Benazir Bhutto killed in blast

Mussharaf... democracy... Pakistan...

Poor Benazir, though. RIP

Goa
Yes, those three combined together results in failure.

RIP Benazir.

It's not so much that as it is delusional to think Pakistan is a democracy under Musharraf.

I'm surprised she lived that long. R.I.P

the gunman shot her in the neck and chest, and then blew himself up

Oh god, i'm just watching this on the news.

I am really horrified. Not only for the loss of a great woman, but for the loss of a voice of peace in an area of unrest.

May god have mercy on her soul, and on the souls of all that are affected by this tragedy. (of which i am sure, there will be many.)

The local news were telling her story. They showed pictures of her in the late '60s when she was a teenager attending college. She was a hottie. I found her very attractive.

Not only that, but her college friends, when interviewed, all said she was headed for greatness; she was somebody very special who was going to matter to the world.

Amazing woman. RIP

So now they're saying all 3 shots missed her and that she died from a fractured skull when she hit her head on the sunroof whilst ducking......

Almost impossible!

The shooting itself is bad, but the gunmen that do such things, then commit suicide are real wimps. They can't even pull off a tremendous crime without doing that so they don't have to face the consequences.

Going back, I doubt that she would crack her skull ducking. You would think that such assassins would be more skilled, or they would only blow themselves up if they actually kill the person. I don't think it's possible that the shots would miss her but her fatal injuries would come from avoidance.

Rest in peace. Yes, it is corn-ball conspiracy theory, but does anybody think that the government may have had a hand in this, as they were rumoured in the death of Mahatma Gandhi?

That's what I thought. 👍

I'm tired of all this political pandering that's going on between the presidential candidates about this. Obama blames Clinton, Ron Paul blames America, and Huckabee doesn't know where Afghanistan is.

The only person who is talkin' any sense is John Bolton. Damn, this dude is smart:

Ron Paul blames America? Dude, that's so ignorant. Stop getting your headlines from Bill O'Reilly. John Bolton basically said the same thing that Ron Paul said when asked about it-- that we helped precipitate the situation and that we have to give the micromanagement a break to let everyone calm down. Surprising, I must say, on Bolton's behalf.

I don't think it's ignorant at all. Here's what Ron Paul said...

I think what he said was different from John Bolton. Yes, they both said, in their own unique way, that we, the US, should stay out of their business for now. Let it rest.

However, when asked what went wrong, Ron Paul blames, and only blames, the US for the mess over there. John Bolton acknowledge we made some mistakes, but he also listed some of the mistakes the leaders and generals have made in Pakistan. Ron Paul never said a single error the Pakistanis made for their current situation.

To be honest, I'm getting a little tired of Ron Paul blaming America and US policies for EVERYTHING that goes wrong. Yes, we need to do things differently, but it's not all our own fault. That's the attitude I'm reading from Ron Paul, and so are many others. He said the wrong things regarding Pakistan and the recent events there.

I've been saying, for well over three years now, Pakistan is US' most feared nation. People said it was North Korea. Not by a long shot, even though that Mentally Ill guy starting naming US cities he was going to bomb. We basically told him, "Listen, sit back; eat your rice. We'll talk later." Since then, we've been dealing with too much. Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and who else? But, we need attention and a hand in Pakistan's business. We cannot just 'let them be' as Ron Paul insists. That's what scares the "F" out of me about the guy. He's dangerous.

If he was dangerous, we'd have to be on top of things anyway. Doesn't mean we have to nation-build.

Ron Paul isn't 100% blame America, but he is never wrong in insisting that our foreign policy plays a role in precipitating the unfortunate and risky situations. So, it's not blame America, it's blame policy. I mean, ultimately, all of the blame rests on the perpetrators themselves, but since they apparently believe that two wrongs make a right, we have to understand this and fix things on our end.

Bhutto herself even said the same thing about the US intervention. But, anyway, let's keep this thread dedicated to her.

Speaking of Americas foreign policies I recently read an article that described America as a big freindly dog in a small room, the problem is that whenever the dog wags it's tail it knocks something over.

It's not so much about avoiding the consequences. It's more about getting to heaven with 72 virgins (never been to a nightclub in Essex obviously) and killing as many people as possible by blowing 'himself' up.

Ha, that's a good one.
