I ran some more B-spec last night and even though progress comes in little bity steps, I can see both my drivers improving with time. I'm glad B-spec is a separate path in the game. It's as if I have two games on one disc with A-spec supporting B-spec in terms of equipment prep for future B-spec races.

Update for my B-Spec drivers :D

That is awesome. So far I've only managed T.Sato :D

Here is my B Spec. team. Mostly F1 crew past and present with my 1st driver just a test pilot.

I was name hunting so had to get rid of a few drivers. The only one i cared about getting the first and last name right was Ayrton Senna and he took me a few hours of flipping names to find him.

Got really lucky with Fernando Alonso but the others need work. Not sure I will bother as it is very time consuming.

Notice Senna has had only 4 races and he is level 12. They catch up real fast on the tougher tracks, just make sure you give them a stable car. Just finished another race with him and he is level 14.

Good luck with your crews. Never knew B Spec could be so much fun.

By racing he gets better. But i doubt you can teach him as realistically as you think. As in i doubt you are training him like a neural net or something.

Its just to vague for me. Without defining exactly how the drivers get better PD have left us guessing how to play B-Spec. My level 7 driver can't win the Vitz cup, a level 3 event, in a car that has about 40HP more than any car in the field (it also has other tuning done) , if I just upgrade the car further so he can win it by having the faster car he has obviously learned nothing, if the game expects me to repeat the event continuously until he can win then screw that, thats not enjoyable, thats work.

My driver V.Baron is just about as fast as me on this track with the GT-R. Sub 1min. He's at level 15. So the AI can be fast, but Polyphony Digital for some reason likes to dumb em down :(

630+ hp GT-R Spec V, 2nd half of video, 3:12 onwards

I got M.Schumacher! My first driver is Higuchi, can't remember jis initial, he rules :D I was racing against a K.Yamauchi!

Passed on D.Hill, S.Yamamoto and not soo good F.Good, S.marks (lol)

I wanted K.Kobayashi but wasn't willing to wait that long. Gonna delete my guy Winkler.

I'm a little pissed right now... I gaave the Toyota 7 Race Car to my B-Spec crew after i finished the Historic Race Cars Cup easily with it. They got Gold on Deep Forest quite easily as well, but they completely fail on Cote d'Azur.

It seems like all of my B-Spec drivers forget that they're supposed to actually overtake the cars in front of them, instead of bumping into them time and time again. Add to thatt that they seemingly like to relinquish their position as well, and it seems to be entirely hopeless.

Guess I have to grind some levels in B-Spec... maybe they'll be up to snuff then.

Can anyone explain how retiring a driver works? Is there a point where a driver gets past his prime and is no longer worth keeping? If so, I'm kind of glad I didn't spend so much time name hunting!

You can retire a driver anytime you want and the slot is open again to be filled. I haven't seen if they will retire on there own though.

My level 21 driver kills it on deep forest with this car but sucks oN CoteD. Hits the RAIL EVERYTIME!!!!

UPDATE: Tried again when he was Lv22, and he was in 3rd until lap 7 when he finally agreed to pass the rocket car thingies..and took first place with 2 seconds to spare......Now I will work on Leveling up my other few drivers one is at 16, the others are 5 and below, so that might take a bit.

I wish you could lock the maintain speed command :(
Especially since we can't even pause the game.

I don't want my driver cooling down and getting over taken!

So true. I found myself pushing the "pause" button out of habit Saturday when I felt the need to hit the wc. I just sat there laughing at myself.....and then crying because PD doesn't think we need wc breaks.

The think about b-spec is that it gives you the oppotunity to participate in the game while you are doing something else, eg homework or having dinner.

I think what DrTrousserPlank means is the bar next to the driver's helmet in the driver selection screen. It is simply a graphic expression of driver progression toward the next rank.

Edit: There is another bar at the bottom of the same screen. Maybe that's the one he's asking about?

Does anyone know how the "career" bar works and what it indicates? because it doesn't just move along linearly with the driver level.

I think it depends on how many different races and cars the driver has done and driven

The drivers with least potential might max out their career faster

My bob won the festa cavalino race in a 458! Took a few goes and a little upgrading, had to get it to 650bhp and lightened lol.

He managed a 1:56.1 - I tried it in A-Spec and got 1:55.8....from a standing start in 7th place! 1:47.9 on lap 3.

F40, woohoo! Except...thing handles like an absolute dog. disappointing.

Hey guys, what do y'all use in Pit Strategy for your driver strength? 10 or 20%? Also sometimes I do NOT need to change tires....do you HAVE to? OR can u just change drivers some way??? Thanks for any help or guidance!!

I don't have them auto-pit at all. I just send them into the pits whenever I need to change my driver manually, which is usually halway through the race.

If I leeft them on that 10% setting, they'd start pitting too early, getting me in trouble...

I use 10%. The longer your driver stays out the less pits stops you have to make. If I am watching the race I will turn the pit stop off till the driver starts to lose control and his lap times start to drop off.
On the longer races I can't watch everything is set to auto. Just make sure you have a faster car so you can build up time for pit stops.

Yes cool, that is basically exactly how I do it as well, usually have a huge lead to where I could make an EXTRA pit IF I had too....so %10, figured that was about right.

Still cant see where you can NOT change tires if you don't want to though. Anyone?
