Hey GTPlanet,

I've just started racing on Gran Turismo 6 as I've been racing a little with iRacing and rFactor although I've already clocked up more hours than them on GT6 in less than a day. I played GT5 a little, although I lost my save game and I hadn't played since, I also didn't like playing it with a controller.

I got a Driving Force GT awhile back and a friend recommend to me to buy Gran Turismo 6 and I picked it up for just $45 (Cheap!) at JB Hi-Fi. So far, so good. I love the game!

I have 2 major questions and theirs alot I don't know so any filling in is appreciated.

1. Best driving view when using a Wheel? I guess this is personal prefence, but I tried the Cockpit and Hood view but I find it hard to keep track of my Revs as the dial is so small in the bottom left, The camera with the dials in the Center is what I'm currently using, but at times it's a little hard to know where the Car is. Dials & Hood would be perfect.. (I'm playing in front of my 24" monitor)

2. What Driving Assists? In general for the best experience what Assists should be active? I currently have Traction on 5 and ABS on 1. The rest is turned off.

Thanks!

EDIT: Is their anyway you can put Music on your PS3 and play it via the game? I don't like to Music line up so much.

1. A lot of people use the bumper cam presumably partly because it gives you the speedo etc on the bottom of the screen. I use a combination of cockpit/chase cam depending on what I am doing. It's really down to preference.

2. Again, it's down to personal preference. I found that TCS 5 makes it too easy: On my previous save I was using TCS and it was too simple to run pretty much any car without any effort; on this save, I try to keep TCS at 0, although will occasionally got up to 3 if I am struggling with a car. I have found that my skill has improved much more with using little or no TCS such as some licence tests I couldn't gold on my first save whereas I have golded them quite easily on this one due to needing more skills to handle cars without TCS. However, it is your game so it is up to you what you want to do but turning off TCS gives a much better experience.

3. Yes you can add your own music. Import the music to your PS3, then when in game press the Start button, go to options/settings and then I think audio settings or something and you will find it (sorry not got PS3 on so can't remember exactly how to do it). I have my own music playing when I am using the game

Same as what @nursemorph said - use whatever settings that makes the game work for you.:)

I use a DS3 (still!!) and I have all aids off except for ABS1 on a few cars with racing brakes. But when I started with GT5 I proudly used what ever aids I felt like. Over time I gradually increased the difficulty until the only option was to go for a lower powered car with 1 or 2 tire grades less on it.

Then I took part in @NCRthree 's Clean Run Challenges in the GT5 seasonal forums in lower powered cars with stock settings. The aim was to get the fastest time without hitting anyone or breaching the limits of the track. Now that really tested and improved my driving.👍

And user BMG for me has kept GT5 alive for a lot longer than it was capable of!!! I have a couple of gbs of music on the xmb to keep me going!!

Use whatever aids you prefer, but just know that all aids except SRF and ABS make you slower, although if you are struggling with car control, TC for example might benefit you by not spinning out.

By all means use aids, but propper throttle control can only be learnt by turning TCS, ASM and SRF off.

Do want to be as fast as possible while being able to slip up for a sec or two? Use ASM, TCS and SRF. Personally I drive with as little aid as possible, but have to use Automatic gearing for the time being as my left hand has had some surgery. That being said I'm slow as Kjell...
