Do you mean best, or our personal favourite?

BEST is clear, Gronholm/206.

Favourite? I like Solberg too - he's a little bit cheeky. I also like Gronholm, because his use of English is so comical. Like the radio call after his multiple roll in Rally GB: "We have rolled. We are OK. The car is not OK."

My personal favorite is Freddy Loix in the Hyundai.

Especially when they show pictures of him with the onboard camera. Very funny to hear the Dutch Belgium notes.

Driver: Marcus Grönholm
Car: Toyota Corolla WRC

I think Corolla WRC is still the best looking WRC car there is. :)
And you know Grönholm used to drive Corolla WRC and won Finnish rally championship with it before he got the contract with Peugeot.

I've been thinking about the car thing, and I think that the Martini Focus is probably best looking, closely followed by the original Imprexa WRC (i.e. the 22B).

Richard burns.

and the old ford escort. either that or the focus and 206 tie.

i like the subaru too, but they have to realise that the reason that the 206/focus are doing better is because they have smaller cars. if only the subaru team came up with a much smaller car, and rehired colin mcrae, i think they would win.

All time favorites? Mikkola, Vatanen, Kankunnen, Blomqvist, Toivonen, Makinen, Sainz, Solberg and Grunholm, just to name a few...

Favorite cars? Lancia Stratos, Delta S4, Audi Quattro S1, Pug 205 T16, Renault R5 Turbo, Ford RS200, Escort Cosworth, Lancer EVO V/VI, Impreza WRC pre 2001, Xsara WRC, just to name a few again...

Nothing like narrowing it down and making a decision, eh PunkRock! ;)

Yeah, but choosing just one is like saying Michael Schumacher is the best F1 driver ever, and the F2002 is the best car ever.

Sorry about that, vrmx, i guess my finn isn't good enough... :P

That was why I asked for a clarification on whether the question was "best" or "favourite"...

But Carlos Sainz's co-driver: Luis Moya has retired of the rallies, and now he has a new co-driver and they don't understand well each other. I mean: Moya's notes are different from Marc Martí's (new co-driver), and they've had some accidents and lost rallies because of this.

It has been my experience, that at the top levels of any sport, any top competitor can equal or surpass any other top competitor depending on their mental condition and luck on that day. The car is a just another variable as the best compition machine is still just a assemblage of parts and systems that are all subject to failure. So, at this moment in history, on any given day, any of the top drivers can win if they are in a Peugeot, Subaru, Citroen or Ford. Lancer and Skoda may sweel this list soon. Of course, as an old geezer, I take great glee in Carlos Sainz snapping at the heels of a big mouth who was on record not long ago saing Carlos was "past it".
