That's correct, this order to a French company has been made before Brexit with all "host" countries still inside the EU. How orders will work after Brexit remains a subject of much worry amongst friends at BAe, this is the last lot of Eurofighters that anybody's expecting to see ordered. The Luftwaffe are desperate for them because their early block editions aren't flying.

EDIT: It's actually BAe Systems who build the parts at Warton, they're an American company. Still - it's good to see some Lankyshuh jobs protected for longer than expected!

The order was actually made last week. Doesn't matter who owns what, its a vote of confidence (yet another) in UK based manufacturing going forward.

Rumour: Cummings to leave Downing Street by Christmas. BBC.

Christmas will be cancelled by the PM at the next news conference, if he reads his briefing notes properly.

So, when is Corbyn getting splashed all over the front of Murdoch's rags?

Now I’m not going to say that Daily Mail readers reacted badly to the BBC using the term Fisherperson in a news piece, but...

Wow. Think about all of those things that can't be afforded. All the money spaffed up the wall during covid.

And yet this money is never questioned or whose origins is never explained. Just say "national security", "world leader", "continued presence" and move on.

It's interesting right, because I think there's a legitimate concern that there's major military conflicts on the horizon. On the other hand, while the UK may be out of the EU I assume it's still a solid part of NATO, and so could conceivably put money into more pressing matters than the military. After all, part of the point of NATO is to be able to pool military resources in order not to have every country required to keep it's own gigantic, expensive and unwieldy military like the US does.
