Brazilian V8 Stock Car 2005 Season News (Topic Renamed)

Nothing really new to talk about.

We received 2 brand new engines from ZF. Still building up the cars. 2 cars for Stock Car V8 and 1 for Stock Car Light. (Although we probably will have another car on the Light division)

The bodies already have been painted, so when we finish the car we'll only need to "cover" it. :)

UPDATED:

Some rumours:

- At least 8 cars on the championship will use the Mitsubishi Lancer body.
- This is probably not true, but anyways. I heard that Honda might enter too.
- No news of Renault since December 2004.

As for now i can only say that 2005 will have Chevrolet Astra Sedan and Mitsubishi Lancer.

Mitsu Lancer? I'm pretty sure it has to be front-engine/rear-drive instead of the normal front-engine/4-wheel-drive configuration, right?

Mitsu Lancer? I'm pretty sure it has to be front-engine/rear-drive instead of the normal front-engine/4-wheel-drive configuration, right?

All cars are Front-engine (ZF V8 5.7L) / Rear drive

The only difference on the Astra Sedan / Mitubishi Lancer are the bodies itself, plus other stuff that are legal to change / modify, like suspensions, gearbox, rear spoiler angles,...

Chassis, brakes, engine, wheels, tyres, are all the same for all cars. It's almost exactly like how Germany's V8 Stars championship.

Sorry for the lack of post, but there's a lot of work to do.

Just something you might want to know. I saw a fully built car with the Mitsubishi Lancer body. Painted with all sponsors graphics. The car is from Bennamed-Nascar Competições (don't get confused with the Nascar name plz). Unfortunately no pictures were allowed, since Mitsubishi is going to make a press event to show up their entrance on the championship.

If you think the Chevrolet Astra (pictured below) is beautiful, you'll like to know that the Lancer is even more beautiful.

More info as soon as i get it. 👍

If only America had the Chevy Astra...

Well, it's all good, Johnny. I just want to say that I've enjoyed supporting you and your efforts in Brazlian Stock Car. I may not have money or anything, but you have my moral support for you and your team. That's promised until either I die or get Banned (same thing, right?).

Some news:

Luciano Burti, former F1 driver, was confirmed today to drive one car of RC Competições. The other driver will be Antônio Jorge Neto, that fought for the championship last year.

MITUBISHI MOTORSPORT PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT

I'll let the pictures talk for themselves

I'll try to get better and bigger pics. Gonna post them as soon as possible.

Teams that will use the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII body

Bennamed-Nascar
Drivers: Ricardo Etchenique and Valdeno Brito

Officer-Pamplona Motorsport
Drivers: Duda Pamplona

Filipaper-AMG Motorsports
Drivers: Ingo Hoffmann and Sandro Tannuri

Avallone Motorsport
Drivers: Christian Fittipaldi and Felipe Maluhy

Katalogo Racing
Drivers: Fábio Carreira and Pedro Gomes

This means that 9 cars will be Lancer's and the rest (maximum of 29) will be Chevrolet Astra. But from what i heard today, the Renault Mégane Sedan II will probably enter this year, since the road car will be manufactured here in Brazil, and will be launched by September / October.

PS: I already heard rumours about Peugeot (307 Sedan) and Toyota (Corolla) for 2006.

Johnny, if your team was REAL big, it would be like the time I heard of a four-car AMG Mercedes team in the DTM. I think here in the States, one such team with a lot of cars has to be the Realtime team. I've seen the Acura RSX, Acura NSX, Acura TSX, and Acura Integra raced by this Speed World Challenge team.

Johnny, I got to ask you. If Brazilian Stock Car wanted to host a one-off race in the United States, where would it be held at? If you don't know about American racing venues, look up these websites to try to find some American tracks:
http://www.etracksonline.co.uk/NAmerica/usa.html
http://www.racingcircuits.net/UnitedStates/index.html

4 AMG's? DAMN! And They have the Acura NSX in the Speed World Challenge? Are you sure about that because I dont rember seeing any? That would be awesome if they did! I would have to watch it more often now!
BTW Congrats on the good news Johnny! 👍 and thanks for the EVO info! :D

What i heard this is still the prototype car in tests (that's why the back seat lateral window looks strange). Some small changes might happen.

Too bad I can't read Portuguese. :indiff: Oh well, I skimmed the thread and got the general idea. Thanks anyways.

I forgot to suggest those online translators, like babelfish.

But yes, this topic has lots of info i posted.

Beautiful cars! I really like the Lancer, here in Argentina we have the TC2000 with a lot of car manufacturers. The Lancer is in, but is the old model (Evo VI).

Good Luck!, for you and your team.

Yeah, i know the TC2000, although i can't watch the races here in Brazil, because it doesn't air in any TV channel (not even on cable and sattelite). It only shows up some images and results on Sportscenter on ESPN International. It's a great championship, with lots of manufactures. Furlán drove one of the StockCarV8's last year at interlagos. By the way, why he still uses the old Lancer? Never understood that.

Newer and bigger pics:

Well, at least Globo is going to broadcast half the races, not that bad. I´ll try to go to the Curitiba race, since it´s only two hours from here driving. 👍

Felipe, did Juan Pablo Montoya race in this or did I imagine it?

Some news

Vogel Motorsport confirmed it's main sponsor and driver lineup.

Drivers: Gualter Salles and Thiago Camilo
Main Sponsor: Texaco

PS: Texaco sponsored WB Motorsport for 10 years, and with that partnership won 3 championships (All with Chico Serra, that will drive for RC3/Bassani Racing this year). Vogel Motorsport hopes this success will continue with them.

More news:

- Boettger Competições confirmed the sponsorship of NeoQuímica. Boettger was sponsored by Repsol the last 3 seasons, but since the company started to stop sponsoring racing activies all around the world, they need to get a new sponsorship. The drivers are already confirmed: David Muffato (2003 Champion) and Alceu Feldmann

- Raul Boesel will drive for a brand new team called Embratel Motorsports. Embratel is one of the biggest Brazilian Telecomunications company.

- Not confirmed yet, but Beto Giorgi may be one of the drivers of JF Racing for this season.

- Again rumours of new companies/cars on the grid. From what i understand:

Renault (Mégane Sedan II) -> People say it's almost 100% sure they'll be on the championship next year

Fiat (Marea) -> Nobody mentioned it for a long time, but since Fiat do Brasil announced a new sedan to replace the Marea, that will probably be on the market by the end of the year, i start to heard rumours again.

Volkswagen (New Jetta/Bora or Passat) -> Confirmed this last week, that the new Jetta will be sold in Brazil with the american name, instead of the usual Bora nomination. Also confirmed the new Passat. Again rumours that they might participate.

I like Bora better than Jetta. And Embratel entering a team on the competition seems good, they´re a very strong company.

I agree with you. Plus Jetta sounds a little like "JECA", which is a slang word that means idiot, retarded

Anyway, back on the topic. New and EXCLUSIVE PICS of some cars on São Paulo Auto Sports Motor Show and São Paulo Tunning Show.

São Paulo Tunning Show

- Bennamed-Nascar Team
Drivers: Ricardo Etchenique and Valdeno Brito

- Action Power (now also sponsored by Red Bull)
Drivers: Cacá Bueno and Thiago Marques (Tarso Marques brother)

Auto Sports MotorShow 2005

- RS Competições
Driver: Nonô Figueiredo

The car is ugly. The sponsors layout in the car is terrible. I hope is just a temporary design.I only liked the black wheels.

Other curious news. The maximum numbers of the cars on the grid is now 40 (there are already 39 cars confirmed!). This means that next year will be 10 cars from each manufacturer. This year will be 10 Lancers and 30 Astras. There's a rumour that Renault might enter on the last 3 races, but i don't think this will happen. If they enter they'll do it next year.

Now JF Racing news. We'll probably have only one car at the Stock Car V8, and one at the Stock Car V8 Light (Astra Hatch, less HP engine,...). Why? Well, we didn't managed to get a big sponsor yet. Our Stock Car V8 driver for this year, Beto Giorgi brought some sponsors, that will maintain his car without problems.

Nobody will be fired, since the mechanics / personel that used to work on the car #2 will be focused on the Stock Car V8 Light.

Anyway, this week we are in Interlagos, finishing small details on the car, and getting ready to participate of the Free Practice Sessions that are programmed. All teams will be there, and it will be great to meet some friends again and hear the engine noises as well.

Thanks for the pics Johnny, too bad about your team though. I hope you guys manage to get a big sponsor at time to put one more car at the grid.

Good luck to your team! :)

Well, we have a sponsor, Sal Cisne. Check this pic with the car (still not finished as you can see) and the driver, Beto Giorgi.

giorgicisnejf2.JPG

The problem is that the ammount of money is not sufficient to put another car on the grid. Instead of having two cars with money issues, Mr. Jorge Freitas decided to put only one. The other car is built and ready to race, but will not be used yet. After some races, maybe some company decides to sponsor the other car, it will go to the grid.

Gotta go sleep now. Free practice sessions will be tomorrow and the thursday.

Wish us all good luck. 👍

That's right. Our car only at the 37th position. On the first day we had serious problems with the gearbox (Our driver only managed to do 7 laps). Yesterday, the problem was solved, but we discovered that something was wrong with the engine. It simply wasn't as powerful as the engine from the other cars (we could noticed this even by the sound). So we sent the engine back to ZF for review.

I'll try to find pics for you.

pimp racer
Hey you got a sponsor! 👍 BTW best of luck on resolving that problem and getting better than 37th!

Thanks. The problem of the gearbox is solved, and the engine was sent back to ZF.

Another 5 engines, from other teams, were sent back too, with the same problems.

At least we completed what we wanted to do on these tests:

- Test the new suspensions
- Test the new brakes
- Adjust the driver seat (for Beto Giorgi)
- Finish the car assembly (including front ligh stickers).

We hope to get some other sponsors to complete the small areas avaiable in the car.

Anyway, for pics go here:

http://www.pontaracing.com.br/fotos/044_stock/index.htm

PS: The Astra Sedan and Mitsubishi Lancer race on the Stock Car V8 championship. Tha Astra Hatch races on the Stock Car V8 Light ( 120HP less than the Stock Car V8)
