Today, May 1st at Imola in 1994 was a dark day. A great driver left us tragically in a crash at the high speed Tamburello corner. Not only was he a great driver, but he was a great man. I've been reading my Senna book all day at school today.

Pay your respects here.

RIP Ayrton.

RIP Ayrton. I have watched my Senna DVD about 3 times Yesterday. You will never be forgotten.

I was too young to know who Senna was, I was only 3 years old when he died, but it wasn't until year's later that he started to come up as I was becoming more interested in Formula 1. For the record, Senna became my favorite driver before the movie came out and even before Top Gear did that little tribute to him. Anyway, as an aspiring Racing Driver, Senna is who I aspire to be like...a great Racing Driver and a great Human Being. He was more than a Racing driver, he also cared about people. He knew there was more to life than just racing, he cared about his community back home and did what he could to help. For me, that is something I aspire to do...to be a great racing driver and to help those who are in need of help. 👍

Anyway, here is a tribute video that I'd like you all to see, created by the great "Antti":

Is that him in the 190E?

Yes.

When the new Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit reopened in May 1984 after undergoing major re development, the inaugural race was a celebrity affair arranged by Daimler-Benz, providing 20 identcal cars in road spec with roll cages and wider wheels. A star studded field of former and future GP drivers were invited to race including Stirling Moss, Denny Hulme, Alan Jones and may other ex world champions. Young and unkown Ayrton Senna da Silva had just made his GP debut and won the race with Niki Lauda finishing in 2nd place.

Yes I knew that. That was a special event.
