Sunday night at the canyons...an EG went over the cliff...driver didnt make it...passengers i believe are in critical condition...ironically the driver was the only one wearing his harness...others flew out to "safety" ...my condolences to family and friends...but to all you who drive the canyons...drive safe...dont take your ego to the canyons.

Which canyons? This makes me think of the Grand Canyon ....

My best wishes to those families and friends of those who were hurt in that accident. I'll pray for them in my intentions .... :(

I'm assuming since you say "ego" that there was some informal/illegal competition involved. Oh, yeah, but street racing and midnight drifting are cool... Take it to the track where it belongs. And never do it with passengers in the car, unless they are certified/insured instructors.

I used to feel sorry for the people involved in stories like this. I don't any more. Now I think of it as evolution in action. The only people I feel sorry for are truly innocent bystanders who get injured or killed.

yea...i dont understand...why?! its one thing to put your life on the line...and another putting your friends lives on the line...doing something dangerous.....
a full car...an EG..probably going faster than it should...sounds like a bad understeer accident...sad

It's definitely not an EG... a stock EH, maybe. Honda makes stock cars to have severe understeering, which makes sense because of the demographics. Moral of the story is, if any stock Hondas break traction, it's going to go into a straight line.

This definitely sounds like mountain racing to me. Typically old-fashioned Americans lived in the mountains because of its extreme rurality... and it won't make sense (demographic wise) that a econobox such as the Civic is involved into an accident. Not to mention it was Sunday night where it was just before workday.

You know what I think? I think they've been playing Initial D Arcade Stage into a level where the Civic's damper and tires are so good it can never understeer...

It sounds about right, but I don't think anyone is really that dumb.. I mean I've played GT3 and drifting in it for a long while, but I don't go and try to drift everything, and my IQ is significantly below average...

Madness. Just sheer madness. I'm sorry these people were injured, but man, if you hit my car pulling this sort of crap, you'd better hope you kill me because I am going to come over to your car and beat the daylights out of you.

Destabilising a car is inherently dangerous, particulary at the high speeds you need to attain on modern tyres and suspension. This can only be done safely in a controlled environment, i.e. a racetrack, NOT on the public roads.
