As far as I know, the DirectSensor (CSW V2) is located on the steering axis and not the hub. A hub is, I believe, the part where the wheel (rim) is connectec to, with or without a quick release system. According Fanatec's website, one hall sensor is mounted on the motor and a second hall sensor is mounted to the axis.
The last part of your last sentence doesn't make sense to me. "... a servo motor mounted directly to the hub"? The hub is mounted on the shaft of the direct drive servo motor.
The CSW v2 is too expensive for what it is (personal opinion). A little more money and I have an OSW, which I definitely prefer over the CSW V2.
