller rotating on an axis, but it won't work on the couch.

Tried the triggers and motion steering. Completely blew my mind. I think having used the triggers as gear shifts since about 2005 I'm too used to that layout - so I swapped back to my old set-up. I prefer the feeling of the triggers for gear shifts, as it's more like a flappy paddle gearbox anyway.

Well, yes. Just like you use two feet with two pedals. Sure a controller is not a wheel but it still makes sense to me rather than using one stick to do both. Imagine braking in a real car by putting your foot under the throttle and pushing it up.

98% of the time in a real driving situation you lift UP off the gas pedal when you push DOWN on the brake. In fact you use the same foot for gas and brake, and the left foot is for the clutch (if you have one) or is not used at all in driving.
Never have seen anyone use both feet for gas and brake. That is same for my use of the right stick for my gas/ brake

Sure but they're still two independent pedals, which the stick isn't.

But anyway of course it's just personal preference.

Ever heard of left foot braking?? You can balance a number of cars better by apply some brake while feathering the throttle through turns.

Watch some videos of cars on track where they show the pedals as well and you'll see how often the best drivers use both feet for the two or three pedals.

I use both feet for gas and brake and the paddles on the wheel for Manaul gear shifting, but I am quicker using Auto though.

That depends on how fast you want to drive. Drivers who go fast use both their right and left foot for braking, often in the same corner. If you have ever seen a foot cam on some of the road races it's astounding how magical some of theses guys can "dance" on 3 pedals with 2 feet.

Not quite sure how we got here though.

Ok there is a difference between race driving and real life driving, I am not a race driver, my experience is totally street and highway, my apologies if I offended with my opinions

This is retired NASCAR driver Ricky Rudd's footwork at Sears Point on the road course, who says oval guys can't drive? Watch him pump the brakes to push the caliper pistons out before a heavy braking zone and also notice how he lightly uses the brakes to balance the car.
