Oh yea they would show up rattle off 5 or so misdemeanors they could get us for ( usually like loitering in empty parking lots, or trespassing) then tell us to go home after they thought they had showed enough authority. We never did go home though:sly: but back to bmx, how far along is everyone? Like bunnyhop 360's 180-360 stair gaps or like tailwhiping around town?

I'm still learning, but 180s is like my best, i can kinda of tabletop, feeble and double peg grind, manual nose manual etc. learning flat 3's now

Wow backflips:tup:
When I stopped I could 360, 180 stairs/gaps, the usual hopping on and off stuff, 180 x up, heel clickers, no handers and some other stuff that I forget because it's been a while since I rode. It's killing me talking about it and not riding though:D

That's a nice sort there man.

If it's killing you to talk about it and not ride, then why don't you ride?
:sly:

Nice man 👍

Tabletop's are hard, and I can't even grind yet so you've got one on me :dopey:

It ruined my back good, I'm still sorting it out and it's been over a year since my back started giving me problems. I don't mind some pain but I'd wake up after a hard day biking and couldnt walk, sit or drive. Believe me I want to.:D
And guitar flat threes are tough to get, good luck:tup:

Ah, fair enough mate. Bmx can be a literal pain sometimes, atleast the thrist for Bmx is still there 👍

And whats a guitar flat three? Or should I just google it? Haha :sly:

No I was commenting on guitar613 learning flat 360's.

Dude that sucks did you mess your back up from riding?
Anyway yea flat threes are hard I've been trying for like six months with a new technique every time. First it was 180 tire tap to 3 or whatever, then 180 to 180 fakie, and now I've learned that when you spin if you turn your head you spin more or faster i'm not sure but anyway it worked.

Nice man

Well i would call them baby table tops :P. i can't quite get the bike completely level with the ground and grinds were surprisingly easy. though i will admit I've only grinded my fun box i built not a rail.

next trick on the agenda is a footplant, gotta wait till the rain stops though

Yea went over the bars doing like 30 mph off a dirt pile, yea it was stupid I busted my head up good and messed up my lower vertebra. I rode for 2 years after that but it became too bad to deal with.
As for flat threes I never got them down, just one here and there, but try to keep it flat. That way you won't have to deal with accidental tire taps, trust me theyre so frustrating.

Oh my god, that sucks, and thanks for the advice.

I don't know that I really belong in this thread since I'm not much a rider, more of a collector. I do ride 'em but not often, usually I'm on one of my road bikes.

The '81 Mongoose has been rebuilt with the correct nickel forks which are original to the frame and the Motomags swapped out for '81 red Skyway alloy-flange Tuffs. I just haven't taken new pics for my BMXM profile yet. Pic here, second one in...

The rest of them are linked in my signature to my BMXMuseum profile. The '90 GT Mach One is 100% complete and original.

Dude that's sick i love old school BMX bikes
thats a funny seat on that first bike, is that the '81 mongoose?

The one on the far left is a '78 short frame with a 16.5" TT. That's why it has the breadloaf seat. It has a very rearward weight distribution because you sit basically over the rear tire. It wheelies REALLY easy too. If you want to get around a corner quickly you really need to lean over the front. :D

A person I know over the internet (and who I've never met but talk to on the phone frequently, genuinely cool dude) gave that '78 to me. He got it in a bike trade between friends in the early 80's and rode it around for a few years. It had been sitting in his barn since the late 80's and he had sold a few parts from it. He decided to send it to me after he saw another bike I'd built and at that point all that was left were the cranks w/original bearings, frame, pedals, and wheels. I already had most of the correct parts to put it back together and what I didn't have came from eBay.

What I like about these old bikes are the details like the factory stamping or casting (<--there's a broken "spoke" in this pic, this frame has stories) their logo into just about everything.

Or stuff like machining a braking surface into solid cast aluminum rim. I'm not saying it's better because obviously we progress through technology, but they just don't make stuff like that anymore.

Dude, you so belong in this thread!

Those bmx's are classics and are awesome. They paved the way for what we call a bmx today.

I've give anything to have a sweet collection like that
That GT Mach One is superb, I hope you look after them with very special care, they are priceless to me.

That's a really slow top tube, but I love the seat so much that I want it on my bike, is that weird? :dunce:

thats so sick plus the fact the bike is 33 years old.

Ha, I know right? Man, Bmx has come a long way.

The detail into those bikes are mind blowing to me.

They really don't make 'em like they used to anymore, but I reckon the attention to detail in this S&M frame isn't too bad.

This frame might be the start of a new project for me actually, ha.

(Sorry mods, but I just figured out how to multipost now.)

Honestly as much as I love classic cars, motorcycles and pretty much everything else I'm not too big on old school bmx. Don't hate me but 25-9 sealed everything and a 24 lb complete just sound amazing to me. Plus a low profile top tube is nice.

We all have our own tastes man, it's cool. I'm not really concerned with weight when it comes to Bmx though, I think the parts have to be strong enough to with-stand my constant backflips :sly:

Thats a nice Colony Lowcut too. I've actually seen a frame in that Wasabi color in the sunlight, and it's a bit weird to be honest.

Maybe it's just me but it's too full-on.

What do you ride on mate?

Ive got my custom with an eastern birectional back wheel stolen cranks nitrous chromoly bars dk chromoly forks all on an eastern nitrous frame.(the good chromoly one).

lol, you would be concerned with weight if you ride that '78 Mongoose. It's 35.5 lbs! I have the gearing at 44/18 just so it can be ridden, it's impossible to get anywhere with 44/16 @ 35lbs.

Yeah, these modern bikes will blow the old bikes away though. S&M and Standard are probably making the best quality American-built (mostly) frames these days. If I were to get back into BMX then I'd build a bike around a Standard 125R frame in raw.

Standard also has a lifetime warranty for all their frames, regardless if it's the original owner or not. Who else does that these days for ANYTHING?

The 125r is really nice. Alot of the aftermarket frames have a lifetime warranty. My eastern nitrous has a lifetime upgrade warranty.

Nice man 👍 The Eastern's are built to last. That birectional back wheel sounds interesting too..

Whoa, that's alot of weight for a bike. Ha, that gearing sounds so old school.

I love the raw looking frame's, they look so mechanical.

That warranty is awesome, I haven't heard of that before.

I wish Colony did a lifetime warranty.

05 Hoffman. Pure tank of bike.
I wanted to get into vert when I was younger, when I first got it, but the closest vert ramp for me is Philadelphia. I stick to mtb now. Feel more stable with them, but I still hit jumps with my good ol Hoffman.

The birectional is cool. You can flip the driver to be right drive or left hand drive and it's crazy loud.
I don't get why colony doesn't have a lifetime warranty, there stuff is super strong and expensive. What's it weigh by the way?

I bet, the Hoffman's are legendary 👍 I'm a sucker for a good orange frame too

My mate has a '03 Hoffman, I forget the name of it. He's always blasting the trails with me. I think he's came with stock triple wall wheels too :dunce:

By the way, is that an Odyssey 41 thermal fork I see there?

That sounds awesome mate. I'd love to ride left hand side, see how it feels, especially on the trails :dopey:

Yeah, Colony's products are top notch, and I don't really know why it doesn't have a lifetime warranty. It doesn't bother me too much though, I relish the experience of buying a new bike if/when the time comes. I don't have many hobbies, so Bmx is free to take my money, she's worth it ;)

And my '10 Teddy Frame weighs like 2.5kg (5.5lb).

My complete bike weighs about 10.5kg (23lb).

Ha, I can't believe that I'm not concerned with weight in a Bmx and yet I actually weighed my Bmx to answer your question :dunce:

Wow 23 lbs in pretty good for someone who doesn't care about weight.👍 although the colony frame is kinda on the heavy side, but their bomb proof so it's all good.
