From AWD to FWD dominance... More rebalancing needed...

I am noticing it feels like with a heavier rwd that you have to hit every mark perfectly to keep up with the Fast and Furious style cars but the fast and furious cars can bounce over curbings and get out of shape coming out of corners but it never seems to affect or slow their pace or acceleration.

I had an instance where I driving a Viper was in a side by side drag race with a VW Scirocco down the front straight in the GR4 Dragon Trail daily race and we stayed side by side for the first 80% of the straights length and I was in 6th gear and flat wide open in the Viper and a VW starts pulling away on the top end?

I could see if the Scirocco maybe pulled a bit in the beginning of the straight due to power to weight ratio but to start pulling a gap on the top end? Pfft! In brand central it states the Viper top speed rating to be 6.3 and the Scirocco to be 6.1. I would interpret that to mean that the Viper had more top end but that is not what it showed on the track today.

Just for the heck of it I had a gr4 WRX in my garage that was a gift car. I have never driven that car at all. On my third lap in the WRX I was a couple of tenths faster than my best time in the GR4 Viper which I have been driving since launch and according to my garage stats have driven this car 1701 miles and know the cars limits in my hands at least pretty well.

I have also driven my GR3 Viper another 1164 miles so my total time driving a Viper is 2,865 miles.

I should not be able to take a car in the same class that has a totally different configured drive train that I have never driven and be immediately faster than a car I am familiar with unless the BOP is broken making the WRX so much easier to drive at a race pace and the cars are not equal.

I never understood how cars bouncing over curbings or getting out of shape did not lose any pace on the track but it is pretty obvious that after my test to me anyway that the fast and furious rice burner cars do have the advantage over the heavier rear wheel drives in GR4 anyway and do not require the same precision driving skills to be fast.

Yup, BOP in GR.4 is indeed a bit broken at the moment. I tried running a few other cars on Maggiore for several laps before I decided to try the Scirocco, which I had seen all over the LB. I was immediately 2-3 seconds faster in the VW and put in a top 10 qual time with ease. BOP needs an adjustment.

The Megane was too fast before the update, now it'll handle better too, it'll be a one make race on any track with long straights now. Even if you can match it's pace with other cars over a lap and that is a big if, come race time all of them will swamp you with the slipstream and it's straight line speed and then just hold you up everywhere else, until the next straight where they will power away.

Running a faster lap in a race than you did qualifying should then make that fast lap your quali time for next time. Sandbagging would become pointless, and those too lazy to qualify will get to do it in traffic.

The biggest question for me about setting BOP is, who do PD have in mind when setting BOP? Are they leveling the cars out for the average driver, or for highly skilled drivers? If the top 10 times feature a lot of different cars, then it's likely the BOP is correct for skilled drivers, and the cars are well-balanced. If the top 10 times are dominated by one make or style (like FF) then they probably missed the mark with the settings.

Suzuka Gr4 top ten today is completely filled with Meganes and Sciroccos. Why on earth are they still putting up Gr4 daily races with it like this?! :banghead: Would anyone like to argue that FF should do well at Suzuka?

Obviously I've no idea what they actually do, but to my mind neither the top 10 or the average driver would set BoP well. Right at the very top (2 or 3), the aliens are making use of every last facet of a car - if that happens to be the same car it doesn't neceessarily mean very much. Even in a one-make, you can often see quite a gap between them and the rest of the top ten. Conversely, the average driver isn't usually making decent use of any car's individual abilities. Possibly the best would be, say, those who rank 20th to 100th, where in a one make they might all be within a tenth or two of each other - which maybe indicates they would be good at setting reference lap times.

When the Megane is dominating at Suzuka you know the update has made these cars way op. My best time is in the Scirocco (also OP) but I switched to the Megane and from my race pace I reckon if I put a few laps in a row in qualifying I'd take a few tenths off it quite easily, it's not quite as good at a couple of the corners but it's speed more than makes up for it. Others in cars like the 4C, Vette, Viper, etc have no chance against it.

I generally go against the grain, if I see a certain car being used by a lot of people because it's proven to be very dominant, I will avoid using it. Is that stupid on me (and those with similar mindsets) to not use that car? or are those using that faster car considered "cheating" for using an obviously dominant car?

When PD updates the BoP next week, another car will be the strongest, more people will use it, more will complain, maybe we'll hit a perfect balance someday. maybe.

Just won in the corvette at suzuka grp4.

DRA SRS, top 12 covered by 1s in qualifying (me 2nd). Leader went off beginning of lap 3, I hung on for the win, defending for my life last 3 Laps... 3 wife in to turn 1 at one stage

Super clean race. Couple of new friends made :)

They can be beat, but takes a lot of effort, and a lot of race craft!
