In my opinion, the muscle cars the sound the best are the '70 Dodge Charger, the '71 Dodge Charger, and the Plymouth Superbird, especially from the camera view on the roof.

I'd like more realistic sounds... The civic's with racing exhaust sounds like weed eater... I'll let you know PD how a civic sounds like...

GT NEEDS better sound. It will be in HD and it needs digital surround sound, as well. Not only that, but it should be good sound. IT shoud sound like actual cars not just flat engine and tire sounds. They should come alive with your race. It really helps in the experience. A GTO shouldnt sound like it has a V6.

BETTER SOUND, PD, PLEEASE!!!

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I hope that to be able to get good sound, you don't have to own those high priced sound systems. :nervous: Not every GT will be willing to spend loads of cash depending on where they are in life. 👍

davethestalker: "With all of the technology at your disposal for sound quality, why did the V8s come across unatuthentic, especially if a 'racing muffler' is used. What will you do to prevent this in the future?"
Taku Imasaki: To davethestalker: "We've been working on sound improvement for such a long time now... our sound engineers have been challenged with getting that all-american throaty sound... it seems to have to do with how their programs works + hardware limitations. That's on of our top priority list."

You know if they would only change the sound and for the rest let it stay GT4 I would buy it and get addicted:D:D:D

I want alot in the game but only one of those things need to be in GT5 for me to buy it:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:embarrassed:

Edit:
A GTO shouldnt sound like it has a V6.
If it DID sound like a V6 I would still be happy. Problem is even a grassmower sounds nicer than this:indiff:

But, someone with a nice sound system should be able to fully experience GT.

As a sound engineer, I'm pretty confident that the PS3 (and thus GT5) with how its built will offer us sound unlike you've ever heard before in a videogame. It is going to be simply fantastic.

I'm tired and getting ready to go to bed here, but if you read through the sound hardware of the PS3 there are so many different things they can do with audio now which will make it seriously easy for PD to give GT5 that depth of sound we have all been craving. Instead of playing one audio sample for the engine and modifying that (which is basically what causes the car's sound to distort so much when a racing exhaust is put on - it RUINS things), now it is possible for them to isolate several noise-making components for each car (you've got the whine of the transmission, the engine obviously, turbochargers, exhaust, etc) that are all making sound and sometimes sound in different areas in relation to the driver's seat. It is all going to come together here. I have confidence PD will do it.

I bought a Logitech Z5500 sound setup and cannot wait to abuse this. I thought GT4 was going to give it a lot to grunt over but it leaves me feeling like something is lacking. GT5 WILL fix this, no doubt.

I only thing I heard about the problem of the car sounds from PD is that even though PD had all these car sounds, they couldn't be able to put it in the game. One thing is they ran out of space on the Duel-Layer DVD, also the PS2's sound chip weren't designed for all the car sound's in the game. That's why we end up having crappy sounds in GT4 other than real life.

Dark, actually you bring up another really good point that I didn't consider in my post above. Do we have any numbers from anyone regarding how much of the actual DVD space GT4 used up?

Can't the DVDs hold 4GB or so? I thought they could. Which means, they had the room on the disc for the sounds, easy, but the hardware couldn't really handle it all in the way it had to be done to sound realistic.

I'm more inclined to think it was a hardware issue, but that's just me. Though you brought up a good point worth researching, DarkCoxy :D

They need to work on the sounds of All the cars and not have so many sound like twins. A Jaguar vs a Mclaren, tell me do they sound the same? Not that I know of. I mean there are various games that do good sounds. For Le Mans I would have to say Total Immersion Racing does the best sounds, NFSMW does the best for street tuners AND V8 muscle cars. I mean I hope they up the sounds of the cars and give them their true sounds and not modify the same sounds for certain cars and just highten it or lower it. Putting a mask on your face doesn't make you a different person, you just look it, that is how their sounds are now. I hope they change that on GT5.

i agree with the sound quality. i didnt think it bothered anyone else glad to see im not on my own. when you get a turbo car and upgrade it with a stage four on gt4 in the picture there is a racing wastegate. i take it everyone knows what they are their job is to prevent the turbo overboosting by letting out excess exhaust gas through a device on the exhaust manifold (it sounds like a BOV but louder longer and a different sound and its ****ing awesome) now when i go race the car you hear **** all and it really pisses me off cos it is in the picture when you buy it. my dad has a subaru and got a 5" back box fitted to it which makes the burble louder obviously now when you get a standard subaru on gt4 and mod it up without any exhasust mods the trademark burble is there but when you add an exhaust its raspy and sounds like a ****ing remote control car. pd really need to sort themselves out as someone said earlier all street racing games have their sounds properly sorted and with PD's reputation of making a great racing game you think they would of sorted out this ages ago.
