22 at the moment, didn't really get into drifting until 2005 ish when I tried it in GT4. The thought of me being 22, turning 23 next April is kinda scary too. Old fart.

What is the point in this thread?

I'm trying to figure out what type of person likes drifting on Gran Turismo 5. It takes a certain mental age to do what we do which is why I wanted to see the other side of the TV screen and to see who people are.

In other words curiosity

I'm 30 and been drifting since GT3. I have also drift in real life and attend few amateur events at evergreen speedway. Now busy with work and no funding for drift hobby so I here online drifting when I can:)

Experience much! 👍

I am imagining that in future there will be a thread called:
Drifters: Show a picture of yourself.

I don't think I'll go that far.

If I really wanted to know that I'd stalk them on Facebook

HAHAHA!!!

27, my mug can be see on the DA video "how many people fit in an elevator." My vinyl has been rocked by a number of FD drifters. I love hip hop, drinking, smoking, and taking long walks on the beach at sunset...

Hmmm Racing Lagoon... RPGish racing game from the Square Enix, with pretty much decent physics...

I have good memories from this game, even not understanding a dimme of japanese.

Epic facepalm @ people not knowing what VHS is.

LOL jk, just look at my previous post here and see what people used before DVDs.

I am 16, I personally think age shouldn't have anything to do with the skill you have over a video game.
It's also hilarious how people are being so pretentious about drifting as well. Acting like they truly knew it just because they knew about it before Tokyo drift came out.

smh...

with how some people ACT I would say quite young.......there is a lot of know it all kids on gt5 that will tell you you don't know anything and that real drifters use race slicks and that comfort tires on gt5 are unrealistic.......but what's unrealistic is a 500 plus horsepower car that CAN'T burn out WELL past a corner because the sticky tires are gripping so hard and the corner got drifted "skidded" at warp speed.

it's funny how you can be told you are a nobody and don't know what you are talking about as you drift the WHOLE track blowing smoke in their face as they grip and hit the wall. even got booted by the Gtplanet member. can we name names here or what??

EDIT I have NO PROBLEM with young drifters on gt5........just some have NO respect whatsoever. if you are young and respectful AND drift good then more power to ya

This is VHS...

:dunce: and that was sarcasm, which apparently doesn't travel too well over the net....dude I'm 26(the second time I mentioned that in this thread), I'm welll aware of the days of vhs...and its eventual phase out to the dvd....really? Did you think someone who mentioned Betamax wasn't aware of vhs? Get this man gingko balboa or st johns wort or whatever they have for memory....lol

Well I did know drifting before Tokyo drift, my mom is a libraian, and one day she brought home an initial D book, I read it, and obviously liked it, Tokyo drift sucked ass, and did a s#it job at capturing the drifting culture, not just the Japanese side, but as a whole. Because like I said before, it turned drifting a once noble driving technique, mastered only by the patient, into a commercialized, in your face, competitive, bragging right.

It's the kids with all the "how do I drift", "Do you use the ebrake", "throttle vs ebrake" "comfort hards vs whatever" "anyone got a drift setup for..." threads. And they make daft comments like "the tyres don't feel real" "this that whatever doesn't feel real" when they've either never drove a car in their lives or worse, have a couple years experience, pulled a few handbrakes in the snow and are now DRIVING GODS with solid opinions based on no actual racing experience whatsoever.

And I don't either, lol, but I know this.

28 been drifting legally since 2007 got my first drift car in 2004 now living in Japan where I just finished with my first season of D1 Divisional.

Edit

ahh this is about GT Drifting... Started drifting in GT2 fun to do on my downtime online is super fun.

23, been "powersliding" cars on racing and car games since the days of GT1/2 I suppose

Been drifting properly since the early NFS games etc and probably only thing I done on Prologue and first thing I did on GT5 was go drifting :sly:

Used have a DF-pro for GT4 and rally games on my PS2 and PS3 but wasn't brilliant for drifting on GT4. Got a G25 last Autumn though ready for GT5 and only really getting the hang of skidding with it now :guilty:

Drift in real-life too, since I was about 17 on the street and started focusing doing it more on the track over the last year or so but I've been around drifting since I was about 13/14 with the likes of D1-irl, Pro-drift and obviously watching stuff on the net.

Also work on drift-cars too in terms of building them setting up or making custom parts for drifting (pre-dominantly BMW stuff)

Jai
I've been drifting with a wheel since I was 6, I'm now 13, nearly 14.

Awesome!!! Some of the best drifters in the world have learnt on racing games like Gran Turismo so looking forward to seeing how you do in a couple of years if you manage to get out on track in RL :)

how you been bud?? have not drifted with you in quite a while!

Im swapping between die dozen of times playing Demon´s Souls, losing my mojo in GT5, and getting in GT5, drift a few time and be shamed of myself when i drift with the masters that i was used to tandem with. All in a vicious circle... i must break it anyhow...
