Being a V8 lover, I reckon the 1967 Ford Mark IV and the Jaguar XJ13 have the best start up sounds. The Mark IV sounds awesome during the race though.

Being a Mercedes maniac, I almost like all of the high powered engines of them.
Especially the Merc SL65 AMG and the C63.
Also enjoyed driving the V8 Vantage.

Being a V8 lover, I reckon the 1967 Ford Mark IV and the Jaguar XJ13 have the best start up sounds.

Im sorry to say, but the Jag has a V12. It sounds great on startup, though, you are right.

The Vantage sounds like **** fully tuned, just like the ZR1 sounds like a tuner car not nearly like a V8,

The SL65 and SLR are nice though.

lol most of the cars sound good on start up.....The minolta and some of the old muscle cars sound good. even though the old cars sound like the struggle to start lol. Like my old Golf used to cough like some of those cars!

Speaking of old cars, the Lancer '74 Rally Car makes a spirited and long start-up.

I love the LF-A stock and I wish I had better control of the FGT and X2010 on twisty courses, because I love the scream of an F1 Engine.

787b is a good one. Sometimes the cars sound broken then the engine kicks in.
