Comments

This car was tough to match to a track, but I found no better than one that perfectly matches it's purpose in real life. High speed cruising with little fear of consequences. :dopey:

Preview of Coming Attractions

We'll break out the Z4 next week, should be a fun one. 👍

CUP - Series to Date Standings

BMWCupSeriestoDate2_.jpg

OK - End of the second week now, with some great participation. 👍

Congrats to stidriver for once again taking the top spot this week.

Jump_Ace takes second and Denur rounds out the podium.

For the series to date, stidriver is in first, MadMax is once again consistent and in second and we have a tie for third place, between Denur and Jump_Ace.

Lots of tight battles between spots 3 and 8.

So let's make these last 2 count!!

Here's the split from my test, see if you can go annihilate it. ;)

38.985

Great fun. Finally a reason to visit HSR without the fear of them Prologue Punters. Tho I am a fan of soft compounds the harder ones would be a thrill here. I might go and try out a few laps on S1's first just for the fun of it and then move up to the softies 👍

Maybe:

T1 38.457

I belive a 38.0xx is possible

I would tend to agree with you. My test is usually about the amount of time I would spend in a first session, so it's never anywhere close to my personal limit. This should be an interesting week. The split doesn't really mean very much, the results could be jumbled.

38.985

I'm currently at a 38.185 and came to check the specs.

Another great combo, Kevin.

Maybe a bit easy to drive but real fun. I'll check your PM again and reply later.

We put the BMW 2002 into the LAN favorites and had a great time with 3 of them at Deep Forest Sunday.

I imagine the M5 will be next.

Back to HSR to chop some more time off.

Glad you guys are getting some of these in the LAN mix, I got George's time from Jake earlier. :)

I'm out of town this weekend, so I picked a combo I could get a decent time on in short order. :sly: I'm sure you guys won't mind, maybe you can make a run at a WRS podium?

EDIT : Besides, Kenny. You're always good at these HSR events, maybe this can be your podium.

This is a nice one. 👍 There are a lot of ways to attack each corner. Kenny, you may be right about it being easy to drive, but the oft-quoted phrase may apply here: "Easy to go fast, tricky to go super fast." Anyway, I'm on a 38.123 (I'd need a miracle to get into the 37s), but the last two corners will make a huge difference. By the way, I'm shifting at 8000 RPM - anyone have a better idea? And speaking of shifting, I was hoping to feel like an F1 driver by using seventh gear, but unfortunately it's useless at this track at stock power.

I find myself saying "Slow is fast" more and more all the time, meaning.......be smoother, and my times get better, usually. :sly:

Then sometimes I really need "to get on the wheel", start "sawing at it" and perform.

7 gears???? :odd: I didn't realize.

Great Split, Kenny. Sounds like the 3 of you had a good time at LAN. Sorry I missed out on it and hope to be there again soon.

Thanks.

I tried it with +20% for something like 2 laps, but once I was able to pass that ghost with stock power, I knew that was the way to go. And I didn't find my way into 7th with the +20% either, although it was getting up into the redline.

Speaking of which, I have not found any issue with shifting closer to the limiter. :indiff:

EDIT : Like the new avvy, Jake - Yours and mine. ;) 👍

Kenny decided to check out on this one. I can't seem to find his number but am happy with my current lap. 👍

38.658

First session

38.381

Somehow I always get sucked into thinking that the first three turns and the last turn should be treated like superspeedway oval turns, and every time I re-discover that I need to treat them like actual corners with apexes and braking points

First split for me is a wobbly 39.363 and the gain will probably only be found between t1 and s/f for me.

Well, EDK, you were in fact correct. I don't know why I thought short-shifting was better. :dunce: Near the limiter is indeed faster. Anyway, I'm basically chasing hundredths right now and haven't managed an improvement. I've seen a bunch of 38.0xx, including a 38.004, but haven't gotten both of the last two corners right on any of them. It sure is addicting tracking that time down!

EDIT: I just got a 37.963, and actually finished the lap! Albeit with .15 or so lost in the last corner due to braking too late and too much :banghead:, but the first two corners went flawlessly and the right-T1-left was nearly as good. I didn't gain as much as I should have (.122 :irked:), and am still a bit short of my goal, but I'm very happy with the T1 and would be hard pressed to repeat it.

For reference: The first corner can be taken at 152 mph, the second at 95-100, the third and fourth at about 70, and the last at about 90. S/F speed on a good run is 150-151 mph.

Nice job so far, guys. 👍

I tried a few more laps last night, and have yet to improve.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'll be away for a few days (Starting in the morning) and will only be able to check in occasionally.

I return Sunday afternoon.

So good luck while I'm gone, and I'll see you on the flip side. :D

Kevin

Not that I'm competing in this anyway, but try to come back from the Great American Beer Fest with at least 1/2 of your braincells intact (if not fully functional! :P)

first run:

38.531

37.916

Now I'm off to dig a 70' trench ...... by hand!!

Well, this will be my 4th one. So I must not have lost more than 25% in each of the past 3. :sly:

Guess we will see. :scared:

How wide and long? :sly:

70 feet long, about 18 inches deep, and wide enough to bury 1.5 inch pvc in which I will pull 3 runs of #2 wire so I can power my garage and shop.

normally no big deal, but I live on the side of a mountain and the rocks can be as big as a baseball or as big as your car.........wanna' help? :sly:

have i got it right, the T1 split is the time that counts as win if i get better time?? Or is it full laptime?
