And here I thought it was only North America where fans burn down their own cities for winning.

I don't agree with the premise of that video... the police have not "lost control" - they never had it to begin with. The police in the UK maintain order, but they must also use their discretion as to how and when they do that, and a peaceful (mostly) gathering of people celebrating something that's taken 30 years to happen (Liverpool winning the league) is not deemed to be enough of a risk to warrant a more heavy handed approach, which could (very easily) have caused a riot.

As for the current laws pertaining to large gatherings due to the pandemic, that is another matter - but again, the police faced a no-win situation... had they tried to stop the celebrations/gatherings, they probably would have failed and that could have resulted in days or even weeks of civil unrest. In this situation, the police did the exact right thing - stand back and be on hand to deal with troublemakers as best they can.

As for the danger posed by those ignoring social distancing, however, that is entirely on the heads of those who turned up.

Yeah, I mean, I dislike football and all the BS that comes with it, but a celebratory gathering with too much alcohol, a passive police presence and some fireworks is hardly the end of society.

Ghislaine Maxwell has been arrested in New Hampshire, of all places. If she can survive murder in jail, she seems to be in an ideal position to spill the beans on Prince Andrew and many others in return for early return to her opulent lifestyle.

Why is New Hampshire surprising? Genuine question.

Anyway, I imagine Prince Andrew is having no trouble sweating now.

Maxwell is a French citizen. IMHO, extradition could have been a problem, as it could have been from many other of her global hideaways. That she made herself available just a short drive away from the prosecutor's office tells me she was more than willing to come in, and may have been an arrangement. There could be a lot of famous and important people becoming disturbed just now.

"No one knew about asymptomatic transmission"

As is all too often the case, he's either a :censored:ing liar or a :censored:ing moron. My money is on both.

Beatrice and Camilla are by far the best in that show, and the letters from Prince Philip of course...

I dunno - for me Prince Charles IS Prince Charles. :dopey:

My wife is appalled. To her, the show is an illustration of how unrelentingly cruel the Brits are ... that & her experiences with her in-laws. :ouch:

The Scottish exam results issues (where results were moderated by geographic area) rumbles on although Sturgeon is promising a fix of some kind. BBC.

I did raise an eyebrow at one student's protest sign:
