Why do you drive the car you do?

Unless everyone's favourite car legit became the 911 before it became the META, I have my doubts on this poll being an honest representation of the GTS players on the whole. The results have surprised me, but I still get 16/17/18 RSRs in every DR:A race I'm ever in.

Pretty cool though that GTP users on the whole don't just flock to the RSR.

Should rename the game to Porsche Challenge Remastered. ( Porsche Challenge, what a game! :P ).

I find I default to the RSR until I've found a different GR.3 car I like on that track. The RSR is so goddamn good at everything that it's a good do all car.
For example, I now drive the Aston Martin GR.3 on Bathurst, and I like driving the Viper GR.3 on Interlagos & the Mercedes on Nurb GP, other tracks I really haven't found a good alternative yet.

I actually did like the RSR the most from the beginning. IRL it is easily one of my favorite cars. When everyone went to it, I thought I would try some different cars. 1st I fell in love with the Z4, now I like the M6 even more.
I genuinely feel sorry for people like you, people that genuinely love the RSR, that are now getting grouped with the others that use it simply because it's 1% better than the others.

(Just to clarify before someone takes this the wrong way, just because I don't like everyone using the same car, doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't. Just my opinion.)

I remember seeing you in a GTR at Suzuka while I was in an R8. Most other people were in the RSR. I'm proud we kept a respectable finishing position! I think I actually have that replay saved somewhere.

Hopefully players like TRL_LIGHTNING, when they set rank 1 times in a car other than the RSR, people take note. He managed a 1:57.7 in the Citroen the other day. The RSR's were hovering around 1:58.3's.

Yeah was using the Lambo but without a setup change it's so unstable it becomes really hard to drive. But it's a strange one, I was in a high level Manufacturers race in the Lambo GT3 and managed to qualify high up somehow. Then I was JUST holding onto 4th, then span on the final turn of Nurb GP. I was then 13th. Clawed back to 8th or so and then set the fastest lap.

For a car everyone hates (including me, I gave it a solid go though) it HAS pace, buckets of pace, but it's just so hard to extract this pace. I have a feeling if I had a wheel I'd have more of a chance but the DS4+Lambo GT3 is just like GTS-Expert mode, and I can't do it for more than a few laps before either going slower or messing up :(.

My main gripe with people using the RSR is if more people used a larger variety the data for PD BoP balancing would be better and the balancing would be easier :/ .

I didn't actually switch to the GTR in an attempt to use another rarely used car either, but it turns out, no one uses the GTR? Weird one, it's extremely capable, although it is verrrry bad at standing starts.

The RSR was the first car I bought upon game release at launch, in prior games used the RUF a lot. I do not use it on every track as on some tracks I like other cars better.

I like how nimble the Z4 feels and use it a lot as well, have not been able to form the same bond with the M6 as of yet, feels so heavy to me. One of the few heavy cars I have a ton of miles with is the Viper.

I'm with you - big Lamborghini fan, but I can only use the Gr.4 one. The Gr.3 one is just crazy unstable....need TCS up to 3 just to make it through, versus 1 TCS for Gr. 4 and some tracks I even left the TCS off.

Actually, it is probably a good thing for me. It encouraged me to learn new cars. I had tried others but never put much time into them. Now, when I go back to the RSR on occasion. It takes me awhile to relearn it. I think the BMWs actually fit my style better.

I agree, the Z4 is very nimble and fun to drive. It was my go to for a while. For some reason though, I just really wanted to drive the M6. It took a while to figure out it's strengths. I just played with the BB until I got it to turn in how I wanted. It really fits how I like to drive, slow in/ fast off. Once you get the turn in right, she is a beast off the corners.

I feel like the poll is solely regarding the Manufacturer Cup rather than people’s choices in daily races or Nations Cup.

In Manufacturers I always go with Mazda due to loyalty, even though there’s plenty of more fun to drive cars in both classes. In Nations I generally am like most of the comments on here and pick what’s fastest since the goal is to get as many points as possible. I treat them like a one make race. I hate the 911 though, it doesn’t suit my driving style whatsoever, and I’ve never been a fan of Porsche in real life other than the 928 and 959 (and Jake Ryan’s red 944). In daily races there’s no pressure so I just use it as an opportunity to try new cars or pick whatever my newest livery is or whatever.

The WRX is my favourite in both classes, the McLaren Group 3 would be probably top it if it had more speed to go with the stability. I usually use FF and 4WD cars just to piss off the “real men drive real wheel drive” crowd. There’s still a lot of cars I haven’t used though.

I’ve tried all the cars but have stuck with my favorites. Mercedes, BMW, and sometimes Ferrari.

Love the GR3 AMG but hate the GR4 SLS.

All three BMW’s are Very good.

The Ferrari’s are fun but not very competitive.

Not really brand loyalty as such but I do try to find cars that are both lovely to drive and also the sort of car I would own if I could. My first decent car was the RSR and it was so good at everything that it became hard to put down.

I have done a lot of miles in the Gr.3 Alfa 4c and Mclaren because I love the cars and love driving them but I am normally 1-2 seconds slower in them than the porsche.

I have been exploring front engine cars more recently and love the Gr3 offerings from Aston and Jag and the BMW Z4. But I am still faster on most tracks I like in the RSR!

I drive what I can drive well. So far I've been with VW, Audi, Citroen, McLaren, Ferrari and Aston Martin currently and each has it's ups and downs. I try to vary for the Nations races but I tend to settle into one of those because they suit my style. I find that I am competitive with the people around me no matter what car I drive. I've been the guy in the Scirocco 17 seconds ahead and the guy that can beat the ridiculous Meganes in a 650S.

I find that most of the META cars a harder for me to drive, like the M4. That car and I don't get along for whatever reason. The understeer in the Megane and TT was ridiculous when they were good so I avoided those as well, though the Scirocco was pretty good. I haven't tried the Porsche much either.

I race the car i want to and dont really think about how fast it is compared to others. Like the picture i added shows, you can still get great results by choosing other cars than what most people think are the best.

I race all cars what's the point of buying a game and using on a couple of percent of what's on offer

I bought the game stricky for racing other people online. I only use GR3 and GR4 cars and really have no interest in driving any of the standard or VGT cars. If they ever bring GR1 into Sport mode I will probably race them.

Basically, people buy games for different reasons.

It's loyalty for me. I have worked for the Ford Motor Company for over 20 years now. So when I seen that GTS lets you sign a contract with a manufacturer naturally I chose Ford. I'm just fortunate that the Mustang is not all that terrible in the game as of now.

You are right about the BMW Z M4 its a bit of an underrated car the M6 is too 'heavy' I find I have to push it too hard to get it up to race speed and in the right gears so I can't be bothered with it I used to think that of the Schulze GTR but I wasn't driving it properly and that was back in GT5. I tried the Viper on Dragon Trail today and was surprised at a 1:46.535 on my first racing speed lap so there is potential with that maniac I just haven't finessed the porsche yet need to get my wheel set up its all boxed up in a room somewhere :banghead: I think its a case of the best tool for the task when it comes to cars, I think they are all pretty ha ha

The wheel does make a difference, at least for me. There are cars that I can't drive for the life of me with a DS4.

The wheel is a must have for GT its like trying to drive with pigs tits otherwise ha ha ...just no sensitivity or feel for where the car is going in corners etc and don't get me started on accelerator brake. That said the DS4 does an admirable job for a controller. I found it so easy to get all the gold licences once I had the wheel I could even drive crazy cars like the REd Bull flat out and almost match Senna's Lap times on GT 6 ...no chance there he's a racing god
