Fantastic! A premium Audi R8 LMS Ultra is brilliant. Watching just those few seconds demonstrates the leap in body physics and suspension modelling. Beautiful stuff PD.

I stand corrected. But the point stands, the 2008 GTRs and Sc430s are terribly balanced among themselves, nevermind being balanced with a car from 3 years later. Super GT is terribly done in GT5.
You made do with what you had to work with, that's fine. But, strictly speaking, it isn't realistic, it's not a simulation. 2006 GT500 cars don't race with 2008 GT500 cars in reality (in Super GT) for obvious reasons. Additionally, GT500 regulations change (sometimes only slightly) every year. Though the speed of Gt500 machines has remained roughly the same over the last half dozen years, they get slightly faster or slightly slower year-to-year. But during a single season, the three makes (Nissan, Lexus, Honda) are roughly equal, varying slightly from track to track. It makes so much more sense to have cars from the same year, and it shouldn't be that hard to do.

Take 2013 for example. There's 3 cars and 15 skins that would need to be modeled. Ignore the tire differences and the lack of aero updates for certain teams (which PD should do), and you've got a grid of 15 cars naturally balanced cars to race with one another AND it's realistic, so you can simulate races.

While I understand what your saying, older year cars have actually raced with newer cars more times then you think (though the gap was usually no more then two years so realistically the 2005 Supra does kinda stick out) so its not that unfathomable. Worked for us because 16 being the limit of online players and there being exactly 16 premium GT500 cars to choose from (17 thanks to the HSV-010), we had plenty to work with. I understand though because Super GT (at least GT500) was the only series class where you both have enough cars for everyone without repeats AND didn't have to guess which cars went with what, unlike the NASCAR and WRC cars. You can't run those because there simply aren't enough NASCAR cars (Only 11) and don't even bother having a WRC series unless you want to use all the rally cars because you only have 4 to choose from. And you almost can forget having a Sportscar series of any kind because the prototypes are too far spread in age and performance and there simply aren't enough balanced GT cars to do a GT3 or GTE class.

Oh no no no! As an avid single player offline racer, I want PD to come up with enough cars and liveries to flesh out series and championships from as many racing leagues and teams as SONY can afford. And I'm fine with fantasy stuff to fill in blanks, like PD created teams and Formula GT for instance. I want a huge single player game.

We definitely need the Livery Editor too, because all those online leagues and clubs will suffer if all they get are... team colors. :P

P.S.
Ditto to the guy below.
Don't get me wrong, I want liveries for single player too, but I'm fine with fantasy/generic teams (there's enough mythical beasts/gods and germanic names out there to choose from ;)) and liveries (like in Pcars) for non-specific race classes like GT3.

For series specific race classes like Super GT, DTM, Nascar, etc., official liveries are preferred because they are realistic and the rights should be easier to acquire (most teams are factory teams or large semi-private factory-supported teams).

The problems for having official GT3 liveries are:
1. Most teams are privateers. It must be a headache and use up resources to inquire about, license and recreate liveries from small teams, some of whom might say no. Phoenix and Schulze are one thing, but other teams might not have the same understanding with PD.
2. GT3 cars race in many series around the world, using many different race number stickers and series sponsor windshield stickers. Cars from VLN, ADAC GT Masters, Blancpain, FIA GT and Super GT would look out of place next to each other. Things would be simpler with a livery editor and generic "Gran Turismo" race number stickers.

I don't mind official GT3 liveries, I just don't think it should be a priority.

IMO :)

We need to race against cars of our own garage!
In this way a livery editor will make lots of sense.
GT6 like rFactor!

Paint the cars and race against them!

All very true, GT5 simply wasn't online race series friendly. Many race cars (like the R10) had a single livery/number and had no natural rivals to race against. A livery editor will be a big addition to online racing, but more a more thoughtful choice of cars (balanced natural rivals) from PD would be welcome also.

I think, many of the cars are the same: as far as I remember many of the participants in VLN are the same who participate in ADAC GT Masters and/or Blancpain...

BTW: I agree, it would be easier to give us an editor and community features instead of asking each and every team for permission.

Yes, but the race number stickers are different in each series. I don't know if it's just me, but it looks unprofessional to me when the stickers are not the same.

There's also the problem of duplicate numbers (if there's no number changing feature). Having a #10 Black Falcon SLS GT3, a #10 Jim Gainer SLS GT3 and a #10 Polarweiss SLS GT3 racing against each other would be a hypothetical nightmare for our imaginary race control. :P

The Castrol JGTC Suffered from this too, it couldn't keep up with the GT500 Cars and it was too fast for the GT300 Cars, hopefully PD adds some more JGTC Cars. :indiff:

Basically, I agree with everything everyone said.

Here's hoping that Kaz, being a huge professional racing nut, is as keen on making this all happen as we are.

Oh, and good luck to the team, and a good restart to the Nurburgring 24 Hours!

Very cool. I hope we get an all silver one (or the other colors) like the SLS AMG.

What if when we buy a premium Racecar, they come in the official Livery and the base color?

Like buying a Jaguar XJR-9, and having a option to have a plain Purple one.

Unlikely, but it is possible, and not very hard to do at all, I think. (Just recolor the texture to all purple or something? IDK? :dunce:)

I wish PD just made the base race car and made all the liveries color options. But I guess they're going for quantity > quality this time.

I'm seeing official livestream from Nurb 24 and right now they are explaining the track in detail using the GT6 footage with the R8 and the GT-R!

^ Yeah I saw too:tup: They were breaking down different sections of the track with the same R8 & GTR. I liked those camera angles they were using too.

Was that really in-game footage? Sure that wasn't from the Nurb24?

-- Nvm. Just watched it fullscreen. Looks impressive! --

I honestly don't care about actual real liveries. Give me the option to rm all the cars (yes, even the fiat 500...cup car anyone) and a livery editor and I'm happy. Let us trade liveries for a bonus.

So what was that guy, in the video, saying? Just talking about the track or game?

Though I don't understand german, it seemed they were just talking about the particular sections of the track being shown through GT6.

I'm no expert in German, but it sounds like he was explaining the Flugplatz at the end, so he might've just been describing that particular bit of track they were driving on.

The video was there to give an accurate display of the parts he was mentioning.

Very clever and subtle advertising PD.

Making each livery a new car is a win-win for Sony/PD and the race team. Sony/PD gets to boost the car count for marketing and the race team gets exposure. I imagine this particular Audi will get an in-game name something like this:
Audi R8 LMS ultra (Phoenix Racing) Race Car '12

Just remember that they don't work like this. Remember the whole discussion we had with NASCAR & SuperGT cars (But specially NASCARs given that the difference between teams in SuperGT is more significant)? Some people saw them as a questionable bump in car count because they were supposedly the same car model but with different liveries. Others came to defend PD noting that not all NASCARS were the same model, that they had different interiors and as such counted as entirely different cars.

It's a tough desicion. PD can either take a whole lot of time just to give us another unit of what's essentially the same car but with excruciating and exquisite detail, or they can just re-livery the same car model sacrificing a bit of anal detail for the sake of practicality.

If they do a lot of GT3 class cars... I'm really excited. We have three, wow! That's awesome as is but I don't see why they wouldn't include enough for a seperated looking race. Plenty of Super GT cars in GT5, enough for a very different looking grid. If they have the 458 Italia GT3, LFA GT3, BMW GT3, Aston Martin GT3 and a bit far-fetched but also the Porsche GT3, I'm really happy. The real question really is why that SLS AMG GT3 has no livery on it. I feel they will express more features of GT6 during E3.
