B-Spec can be boring sometimes, when your Bob either has a car that is too damn slow, or when the car is just so much faster than the competition that they have no chance. Today was not one of those days.
I ran the Tuned Car Championship with a Ruf CTR2, and boy it was fun! There were two other Rufs, a CTR Yellow Bird and a BTR that were head to head with my Bob in his purple CTR2. The more I pushed my Bob the more the other Rufs pushed, and in four of the races in the championship the race had three Rufs in the podium, all within a second or two of each other. There was also an Amuse S2000 GT1 that would put up a fight for two or three laps but then would fall out once the Rufs were pushed. None of the other rice burners could keep up with the German machines either.
The last race was the best, on Tokyo R246, my Bob was in third place on the fourth out of six laps, following the BTR and CTR. I hadn't given any instructions and let Bob do his thing. Seeing there were two laps left I started pushing Bob, telling him to pass the others. By the fifth lap he left the Yellow Bird behind and was sniffing the BTR's tail pipe. On the seventh lap the BTR, no doubt pushing hard too, went sideways on that high speed S on the back of R246 and my Bob passed him, smoking the tires to high heavens. On the last few curves you could see a high speed procession of rear engined cars, with the purple CTR2 in first, the green BTR a car length behind him, and a yellow CTR a bit down the road. The three German cars crossed the finish within 1.2 seconds, my Bob taking the win for the Championship. That race was a lot of fun, and gave me as much thrills as a real live race.
If only more B-spec races were like this, with well matched cars...
