Beginner question about RACING! (counter steer)

Hey, I just got my Fanatec CSR Wheel and CSR Elite pedals. They are amazing! I am really enjoying the game right now and I had a few questions about racing technique. So with RWD I lose grip in the back wheels pretty often, and sometimes I can straighten out if I "feel" the car. The thing is, I have no idea what I am really doing when I am attempting to counter steer. Can someone explain to me the physics or technique behind correcting oversteer? Thanks 👍

I dont know about the physics of it much, but if your catching the car before you spin out then your countersteering, if your trying to drift you should think of it as go in the turn smoothly then countersteering quickly depending on how fast your going or how much the car is drifting. I got the DFGT wheel, I dont know how the csr feels, I can imagine better though and I havent tried a true FFB wheel on Forza 4, only in gt5 I have drifted. Its the same concept in both games. Heres a link for the technical side to countersteering.

One thing Ive done when not drifting but driving a torquey rear wheel drive car like the viper in a race was as your going in the turn you anticipate that the car is gonna oversteer then as its about to oversteer turn the wheel the opposite way really fast as much as you need to to get it to straighten out. When I first started using the wheel I was hopeless with rearwheel drive cars now I can control them easily. Maybe someone else can give tips on countersteering.

My advice is be a lot smoother under braking, turn in progressively because rear wheel drive cars on forza don't react well to being thrown in to a corner and to reduce over steer on the exit be more progressive with the throttle. Smooth = fast in forza :) hope that helps

In this version of Forza I've been looking at the markers a lot more closely and they generally advise me to turn in a lot sooner than I do when using the racing line. Provided I manage my speed correctly through the corner I can get much quicker lap times so I guess it's all about approach and speed.

F4's Shift-style marks out of four turn grading helps a lot here.
