Phone has been acting up a bit today after a bit of time at the pool (speaker issues that are now sorted) but the screen isn't responsive for a few minutes now, should I do something or it's just evaporating water causing issues?

Edit: Oh man, now it's acting up alot more now 🤬 .

I'm afraid that it's only water proof in fresh water - http://www.abc.net.au/technology/articles/2014/10/15/4107561.htm, http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiaz2/dm/water-and-dust-resistance/

Nope

You can use your device:

  • in dusty environments, for example, on a windy beach.
  • when your fingers are wet.
  • in some extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or raining.
  • in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river.
  • in a chlorinated swimming pool.

This is what I meant, sorry.
From that ABC article:
So we asked Sony what the official word was regarding salt and chlorinated water versus fresh water in order to clarify the contradiction between marketing material and official ratings. We received the following response:
Should the phone be submerged in salt water it would need to be washed off in fresh water and if on warranty inspection it was evident that the seals had been damaged by salt/chlorine, warranty would be void.
There have been complaints from people all over the internet apparently about this.

Yeah I've seen that but they'll expect a mouthful if they'll throw me that line, it's in the user guide so it's official.

Have you tried contacting Sony or your carrier yet? You can say that it was misleadingly advertised as being waterproof.

Edit: While I'm here, I might as well ask about a problem I'm experiencing. My phone had about 50% battery left at night and when I woke up it had dropped down to 20%. Android OS was the biggest battery drainer. There is a fix, but that's only for KitKat. Any solutions?

Yeah I'll send it to them, are you running stock android?

Could be your battery.

I'm running a modified stock rom (Sony based custom rom). I found a fix on XDA, it involved using the CyanogenMod Privacy Guard, which is a CM11 feature. The solution was disabling the 'keep awake' and 'wake' permissions of Google Play Services, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that on 4.3 :/ The thing that annoys me is that seems to happen randomly. I might have to go back to a KitKat rom just to fix this. One of the reasons why I switched back to a Sony rom is to get better battery life, and it's actually worse with this wakelock.

@TwinTurbo LM Yeah I'd switch back if I were you.

Update: left the phone overnight in a bowl of rice, nope still not working, waiting for the retailer that sold me the phone to send someone to pick it up for repairs. Not happy at all.

@TwinTurbo LM, if I were you, I'd give Wakelock Detector (XDA Review on YouTube) and Greenify (XDA Review on YouTube) a try. Let me know if you have any questions. 👍

@sems4arsenal, trying to get the moisture out of the phone is certainly the first thing I would've done, as well. It's important to not shake or move the phone aggressively or forcefully during this process, though. Are you sure all the flaps were closed completely when you took it with you into the pool?

Yes 100% sure, that rice thing didn't work, so the retailer I got the phone from (the middle east version of amazon) will send someone to pick it up (still under warranty) so hopefully it's a quick fix and they won't charge me.

also after searching for the issue on the internet I found several people with the exact same issue.

@GT-R I completely forgot about that app, I've switched back to CM11 already. I'll try that app next time I'm on the stock rom though 👍

@GT-R

Thanks! To be honest, I wasn't very happy with the E3 I had, so I wanted to upgrade to the Z3. I'm glad I made that choice, haha.

Update: it seems the Z2 has a defect, the retailer will send me a new one by next week (might get a few more pounds too since it had a discount  ).

Hopefully all will be well, was thinking to go for a black one instead of the white but probably will keep it white.
