Best movie ever

I'd have to say Aliens is my all-time favourite. Every now and then, I think a movie has overtaken it, but when the lustre of a new best movie ever fades, I always go back to the Colonial Marines.

The Matrix Trilogy would definitely be above Aliens on my list, but technically it's three movies, or at least two (with parts 2 and 3 being one long movie split into two).

I can't even remember which movie I selected. I'd choose the original Matrix over Aliens, but they really are both great SF movies.

P.S. I LOVE 28 Days Later....

Everybody seemd to love 28 Days later, not me. Overrated, the best film ever?? come on!

Aliens & The (1st) Matrix are great.

Seven Samurai: Greatest movie of all time.

Also dug Life is Beautiful by Roberto Benigni (it's Italian).

and Fellowship of the Ring is sweet by Two Towers sucks! Return of the King? Good stuff, too.

In the Mood for Love may be the most beautifully shot film I have ever seen.

Transformers: The Movie

I just got that for easter a couple years ago, great movie, really hard to find. 👍

I always like Platoon over Full Metal Jacket, William Dafoe and even Charlie Sheen (yeah, I said it) were amazing in that movie, and if you look closely, you can even see Johnny Depp in there.

My favorite movie would have to be Blow. Sure its nothing but a story glamorizing a drug dealer, but deep down, its the story of the American dream, rising from nothing and making it big. Great actor, with a great supporting cast, at some points, even Penelope Cruz was good in it. 👍

Plus you can play the blow game, where you do a line whenever you hear or see it, and make the movie more interesting. :dopey:

it's WILLEM Dafoe....I always thought it was William too..but I actually "read" the credits yesterday when i watched it..

BTW, if you like Transformers the movie, another couple of movies you'd like..

"Centurions"

and

"inhumanoids"

All done by the same people who drew G.I. Joe

Well,

There are many many many movies in my 1000 DVD/VHS collection, but here are my faves...

Action:

Ronin (best car chases ever)

Gladiator

Horror:

The Haunting (original)

Drama:

Shindler's List

City of God

American Beauty

Mobster:

Resevoir Dogs

Goodfellas

Casino

Godfather II

War:

Saving Private Ryan

Band of Brothers

All's Quiet on the Western Front

There are sooooooo many more, but I've given my faves...

As an added note, Pirates of the Caribbean and Goonies are great great movies as well... Thouhg kind of kiddy, they're just good fun...

DeLoreanBrown - Thanks for the review, its not bad! 👍
The game isn't bad either, just make sure to bring a lot if you play, and around 2/3rds through, remember to breath between lines.

Driftster - Thanks for the correction, i've always called him William, guess I should pay attention next time I watch a movie with him in it. I'll check into the other movies you mentioned, the art work in GI Joe was great, should really bring me back to my childhood.

Bram Stoker's Dracula
Braveheart
The Lord of the Rings
Star Wars 5: Empire Strikes Back
Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan
You've Got Mail
Fight Club
The Abyss

After review of this list, I'd have to remove "The Abyss" and throw in Matrix Reloaded.

I rewatched "You've got Mail" last night and was amazed all over again at how well it's written. Intolerable cruelty is up there in terms of writing as well.

I never get tired of Pulp Fiction. It's going to take a hell of a movie to dethrone it as my favorite.

Damnit!! I've got to make another change. I'm bumping Wrath of Khan for Batman Begins. Here's the full list:

Bram Stoker's Dracula
The Lord of the Rings
Braveheart
Batman Begins
Star Wars 5: Empire Strikes Back
Fight Club
Matrix Reloaded
You've Got Mail

I think "Batman Begins" look out of place on that list(I still liked it a lot). I wasn't a fan of couple other movies on that list either, but I don't remember much of it, so I couldn't say. :D

In no particular order:

Titanic
Fellowship of the Ring
Two Towers
Return of the King
Top Gun
Troy
Pirates of the Carribbean
The Man from Snowy River
50 First Dates
The Last Samurai
Enter the Dragon
Warlock
Gone in 60 Seconds
The Thin Red Line
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Saving Private Ryan
Harry Potter
Driven

The Usual Suspects
Gladiator
Black Hawk Down
The Machinist
Batman Begins
Requiem For A Dream
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Ocean's Eleven

My favorite all time movie. Hm, my top 3 list would go like this.

1. Star Wars saga (yes including the new ones)
2. Lord of the Rings trilogy
3. Indiana Jones trilogy

Other favourites include (in no order):

Terminator 2
Matrix (all 3)
National Treasure
Batman Begins
Saving Private Ryan
Back to the Future trilogy
Le Mans
Highlander (first one)
Gone in 60 Seconds (yes, I know it's crappy, but I like it)
Predator
Man in The Iron Mask
Mad Max (first one)

I think that's about it. Also Band of Brothers is worth a mention. My favorite mini-series ever. I'm a history buff sort of, specifically the big wars like WW2 and Vietnam and such. I really enjoy seeing a good movie or in this case mini-series depicting life in one of these wars, which is I like private ryan, enemy at the gates, band of brothers, full metal jacket and so on so much.

I think my favorite movie of all would be Liar Liar, no matter how many times I see this movie it just doesnt seem to grow old on me. I also have to mention Big Trouble In Little China, when I was like 10 or something I must have watched that movie a thousand times.

1) The Big Lebowsi
2) Clerks
3) Bullitt
4) Anchorman
5) Kill Bill V1&2
6) X-Men franchise
7) Batman Begins
8) Spider-Man franchise
9) Saving Private Ryan
10) Star Wars I-VI (yeah, I liked ALL of them)

...And of course, LOTR, who didn't like those?

Like Caqnadian Speed, a few posts ahead of me, I've a ton of movies in my VHS/DVD collection. To pick a single would be too difficult at best.

1. Malcolm X
2. Heat
3. 12 0'clock High
4. Any Given Sunday
5. The Empire Strikes Back
6. King Kong (The Original, of ocourse.)
7. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
8. The Maltese Falcon
9. Grand Prix
10. The Lord of The Rings (Trilogy)
11. Band of Brothers
12. Ronin

Somewhere in that list is my favorite movie of all time. Then again, there are about two dozen more I've left off the list . . .

In no particualr order:

Pulp Fiction, of course ;)

Dawn Of The Dead remake (I was going to say 28 Days Later, but this took it's place.)

Jackass: The Movie, I've never laughed so hard at a movie, ever!

The original Gone In 60 Seconds, uber low-budget movie, but the driving aspect is beautifully done. You can tell the director (H.B Halicki) was passionate about it.

I like Clerks alot too, I try to catch it when it's on T.V. :)
