Bram Turismo's photo album

Very nice. People don't get enough credit for "real photo mode" even though it is much harder and more of a challenge than the GT5 Photo Mode.

- Liège -

Three and a half years since I created this thread, and so little updates. Madness!

It's been a long while since I last posted in this thread, but I'm on a holiday once again. Being an almost finished educated constructional engineering student I really wanted to visit the train station in Liège, Belgium. God, I wish I had a proper camera with a wide-angle lens!

I didn't travel alone, so people in general were being impatient which made for more point-and-shoot photos, rather than well-thought photos. Once I start working, perhaps I should get a decent camera and start putting more time into my photos.

That building in the first few shots is incredbile! :) Great photos 👍

the gare de liege is really a great motive to shot.
Nice shots, nice city for an industrial city

Ohh Liège, the memories (or lack of ;))

!

Thanks for the visit, peeps! I went to Brugge/Bruges as well, but I forgot my camera! Brugge was beautiful, and easily my favourite city in my homeland so far. I did take images on my iPhone, I might try and copy some over onto my PC and see whether I can turn them into something interesting.

I also made a short video-clip of the plane taking off in very foggy conditions. But once we cleared the fog we had a view on the sunset, and the sky around us was filled with beautiful colors. At these moments I think whether I should've studied for an airline pilot instead of an engineer!

Why hello there!

Massive revamp to this thread, even though sadly all the image links seem to have expired by now because Imageshack seems to have decided to go asswards.

Anyway, some of you might have seen me posting in the premium photography thread asking about a first-time DSLR camera. I was recommended the Canon EOS 600D, and that's what I got. It took an incredible 2 day journey for the camera to arrive in Belgium from Hong Kong.

I went for a walk to try and learn the camera a bit better. There are many modes available on the camera, and I've no idea which one does what. I just put it into manual mode, set the aperture as low as I could, the ISO to auto and controlled the exposure by the little spinning knob on the 600D. The goal is to get a hang of this thing before I go on holiday in the Stelvio area in Italy next month.

I only have GIMP for now to process images. I shot all of them i JPG because I've no idea what I'd do with a RAW file. I've always been rather inexperienced with colours and levels in images so all of these are in B&W with the levels edited slightly.

Told you the DigitalRev shipping was great ;). Good to see you're enjoying the 600D, the shots in the fields look great 👍

If it's possible, (on my Nikon it is) try to let the camera shoot it in RAW+JPEG. Not sure how to explain why you should shoot RAW, those fancy websites do it better. Look it up, I found much more room for improvement when shooting RAW.

If your Photoshop doesn't accept RAW, like mine because I have a version that couldn't bare daylight, convert them into DNG. Photoshop can read DNG, it's an open source format. Your RAW might be .cr2 (usually with Canon) and so it sometimes happens you work with software that doesn't support that format. DNG is open source, I can almost guarantee you you'll be able to open your photos the next 10 years as DNG with almost every image editing software.

Here's a small badge of photos I took on the day we drove up the Stelviopass. Weather was terrible the entire week we were in Italy, unfortunately. One day when the sun is out and I have a fisheye lens I shall return. The pass itself in my opinion didn't really live up to the hype, but the scenery was spectacular. I have more photos on the way from the various walks we did in the area, those are coming a bit later.

Hey guys!

Here are some photos from the village Trafoi, which is located at the base of the Stelviopass and where we camped. The walks in this region gave some spectacular sights, I hope these kind of give a good impression of the region! Enjoy 👍

Last and final badge of photos from my holiday in Italy. There were taken in the Dolomites. Very strange landscape, as if it were a playground for giants! Someday I hope to return here with a different lens as it was rather difficult fitting in everything into one shot at 18mm. The rocks pretty much go up 700m straight from the walking trail. I wonder if something funcky could've been done with long exposure times with the fog. I don't have any F-stop filters, though, and I didn't bring my tripod. Still, I think this set turned out pretty good! Enjoy

Nice tones! 👍

The B&W rocky highland stuff is really strong - I reckon it would look amazing displayed in a set!
