I think this is the first time Murdoch has admitted that hacking was going on at The Sun as well as the NOTW.

NGN offers a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the serious intrusion by The Sun between 1996 and 2011 into his private life, including incidents of unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for The Sun.

NGN also offers a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the phone hacking, surveillance and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators instructed by them at the News of the World.

NGN further apologises to the Duke for the impact on him of the extensive coverage and serious intrusion into his private life as well as the private life of Diana, Princess of Wales, his late mother, in particular during his younger years.

We acknowledge and apologise for the distress caused to the Duke, and the damage inflicted on relationships, friendships and family, and have agreed to pay him substantial damages.

It is also acknowledged, without any admission of illegality, that NGN’s response to the 2006 arrests and subsequent actions were regrettable.

NGN also offers a full and unequivocal apology to Lord Watson for the unwarranted intrusion carried out into his private life during his time in Government by the News of the World during the period 2009- 2011.

This includes him being placed under surveillance in 2009 by journalists at the News of the World and those instructed by them. NGN also acknowledges and apologises for the adverse impact this had on Lord Watson’s family and has agreed to pay him substantial damages.

In addition, in 2011 News International received information that information was being passed covertly to Lord Watson from within News International.

We now understand that this information was false, and Lord Watson was not in receipt of any such confidential information. NGN apologises fully and unequivocally for this.

Pathetic.

I’ve always been a Labour supporter/left of centre but I feel so, so disappointed by the direction this Government are taking, it genuinely makes me feel so a bit sad.

Liz Truss's Treasury Minister: "Britain needs a better work ethic". I would ask why the BBC are still talking to these clowns but suspect a combination of ragefarming clickbait and establishment sycophancy.

I noticed this article earlier and didn’t bother clicking into it. The world is already upside down without these halfwits saying the populous is lazy.

If only we all had the work ethic of people who get 15 weeks of holiday a year, don't actually have to show up to their workplace at all, and even those that do (averaging two-thirds) get a six-hour day for less than half of the remaining work year.

Truly a shining example of work ethic.

C'mon, Philp was a pretty speedy worker. He and his mates only took 39 days to crash the economy.

[EDIT] Looks like the Lib Dems agree:

The unbridled arrogance of these deathwish-seeking shysters.

To be fair, that's just 39 actual days. Judging by the amount of time the average MP spends in their workplace, it's more like 11.

Yep, all that, and the left still couldn’t put up anyone competent or even likeable enough to beat him. He’s a felon, he’s a rapist, he’s a liar, a grifter, a cheat, and an absolute raving moron. All that, yet he’s still more appealing to the masses than a leftist. Haw haw indeed
More appealing than a leftist (or centrist rather, as left wing politicians hardly exists over there) by most Americans, yes. Most of us Europeans sees him for what he really is, though.

Nigel Farage has a pretty good chance of being the next prime minister, and many countries across Europe are experiencing a swing to the right at the moment.

Largely due to the immigration issue it looks like.

While there are an uncomfortable number of people with the IQ of a moist skidmark that are prepared to vote Reform, I think they'll be doing well just to keep all the Tory protest votes from the last election, never mind achieving 320 more seats.

Farage has seen before how fickle the single issue vote is and no significant body of economically minded Tories would vote Reform unless there's a massive injection of reality into how Reform say they would raise and spend money. Factor in the Conservatives themselves veering further into the extremities of the authoritarian right, and they'll be stealing back some of Reforms USP.

I also don't believe there's enough support for Farage in the centre or left for a complete migration of those voters to give Reform a majority.

Tories will go back to voting Tory, apathy will cause erosion to the Labour vote, and the third parties will remain locked out of any meaningful position thanks to first past the post, and a lack of representation in Lords.

That's my prediction anyway. The only way I'd want to see more Reform representation is if it came off the back of PR, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

He really doesn’t, not under the current FPTP system. Even with their current polling levels Reform would end up with about 150 seats. It would take a coalition or merger with the Tories.

Of course there won’t be an election for about 3-4 years anyway. Labour’s popularity will go back up a bit, Reform will go back down, the Tories will find another leader after Badenoch pisses everyone off and gets replaced. A lot will change.
