@Touring Mars I think we just don’t agree on who is to blame for this farce. That’s fine, but I’m not sure we are making any ground lol

I’m not suggesting we too impost set rules, I’m saying our government and the House needed to come together before hand, to actually work our what they wanted and what they could get through Parliament.

In regards to the EU’s inability or refusal to work with us and to essentially help us out. That was never, ever on the cards. Leaving the EU was only ever going to make us worse off because the EU is a political entity as much as it is anything else.
If we left getting what we wanted and have them basically work out NI for us, then other nations would have also pushed to leave the block for the same Nationalistic reasons and we’d be properly back in the 1900’s again.

It’s why I referred to it as a Unicorn. Brexit was only ever going to make us weaker.

Back in the 1900s indeed...

...except without a world-spanning Empire, its largest and best equipped Navy, the most professional Army in the world, a vice-like grip on the world's economy, the Suez canal, the most industrial capacity of any nation on Earth, et cetera, et cetera.

Back in the 1480s might be closer to home, because in the 1900s we didn't piss off Europe's biggest powerhouse, we were it.

All that said - on unicorns - did you know many Medieval nobles and kings were sold cups claimed to be made from Unicorn horn? In actuality they were Rhino horn or Narwhal tusk - sold under the pretense that they would protect the owner from poisoned drinks - stemming from the belief that Unicorns could cleanse water with their horns, making it safe to drink for all beasts of the Earth. I also found out that the Encyclopedia Brittanica presumed that Unicorns existed somewhere undiscovered "North of the Cape of Good Hope", well into the late 19th Century, and were simply so elusive that no modern man had had the chance to describe one.

I love it when this forum provides good Googling material - and I am short of cash to replace my nuked PlayStation... Reckon Boris can be convinced to buy a Unicorn cup?

The simple fact is that there must be a solution to the Irish border issue that pretty much does what Brexiteers have been calling for

Of course there is. The problem is to find a solution that is also acceptable for Ireland and Northern Ireland and the EU.

So Johnson has assembled one of the most right wing cabinets in history and one chock full of Brexiters.

If they don't get it done then the government will fall. Hopefully.

The new Home Secretary Priti Patel:

- Lobbies for the tobacco and alcohol industry
- Was ridiculed on Question Time for wanting to bring back the death penalty
- Voted against same sex marriage
- Held secret meetings with the Israeli politicians without the Foreign Office knowing and was forced to "resign" over it

I mean, the fact that the woman who compromised national security is now in charge of national security....

Replaces Sajid Javid;

18-year Banking veteran
Proud Thatcherite
Eurosceptic but Single Market fan
Seems to think Corbyn is the devil incarnate because anti-semite
Israel fan

But also

Legalised CBD Medicine
Investigated grooming gangs and forced marriages
Revoked citizenship from idiot kids that joined ISIS

He's chancellor now.

So... I wouldn't expect much change. They are pretty similar in terms of their views, but Sajid is either a lot less shady or has never been caught being shady - given the 18 years as a banker, I'll go with the latter.

We also now have a foreign secretary who didn’t know where France was in relation to the U.K....

What’s worse, is that given a general election with Bojo and his cabinet of ****, they’d win and they’d probably get a majority too. I ****ing hate this country. :D

i hope not. Everyone anti-Tory is going to have to try real hard not to spread their votes all over the place.

I genuinely don't know who to back anymore. Labour is eating itself, I disagree with the Lib Dems, everyone else is a jokeman or a schemer in sheep's clothing.

This country has, ahem, gone to the dogs. *rests pint*

'Member when the EU advised the UK not to waste the extension? I 'member.

It's awesome that from tomorrow the MPs are on holiday again until 3rd September.

The people and the EU can wait. It's not like the future is uncertain or anything. A couple months of holidays, a couple of days after taking office.

And to top off Boris' craziness. The most upper class of all country gentlemen Jacob Rees Mogg is now leader of the commons.

They should not be allowed to do so.

It's not like they've been an effective government for, well, a long time now. At least if they're officially not working then we are under no pretences that stuffs getting sorted.
