Bob's career bar

This seems to be one of the last mysteries in the game and I still haven't seen any definitive answer here/elsewhere to the question: What is the quickest way to fill the career bar and get 'The Air of Experience Trophy'?

I too have multiple Bob's with varying career levels that I can't rationalize. Some insist that it is '500' races, others say it is the difficulty of the races, etc.?

If it was purely the number of races then why are there people (like me) who have one driver with twice as many wins/races as the next on in our stable, yet both have the same amount in the career bar? It can't be the difficulty of the races because I have been using my first Bob almost exclusively on the upper level races, yet his career bar seems stuck.

Alternative theories...

- Bob should drive a variety of different cars (FR, MR, etc.) and tracks to round out his experience with each, which will enhance his career.

- Hot-headed Bob's burn work themselves harder and burn through the career bar faster than a cold-blooded Bob.

I just want to be done with B-Spec and don't look forward to grinding 200 Sunday Cups to make it happen. There is no way that is how this game is intended to be played, IMHO.

The reason 1 of your bobs could feasibly have double the amount of races, but not have a more advanced career bar is because of 1 of 2 reasons:

1 - Your BOB with more races was shared whilst the other driver was racing. It has been verified that shared drivers do not earn career experience whilst shared.

2 - Remote Races increase the wins/races figure for your driver, but do not increase the career bar...this again has been verified.

No, it's not a mystery at all. If it's 500 b-spec days, not races.
You started your b-spec career, you quickly got to level 5, and created the second driver after only a few b-spec days had gone by. But you still kept racing only the first guy afterwards, thus he has raced more than your second driver with almost (not noticeably) the same career progress.

..........Each B-Spec driver reaches the peak of their career at 500 B-Spec days. At this point you will get the trophy and their skills will start to deteriorate a lot faster. To keep an eye on this, you can go to the driver line-up screen (Helmet icon on the GT Life screen). What you want to look at is his career (PAL)/ experience (NTSC) bar. When that reaches 100%, this trophy will unlock.

As mentioned, a B-Spec driver reaches his full potential when he has had a 500 day long career. The only way to advance days in B-Spec is to race B-Spec races in career mode. To get this trophy as easy as possible, you should focus on this trophy with the first driver you create. Let him take part in every race so that he gets better. While skill probably has nothing to do with this trophy, it doesn't hurt that your first driver takes part in every race so that he becomes as good as he can be. You also need to get a driver to Class 30 for the "A Star is Born", so I suggest going for both trophies with the same driver.

If you don't get this trophy by the time you reach LV 40 in B-Spec mode, I suggest doing Sunday Cup over and over in B-Spec mode. This is the fastest way to advance days in B-Spec mode.

I'm just not getting it - no offense. :)

Maybe you could elaborate? You're saying there is no correlation between days and races? I thought that races=days (according to ianblake)? Not sure how you have separated the two. So what if I created a second driver a few days after the first? I have used him a fraction as much yet he has the same career marker on his graph. If you have a method that is eluding the rest of us please post it in detail.

This seems to make sense but the reality is you have people filling the career bar with different race totals - just look at this thread. And people have done it in less than 500 races/days. Somehow I don't think that entering Sunday Cup in B-Spec 500 times is the way to do this - if anyone has done that please confirm it.

He is right, it's very simple. Days and races are not the same, for the bob. Your first bob is the oldest, so he has the most days. But he might not have the most races.

Let's say your first bob has done 20 races. Your second bob was created a week later, but he's done 200 races. If you keep doing the sunday cup over and over with the second bob, only his race count increases, but the day count increases for both bobs. Thus, the first bob should reach 500 days first, if he is not shared online. Even if the other bob does the races.

Thanks for being patient - I just got it. Race total doesn't matter, it is how long the guy has been around. Period.

I was thrown because I created my second driver as soon as I could but didn't use him. I wanted to stick with my first driver to get the 'A Star is Born' and 'The Air of Experience' trophies. When I finally did use the second driver, due to the first being in a funk, his experience bar jumped significantly even though he has been run a fraction of the time. I thought it was because he was running a more difficult, higher level race but it was simply because he was created early in my B Spec odyssey. I think that 'Experience' in the NTSC version is a misleading title and 'Career' in the PAL version is more apt. Why would you gain experience if you didn't race that day? The reward is clearly for running a lot of B Spec races and keeping a driver around for all of that time, I get that now.

So I guess I have to grind out total races to reach 500 in addition to the experience I need to get from level 36-40. Yay.

Thread resurrection:
Would simply loading the Sunday Cup, and NOT racing it, back out, repeat, have any effect? Similar to cycling days for the UCD. I know it wouldn't make much sense, but since we are talking about DAYS here and not RACES.. you never know.

Yes, verified. Bobs set online do not increase their experience/career bar. The race/wins total does include online races though.
I've got 6 bobs in my alt account who've only ever raced in remote online races and they're all on Lvl 16 - 20

Mind you, my main Bob from Day 1 is only half 'careered' on 240 Wins/292 Races, while my 3ed oldest is at the same point off 55 Wins/122 Races, which probably includes a lot of remote racing.

So nothing I've read on this thread rings 100% true in my experience.

Still might try out the short race thing to see if anything moves.

Chaps... I hate to be the bearer of bad news but nothing in this thread appears to be correct.

1. I have roughly 1200 game days.
2. My top bob (who has done VERY minimal online racing) is level 40, and has 273 wins out of 388 races.
3. His personality is roughly 98% hot.

I have not achieved this trophy, and his career/experience bar is roughly 75-80% full. He is starting to get the white whiskers at the end of his skills now.

Next.

My 2nd most used bob.
1. Is level 39 with 218 wins out of 422 races (used online and in game for most of the events except endurance and beginner).
2. His personality is mostly cool, say 80% cool.
3. His experience/career bar is LESS than 50%.

My bspec level is 40 and I only have 1 more race to do.

So clearly:
1. It is NOT 500 game days.
2. It is NOT 500 wins.
3. It is NOT 500 races.

However, I can definitively confirm that it IS affected by online status. So, any time a driver is online, they are not "earning" experience/career.

i can confirm this!!
load race,..start and cancel over and over.
the career bar fills very slow and ucd updates every start.
its a very fast way to refresh to ucd.

all offline bob's are increasing career bar.

I don't know if this has already been discussed, I only skimmed the thread.

There seems to be a corrolation between the drivers "personality" and the career bar.

I have a level 27 "cool" driver, who's done 100 races, career bar is 1/8th full.

I also have a level 8 "hot" driver, who's done 20 races, and his career bar is also 1/8th full.

I tested this somewhat with my super hot and super cold drivers, 10 races each, all the same car and track, the hot driver's career had advanced further than the cool drivers career.

So if anyone is going for the trophy, and rather impatient, my findings sofar suggest that a hot driver "burns out" faster, thus his career will peak faster.

yep i'm totally lost on this too...or at least I think so. please correct me if I am off on this.

I've been doing b spec all weekend. Have 2 drivers, as I have not yet entered a b spec race that required more than one driver...but made the 2nd just to test this stuff....

I have ~43 b spec races complete on the first driver, who is now a level 21 (which is my overall b spec level). he has won every single race. I also raced 2 online remote races, both of which he also won. I did that just to see any effects on the career/experience bar. I forgot how little one race moves that thing anyway, so I have no idea if the 2 remote races effected it.

So I made the 2nd driver as soon as I was allowed to, but he has not raced in a single event of any kind. Never used him for anything. My 1st driver (level 21) is about an 1/8th through the career/experience bar...BUT...my 2nd driver, who has never done anything...also has a small bump on his career bar. Its not completely empty iirc. But i've had him since my overall b spec was a level 5. he has been around for about 90% of my b spec career, so if he is supposed to automatically gain career, shouldn't he be at about 90% of bob #1?

I think what is confusing, at least NTSC people, is that the 'experience' bar actually has nothing to do with 'exp' you get in the game for various races. Its more or less confirmed that this has something to do with 'game days'...I know thats obvious to some, but sadly it took me forever to figure that out. The 'career' name for PAL territories makes A LOT more sense.

What I haven't confirmed is that many people claim that ANY game day, a or b spec, counts towards this experience/career bar. If you do A spec races, that bar will increase on any driver that is not shared online...at least according to some people, i haven't payed close enough attention yet. Only did the A spec indy 500 this weekend since i started b spec, to get that 20 million credit jag...to find out i'm absolutely horrible at driving it; thats another issue altogether.

I think the other thing that gets some of us lost is that people are talking about how to slow down this career bar, which many of us aren't interested in yet. So online races DO NOT count towards the career bar? They are just for grinding cash and level? I'm about to start a big remote race thing all week from work, and was interested to know if this is true.

p.s. anyone can send me an invite looking for remote races. I'm going to run them all week from work. Just got a refurbed slim after my old one popped, and only have the warranty for 90 days...if the poor thing is going to be left on for weeks on end, I'm definitely doing it while its under warranty haha.

ok nevermind. I just checked my driver lists again and can confirm that my 2nd driver has not gained ANY career/experience. That make sense in that he has never driven in a single race...but many other people are saying thats not how it works?

Does this mean in my first race that that 2nd driver is in, he will then get a big bump in career? Like the game stores game days, but it doesn't adjust that bar until you use him?

this is all way more confusing then it needs to be...

I am A-32, S-lic Gold, and never quite touched B-spec at all, until I recently wanted to 'venture' into the recent update news, about remote B-racing, and how we can do it from our 'browser/computer'. A week later, I am from B-5 (from manual GT5 career, 1 driver), now to B-27, with 6 online drivers, and approx $2 million richer from having perfect strangers give me free money for no apparent reason...

I can attest that, all my 6 online shared drivers, have gained Zero ( 0 ) experience / career bar. I was wondering too before, how to get this up. I guess to the endurance tracks they go!

Will Bobs' career bar increase if we do the remote race?

I can't confirm until i get home in a few hours, but I think it increases only once you 'accept prizes' for that particular driver. It definitely doesn't move on its own. I have had 6 up since my last post a few days ago and their career bars have not moved at all.

They all have 3 bubbles worth of prizes though after a lot of remote races, should make an obvious bump to all of their career bars so i'll know for sure. A lot of them right now are at zero still.

I am fairly certain remote races that other people run for your bobs do not increase your exp bar.

But if you race your own driver, then it does count towards the exp bar.

Too bad I had two B-Spec drivers share all the races. Now both of them got about 180 Wins and 60% career.
I guess it's time for a couple of Sunday Cup Races in the X1 :)

I'm still on this, trying to get over 80%, not even aiming for the Platinum Club.

I think you missed this (I'm trying it out tonight), you do not need to race, just start the race:

i can confirm this!!
load race,..start and cancel over and over.

all offline bob's are increasing career bar.

Since I still need some not tradable cars, this seems a good combination.

I have 4 bspec drivers that I use and one is my main. He is about 1/3 full and has 90 wins and 93 losses. I entered him and 3 others into the grand valley 300km they were all level 0. 3 out of the four were actually used in the race and they are almost the same as my main driver and in strength, mental strength, etc. And they only have one race...kinda confusing

This is not true, it doesn't work.
I've tested it - entered the track 50 times and I didn't see any movement of the carrier bar (I've used a picture to compare it with).

So to sum it up:
It's NOT 500 B-spec game days;
It's NOT 500 wins;
It IS 500 races finished.

It does work on game day principe but you have to get to the exp-add screen (the screen after the race finishes) so you can recieve your exp. If you use 1 B-spec driver - the others will get their carrier bar filled too.

It IS 500 races finished.

I agree from my experiments.

So my current set up:

1 driver
hot character
finishing simple/quick races

N.B.: just starting and directly stopping the race is enough for a day in the game though, so to change the UCD, this is a pretty fast method (not a lot of loading of the track, nor long time to execute).

P.S.: since I used the driver online I can not confirm the 500 number, it seems that is not 100% stable.

Are there any thoughts on how the driver's arrows or mood affect gaining experience? I've been grinding Sunday cup races and the exoereince bar was progressing. Now the past few days it doesn't seem to have moved and his arrow has been down or even lately.

I got this with 482 races. It has to be when your Bob is listed as a driver in My Drivers for 500 races. He does not have to drive in it. I don't know about being online available, I had him set for that during 2 races other drivers were Bob-bing.
