Barrichello gets screwed

And to the bone-heads who bet on Barrichello, why on earth would you lay money on a guy who is contracted NOT to beat another guy?

Yet another reason why I don't gamble on anything that involves numbers, has legs or a mouth.

Didn't this happen just last year, too? I remember there was a storm over it, but maybe not quite as big, and Brazillians were particularly upset. I remember reading somewhere that after that GP--and Berichello's not hiding his disappointment--there were rumors of a clause in his new contract barring public criticism of the team.

Eh, but what's the guy to do? Stay the number two guy on a winning team or go with someone else and not see the podium much at all and get frustrated (like Villeneuve).

I don't get to see much of F1, so there's a pretty good limit to my knowledge (and I'm probably stating the obvious), but I imagine the last couple years may have been more interesting if Villeneuve had been with, say, McLaren or Williams. Or even if his BAR wouldn't have kept giving out.

The FIA getting involved, and something actually happening, are two very different things.

The worst thing they'll do is take Ferrari's constructor points (big deal, they're going to win by a thousand anyway).

I'm inclined to think there'll be a fine and a clarification of the team orders rules - there's no specific rule against team orders, they'll have to charge them with bringing the sport into disrepute or something.

Ferrari will just need to be more sneaky next time.

I just plain dont like M Schumacher I think he is a smug Git, I like Ralf better (for the momen) untill he starts to win regularly.

My opinions on Michael are fairly well known in this forum and I think Ralf is a selfish prima donna. Ralf's going okay at the moment but he must be about due for his traditional mid-season slump.

you like ralf until he starts to win regularly. that is one weird philosophy. Nah, i think points are the best option, at least compared to a fine. what'll they charge, 50k british pounds? sniff, that'll learn em

 Niki Lauda did it for Gilles Villeneuve many years ago. It happens in CART all the time (2 car teams). It has been going on in all forms of motorsport for many years. The FIA isn't going to stop a team from having their #2 driver allow the "franchise driver" to place ahead of him. As the saying goes its a money thing. It must suck to be Barrichello though. As a Villeneuve fan (I'm Canadian remember) it would be great if he had BMW ride (maybe Ralf's) but like a good Canadian he is sticking with BAR because he made a commitment. That said, he probably won't be there long if something doesn't change and soon. ;)

Well, there's some talk that if the rumours about Jordan getting the Cosworth engines are true, then Sato may head over to BAR as part of the Honda deal - three drivers, two seats...

😈 Perhaps a little history lesson is in order. Maybe Belgium has forgotten all the "good Canadian blood" that helped free their country. I know Holland hasn't. Don't confuse the ability to beat the crap out of the world at hockey with being nasty people. We love a good fight, but when the time comes and you need help you know we are always there. Don't toss the phrase oxymoron around so lightly. People who use such large words to attempt to insult others usually do so to hide certain inabilities or physical/mental limitations. You are dimissed.

I know this sort of thing will always happen in the sport, but is there really a need for it so early on in the season? The way Shumi just flew past Rubens just yards before the finish line was a disgrace to his ability. Surely the reason we have come to see him as such a great driver is because he can win races with his skill, not by having his team tell other drivers to let him through because he wasn't good enough to win the race on his own performance?

I don't see the WW2 connection with the current furore over team orders in F1.

I can get him no matter how hard i try

 Just spouting over rufrgt's "Good Canadian", oxymoron comment directed at Villeneuve. Exercising a little nationalism I suppose. Maybe I'll find another venue.

Oh, sorry - I wasn't taking a shot - I genuinely couldn't make the connection.

:D Don't apologize for my over zealous response. Most Canadians don't get to upset when someone questions our honour. I do. My apologies.
