With over 600bhp in 1950 this was the most powerful F1 car until the advent of the turbo era ushered in by Renault in the late 1970's and was as powerful as the Toleman Hart turbo raced by Aryton Senna. A remarkable achievement for the time.
Sadly this car was too complicated - it was easily bettered by the naturally aspirated 4.5 litre V12 Ferrari. However at the time of its design recent advances with the supercharging of aircraft engines led engineers to believe that success could be achieved from a 1.5 litre supercharged engine rather than a 4.5 litre naturally aspirated. It broke down on many occasions - F1 races were twice the length they are now - and Stirling Moss described it as very difficult to drive.
A great car which would be a nice addition to Gran Turismo.
NB also vote for other early F1 cars including the Lancia D50.
