I love this 2012 650i deal here. Not too many stylish BMWs since the late 1990s, but this is one of the loveliest 21st Century BMWs to me. Those pictures in Post #1 look great. I usually prefer BMWs in silver or black (as I do Audis or Mercedes-Benz models), but red looks very nice on this one.

I'll like the coupe, but the convertible is not a good looking car. Any front view is nice but you can always see van Hoonydoonk's "shark fin" accents when the tops down, and they look so god awful to me. At this price, couldn't you just have fun, BMW style, and GT cruising in an M3 or M5?

I didn't feel like the convertible was that bad-looking in Chicago. Like a lot of the newer vehicles as of late, the photographs generally make it look worse than it actually is. I think the most noticeable difference is that new new 6er seems tall, which is weird for a coupe (or a convertible, in this case).

At this rate, BMW better start making wood chippers; although the old 6-series was the ugliest impersonation of a Dodge Stratus I've ever known...it caused kittens to haz Boca Burgers.
I always liked Car and Driver's take on it being a Chinese interpretation of a 4th generation Camaro.

Too bad it doesn't look nearly as good as the old 8 series...

So the Gran Coupe is finally unveiled. The first 4 door 6 (I believe it is F14). Personally, as a massive fan of the Six... I approve :D

Just can't wait for the M version, and maybe an Alpina B6 Gran Coupe :D

That actually looks... okay. Not the biggest fan of recent big BMWs but in transition from coupe to sedan it seems to have gained some personality. The rear lights are still a bit of a mess but the rest works quite well.

Yes, I completely agree! 👍 I don't think either this new 6 Series, good as it looks, or the old one can touch the 8 Series in the looks department. The 8 was an exceptional grand tourer, and I don't think BMW will ever be able to top it.

But relative to the previous gen 6 Series, this new one looks very lithe and taut - the design is so much more focused and sharpened. It's a big improvement over the previous one, especially in the rear.

I just hope the convertible has a folding hardtop instead of a cloth-top this time around.

F1x Generation 6 series convertible features a cloth-top, and has been on the market for a few months now. Next 3 series will have folding hardtop - as the current gen does.

I'm confused. There's a need for a sedan sized in between a 5 and a 7 so they make one between those dimensions and call it a 6? Can we have a 4 next year too?

Oh sorry, I didn't realize there was a gap between their bigass, expensive**** sedan, and their really bigass, really expensive**** sedan.

But it's a BMW of course, and for every BMW there are two cigar smoking weasels looking for a new throne.

I think they are making 2 series.

Ooookay Mr Haterboy, I think Eric was kind of agreeing that a saloon between the 5 & 7 is pointless?

He was, but he didn't make the point hard enough to suit me. What he tried to say, but failed because he is timid, is that this car is retarded but some asshole will still buy it.

Yup, I'd buy it. But ass-holes buying expensive cars is pretty much a given.

I don't understand why you consider the car retarded though?

Well, Audi have a saloon between their 'bigass, expensive**** sedan', and their 'really bigass, really expensive**** sedan' so BMW want a share of that market...

Yeah but the Audi is actually a good car, and is elegantly designed. Plus it's actually shaped like a coupe, unlike this car. Plus, it doesn't butcher a classic nameplate, as this supposed 6-series sedan does.

Nice, I bet it's balanced pretty well compared to an oddly balanced a7.
Oddly, as in an award-winning excellent car that also looks fantastic? These are luxury sedans, not sports cars, and the BMW is ugly as a bald dog's ass just like the rest of them.

The 6 Series sedan is what the 5 Series GT should have been. That way the coupes could keep their naming heritage and BMW would have a nice sports sedan that doesn't look like 🤬.

As for the A7, it looks ok from some angles but not others. The BMW sedan looks gorgeous from any angle.

All BMWs designed since the E65 debuted have been among the ugliest and most incongruent automotive designs ever crafted. It is simply ugly. It looks fat and heavy. Ponderous.

I described the A7 as elegant because it is. It's very simple and sleek, and appears light and nimble. One of Audi's best designs currently, and Audi has a history of excellent designs.

still wayyyyyy too big, it kind of annoys me when someone is driving it alone in a busy part of the city and eating up so much room, and BMW drivers doesn't give a damn about right of way.

I don't really regard the A7 as much of a 4 door coupe myself, it's much closer in layout and bodystyle to 5 door 'fast-back' saloons and in that respect it's more of a competitor to the 5GT rather than the 6GC. Probably the A5 sportback is closer to being a coupe (and also better proportioned than the A7 in my opinion) as the A5 is at last a coupe.

The Gran Coupe is a 6 series, which is a coupe, with 4 doors, that makes it the closest thing to a 4 door coupe in this segment IMO.

And as far as the 6 series being a classic nameplate goes, you're right, it is... way more so than A7/S7 is.... however, offering the Gran Coupe isn't butchering it in any way as far as I'm concerned.

They may have priced the entry level models too highly though, that's my only real concern.

also, for the sake of balance.. the A7 is a tired-eyed, bland, gaping mouthed, saggy-assed dog dragging it's wormy butt along the ground... and is also bough by ass-holes. :sly:
