Just curious - why would you partition that small of volumes?
My personal files are on the big partition, programs on another, and OS on a 3rd (the last is for temporary files/log files). So it's easy to reinstall without losing my configuration.

My main drive is a 80GB (which is partitioned into 40GB for windows and 40GB for linux) and I have another drive thats 30GB.

27GB

I have more GMail space than HD space... :dopey:

HA HA HA! Now THAT is funny.

LoudMusic, I love the amount of space used/size ratio on your Mac Server I guess it has changed a bit since then.

Yeah, it's up to about 310GB of used space now. If my backup drives would ever ship I'd be ready to put another 640GB on it.

I've got a pair of 250GB disks in my home computer, set up as RAID0 for 0.45TB formatted.

We've got 1.46TB (formatted) on a file server in London on our network, and the client has a SAN with somewhere in that region too.

I figured I might as well post this in here...

Today I maxed out my HD and had to turn off system restore and delete a bunch of crap.
Once I did that I ran the generic disk cleanup thing, and it showed me this:

Anyways it gave me a chuckle :)

Well my desktop - 12 gigs roughly and my Laptop - 20 or 30 gigs?
I really dont need alot.

1X 120GB SATA 8MB Cache HDD 7200RPM as D: Drive (Space left: 42GB)
1X 5200RPM 18.6GB ATA 2MB Cache HDD as C: Drive (Space left: 11.7GB)

Getting a 250GB/300GB or 400GB 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD soon to be my 3rd HDD, before getting a extra 120GB or 160GB 8MB Cache 7200RPM HDD to become my new C: Drive once I move over to 64bit.

40GB + 80GB = 120GB

I'm gonna be getting a new comp in the next few months, and I'm probably going to upsize to a 160GB hard drive (since they're cheap), and just keep large media files (mainly Movies and TV shows) on DVD-Rs.

What do you need all the space for? And why do you have your operating system on the slowest drive in the computer?

...did you even read my post? I've got almost double that.

Did you even read MY post? I have 2,180 GB. I wasn't asking you what you do with yours - I was asking someone else what they do with theirs. Frankly I don't care what you do with yours - I wasn't asking you.

nothing i have an 8, a four and a 2.2 all not connected. no one has hdd at 10k rpm? i got a 60gb 10k rpm one from ebay the other day

I actually have a 600MB drive somewhere. But I am not going to use it!

My drive isn't as big, but it has more stuff. :)

This isn't my personal hard disk, but I figured it would be more impressive.

lol thats tiny! I have more RAM in my video card than that lol (well not really I cant afford SLI 512mb cards just yet)

Clueless.

Anyway, on to cool stuff.

what do you mean cluless?! I think you shouldn't comment. I admitt As of now I havnt experimented with liquid cooling or SLI cards (because they are out of my budget) but it does NOT mean im clueless! jesus christ I hate comments like that!

I've got 2 drives. One is 40GB and the other is 80GB making a total of 120GB of storage. the 40GB is my main drive with all my apps and Windows. The 80GB is for storage. I've got around 20GB of music and probably 2GB of photos.

40GB + 80GB = 120GB

Currently I have the 80GB as the master drive and the 40 as the storage.

I'm nearly out of space on the 40 though, so I'm thinking about swapping them around and having the 80 as the storage disc. However, the 40 is a slower drive (5,400rpm as opposed to 7,400rpm). Would there be any significant performance loss having Windows on the slower drive? :indiff:

If you play games or install lots of stuff it will be slower than the 7,400rpm drive. (as I have a 40gb 5400rpm drive and I sometimes use the 80gb 7,200rpm drive)
If you do smaller tasks it isn't that much difference, it's only when you really demand alot out of it. For example "File Splitting".
