Best F1

Depends on where you're coming from.

NTSC (USA mostly ...) F094/S

PAL / Japanese (Europe, Australia, Japan ...) Polyphony 002

The F094s are the best overall, but the F686/M will run faster times at the higher speed tracks: Deep forest, Apricot hill and others

And heres how my F1 400m times stack up......
F094/S: 8.689
F094/H: 8.844
F686/M: 9.016
F687/S: 9.036
F090/S: 9.067
F688/S: 9.198

The "/H" is the first letter of the driver's last name, example:/H=Hill.

Actually, I've been able to turn better lap times with the F094/H. The /S is close, but for some reason the /H is just a bit quicker around the track.

Example: Run & Setting mode at Laguna Seca -

F094/S - lap record of 0:58:88 sec

F094/H - lap record of 0:57:44 sec

Can't do under a minute with any of the turbo F1 cars...yet.

Best F1 car? Whichever one you can setup and drive the fastest lap times with. Try the Run & Setting mode (from "Home") with various cars. I use this mode because of the consistancy...your tires don't wear or change temperature at all.

If you want, try the Laguna Seca track and post your best lap times (but be honest about it).

I have a F094/S and a F687/S.

Actually my F094/S is the fastest. However, you can change your gear ratio to a higher level to increase top speed. I believe many people have forgotten that :P

In case the previous posts haven't helped, here's my thoughts on the F1 cars. I'm no settings guru, so most of these opinions were based on little to no changes (other than changing the ASC to 0 and the TCS in the range of 0-2)...

F094/S (NTSC) or Polyphony 001 (PAL):
Far and away the best handling F1 car. Very quick, no turbo lag because it's normally aspirated. It's a little jumpy at first, but you'll get used to it.

F094/H:
Just as quick as the above /S model, but tends more towards understeer at times when the /S doesn't.

F090/S:
The slowest in a straight line, but nice on tires and the easiest F1 car to drive. Easiest F1 car to attain, so it's usually the "starter-F1" car for us NTSC-ers.

F686/M:
The fastest car in a straight line, but suffers from some turbo lag. Suffers from a lot of understeer.

F687/S:
The next-fastest in a top-speed contest, more neutral in handling, but still doesn't handle as well as the F09x/x NA F1 cars. But turbo lag isn't as bad as the '86.

F688/S (NTSC) or Polyphony 002 (PAL):
The best handling turbo F1 car, quite nice sometimes, but can jump out unexpectedly in the tight stuff. Gets lost on the straights.

In short, they're all still better than any other car in the game, but all have peculiarties and bonuses to them.

"Gran Turismo 3 A-spec features a grand total of six F1-based cars: the F094/S, which is featured here, plus the F090/S, F686/M, F094/H, F688/S, and F687/S. While deemed "fantasy cars" by Sony, these apparently are based on real Formula One cars driven by the likes of Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill, and Nigel Mansell in the '80s and '90s.

The first number represents the number of cylinders the cars is (0 for 10 and 6 for 6), the next two are the year that the car was used, and the last letter denotes the name of the car's driver (SOURCE: Gran Turismo.com Forums"

Agreed, but for a Honda guy like me there's nothing like kicking arse in the f090/senna.

I think the F094s is the best. I have all six and the F094s is much better than all of them. To test this, race in Formula-Gt. Those who say the F090s is the best, those cars will rock your world. As for me, I completed Formula-Gt with the F094s, F094h and the F686m. But the F094s puts up faster lap times and has excellent efficiency in tire wear. After all that, i still must admit they all kick butt.

Except for the fact that new racers are constantly just getting to GT3 (or just getting to the F1 level) and might still have questions, opinions, input, output, throughput...

I happen to like the F090's personally...

However, I do have to agree about people asking HOW to get them. I know I've posted a list for all the F1's (NTSC) somewhere in the GT3 forums - and I know there are tons of lists online - do a SEARCH folks!

All F1's handle the same to me (I edit the LSD's) I love the F686/M (Explains the 2139 miles on it  ) I have all 6 F1's. I always seem to pull out better times with the Turbo F1's than the N/A F1's. If you want the best handling F1, stick with the N/A (V10) F1's. If you want more HP, Stick with the Turbo (V6) F1's. All the F1's are the same weight. The F094/S & F094/H are exactly the same in specs. I pull off almost exactly the same lap times with them. F686/M = Best F1 for speed, F090/S for handling. F688/S or the F094/S and H for the best balance from all the F1's (my opinion)

i have a hybrid 3000 hp f1 car, and on the test course while accelerating to my top speed, all the other f1 cars are able to accelerate as fast as i can, and they are only 925 -_-. i gotta raise my top gear ratio to get a faster top speed in order to get away from them.

Is this a reason to bring up an old thread? I think you should check the thread dates before you post. Not to be mean, but I'm trying to save you from getting severely flamed.
