OK - results are up on the second post. Congrats to stidriver for the win, Jump_Ace for second, and Denur for the third place spot.

If you guys would be so kind as to post your replays, and and others who would like can share as well. I'll have mine on here later tonight or tomorrow. 👍

Thanks for all the participation.

EDIT: I see I also messed up the left column on the results spreadsheet. Hopefully you guys can count. :dopey: The rankings and series to date should be right.

As always, congrats to everyone for the great times! Those were some close battles. stidriver, you must have had a killer final sector to gain .25 on Jump_Ace and nip him at the line. And nice job getting up there in... er... "second," Denur. My best lap was a 1'10.983. Before that, I had a 1'11.197, then a .075, then a .025 (that was the one with a 37.921 T1), then finally this one. It was awfully fun (and addicting!), EDK! Keep them coming!

Yeah cool! I would win this race hard! this is my best time!

As we discussed via the PM system - Since you do not plan to purchase a max drive device in order to prove your times as clean, I'm not including you in the results.

I've extended the courtesy to Austin343 to run here in the series I've posted as an unofficial participant, and he's remained courteous and supportive of the events and the participants, while following the thread rules that I've established by not posting final times until the results have been posted. So the precedent is there for you to run and post here unofficially, I'll only ask that you behave in the same manner. 👍

i know youre not including me in the results and stuff. i just wanna compare myself against others ^^ And see how others can maybe beat my time?

André, I'm sorry to say that saying things like "Yeah cool! I would win this race hard!" don't come across as being very courteous. I don't doubt that you're very good at this game (for sure you don't belong in WRS Division 2 - did you only run one lap on the qualifier? I sure couldn't have beat your time in the M5 here , even though I've done an unofficial lap of the qualifier that's fourth fastest in D1.), but to me at least, you sound like you're bragging. Others (holl01 for example, in the WRS) were often somewhat arrogant, but had a means of replay verification to back them up. I'm not saying I don't believe your time, but hopefully you realize how easy it would be to back out to that screen after doing a 1'10.6 lap at +20% power, go the the quick tune box, change power back to 0%, and take the photo.

I know I sound like a hypocrite saying this (but I have a reason - see ARCAT race 1 thread), but go and get a Max Drive. They're fairly inexpensive and will allow you to compete, not just compare, in a game you're obviously very good at. 👍

I'm surprise by the win. But some nice close time by all drivers. Congrats Jump_Ace takes second and Denur for third. We have a real dog fight going for the overall.

My NTSC replay is up also.

This was a close one, phew! Nice driving guys 👍

I'll post my replay when I get home from work.

Im sorry if you finds me bragging ^^ I was just happy when i wrote the post when i was so much faster. I dont win anything by bragging and lying anyway.
I dont afford a Max Drive becuse i am driving R/C Racing and need some money for that very fun sport.

But i can say this, I will not cheat at any race ever becuse i finally found a forum that i can compare my ability with. So i just dont need to lie.

But i understand if you guys dont add me to the results or something like that. I am just happy to be a little part of this happy forum :dopey:

This is the first time I use the MaxDrive and am at quite a loss in recognizing the correct ghost replay to crunch and upload to the drive. I cannot see any date and only very small rotating icons. Suggestions please. :)

Do you have a spare memory card? If so, this is the process I use.

1. Rename the replay in replay theater of the GT4 game. This moves the replay to the top of the list as the newest save, and makes your replay recognizable to reviewers when they download it to their own card.

2. Go into "Browser" mode on your PS2. That would be with the lid open on a slim or the tray ejected on a fat PS2.

3. Go to the memory card that the replay is saved on. Copy the first ghost replay (Top left replay) to the alternate memory card.

4. As long as you are sure there are no other ghost replays on the spare memory card, the replay will be easy to locate in the max drive screens.

I don't always know which on is which when doing 2 replays, but there is also a software application Sphinx created here for that purpose if you ever need to know which replay is which. 👍

Hope this helps. 👍

Thanx for the tips EDK, that was a big help indeed. 👍

I did the following:
1. Rename the replay
2. Go to the PS2 browser (with a reboot without disc)
3. Wrote down the name of the first file shown (in this case GT4 GhostReplay[41])
4. Restart the PS2 with the MaxDrive disk and locate and copy the file.

Easy as pie. :dopey:

Now let's hope that it is indeed the correct one. :sly:

Got the MaxDrive issues sorted thanks to advice from someone with similar past issues. :)

Of all things, I was able to use my PSP as my USB drive.

So here's MY replay, and going to check stidriver's now.

Thanx man. 👍

What makes you say that my footwork is nice? :)

I have not been driving very long with a G25 and am learning to use it by trail and error. For instance, I noticed on Deep Forest in Race I that the car retained its grip in the corner just before the first tunnel when I started using the accelleator again while still letting the break come up. It works great, but I don't understand why.

Heh, I thought you were using wheel as the acceleration-brake gauges moved so smooth compared to my normal drive
I'm more like on/off type DS2 user, but sometimes I make an exeption .

accelerate while still braking -> car stabilises (suspension neutralises)
braking moves weight infront and acceleration the opposite.
at this point mostly only bodyroll is affecting turning.

I hope this gives you an idea of car physics when applied to cornering.

That technique works well (A little too well) on GT4. It's well chronicled, with some users taking significant advantage by braking while never releasing the accelerator.

Now, GT5P with pro physics is a completely different story. If anything, having overlap just messes you up. The engine tends to override the brake, more like what would happen in real life. So because I've been playing both games, the overlap in my pedal technique has become less and less. This also became the case when I moved from a DFP on a crappy homemade setup to a G25 with a Playseat.

That said, I was definitely using some of it on this combo :dopey:, not as much on week 1.

Here's my replay and stidriver, its a Bavarian Dog Fight indeed, nice win! 👍

Clean and green, a nice, smooth run. A lesson in throttle and braking control, for sure.

This one is finished up. 👍
