Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good idea, so long as I have someone to race I'm happy :)

By the way, I'm now into the 1:06's with my C30 :D

would prefer it how it is, i mean, having Pro and ProAm in different rooms is basically creating two different championships which have no link between each other. It could work if you had top 8 in Pro in D1, and top 8 in ProAm in D1, then rest in D2 (this is if divisions are used) but still, its only 8 cars for a tense race, and i mean, acidents happen, packs split up, meaning most of the time people will be driving on there own.

I got down to 1.07.111 :D

and hitting 1.32.2 round Laguna, with more to give :)

I think the ultimate thing we could do is have a qualifying round, where the top 16 race in race1 the other 16 in race 2, and then in race 3 we have the top 16 from rounds one and two combined, and race 4 for the slower guys, and the points system is adjusted accordingly, to suit upto say the first 20 cars that cross the line

Well, as it is now, to my understanding, the qualifying each weekend is used to place alternating cars into different races. For example, the fastest qualifier races in D1, the second fastest races in D2, the third fastest in D1 and so on. Which means we will have the biggest diffence possible between fastest and slowest qualifiers, which, all things being equal, would create more spaced out racing, with people driving on their own.

The system I'm proposing would put the 16 fastest qualifiers in the same race and the 16 slowest qualifiers in the same race. And it wouldn't be decided once at the start of the season, it'd be determined by qualifying each weekend, guaranteeing close races each week.

Therefore, if one particular car/driver is extremely quick around one track but average on the rest, he'd have the chance to will overall at that particular track, instead of just thrashing everyone in his lower division.

Or maybe, the first grid is picked at random, and the second longer race is done by the Quali performance?

Maybe give x amount of points for race 2, and race 1 say half that, but with extra points for fastest lap. That way race 2 is a test of tyres and strategy more than race 1, which is an absolute sprint

Just thinking out loud...

I think you and smalldave are trying to complicate things Rufus.....

I had to read your thread about 3times to understand it lol :P

You need to have set divisions for the overall season.

If I was placed in D2 for the first race, but D1 for the following week, that just clearly wouldnt work! The only way I can see it working is by having the series split into 2. Maybe after a race system, people could have the chance to move to D1 or down to D2 depending on performance (a bit like football I suppose)

The overall system has to be something simple that is easily understood. Nobody wants to be thinking "right, I need to set the 3rd fastest time in qualy to be in D1". Personally, my suggestion is a lot simpler.....

Just how many people are signed up anyway? And out of those, how many are teams, and how many privateers?

That's what the original proposal was, IIRC.

It would be possible to compete in race 1 one week then race 2 the next in my suggestion as D1 and D2 are created at the beginning of the season (similar to GT1/2) and they wouldn't change. The two divisions would then race together each week, with the participants of each race decided by a qualifying session for race 1.

Edit: I'm gonna make some tables up in Excel to try and explain!

I'm starting to realise just how difficult it is to get across ideas on the internet, we could've saved about 4 pages of my badly typed ideas and misunderstanding just by chatting in a lobby haha!

The grid will be worked out like this.

Week 1. We will have a qualifying night where you come along and seta time, or nights. You're time will be added to a spreadsheet for us to look at once all the drivers have posted a time.

Week 2. Pre race 1. The drivers will be split into 2 groups. Numbers 1,3,5,7,9 etc will all race in Lobby 1 meanwhile drivers 2,4,6,8,10 etc will all race in lobby 2.

Week 2. Race 1. The drivers will continue to race in these groups but the positions are not for qualifying. these positions are to show your championship position and what lobby you will be in.

Week 3. Race 2. Bcause the majority of drivers have changed position in the Championship Table they will more than likely be racing against a different grid of drivers, some the same and some new.

You wll always be in lobby that goes by your Championship position. the top of the tale will not battle against the top only.. everyone will race everyone over the season.

I think mine and Jimmiy's ways are pretty much the same. Anyway, I created an example championship to show everyone how I'd go about doing this, making sure everyone can race against everyone else and there is something for everyone to race for in every race.

Obviously in our championship there will be two groups of 16, not 8, and there will be more than 4 rounds.

Edit: Just to explain the spreadsheet. Pre-season qualifying will put the fastest half of the group into Divison A, the slowest half into Division B. Then, at the first round, qualifying will put all the drivers into two races, the fastest going into Race X, the slowest into Race Y. After the races, the postions of the Division A drivers relative to other Division A drivers determine their points, not overall postion. The same goes for Division B. (Obviously at the point we can have reverse grids etc, but I kept it simple for this)

I must be being stupid tonight lol :P

I see where your coming from, it just looks a little too messy for me.... :P

How about the first season is just everybody racing for overall points, and the top 16 go through to Class 1 and the rest to Class 2? It would make things more realistic in terms of progression for people too, as then for the next season, everybody will have goals to work towards, in terms of progressing up through the ranks.... At the same time, work could be done to open up other forms of racing, from Le Mans, DTM, to GT racing, and maybe give people the opportunity to progress onto a new style of racing series? Effectively making a small team of guys on here the Gorverning body of a Package :) I think it would be fricken brilliant! Make the most of everything, and dominate the GT Planet Racing Series, with something for everybody :D

The possibilities are endless :D One thing I was thinking about was an 80's touring car championship. Basically the same format and regs as this one, only using cars between 1980 and 1991 (in order to include the Lotus Carlton and Merc 190e Evo). I think you'd have to include 4WD cars like the quattro and T16 Pug to make things a little more varied and interesting. Anyway, this is probably for another thread.

Here are some promo photos for the recently founded Racing Garage Performance :sly: :D Haha.

Great shots there mate :) I must get some sorted too, when I'm not busy playing with all my other cars :P

What settings are you using for your suspension!?!? Christ, it must be solid as a rock!

Cheers :)
I'm running spring rates of about 8 front and rear, dampers of about 6 ext and 5 comp front and back and ARBs of 4 front, 5 back, I think. It's not the softest thing in the world, but those curbs on the final chicane are huge!

In fact, you can see how much droop and compression I've got by comparing the rear wheel in the last two photos.

I was looking at them shots alright :D

To be honest, the rates don't seem to make much difference for me on the 135i....

I went from F 12.5 - R 10.0 down to 5 on both, and dropped the ext, and comp, and i was still as fast haha :P

Mate, tell me about it. The original setup I'd worked towards wasn't any good so I decided to put everything back to stock and start again. I did a lap 0.1 seconds faster with practically stock suspension settings than with the settings I'd spent hours trying to perfect! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!

This thread is always at / nearly at the top of the page. xD

Been very busy with college project sorry guys.

yeah, we will have been living together for 3years on the 21st of May!! WHere the hell as time gone!?!?

She is currently watching the Royal Wedding, she got up at 6 for it! Sad or what!?!? I slept in till half 10, and then came straight on the net :P Although I am British, I have no interest in watching a nobody marry into Royaly, and I don't like Will either.... Harry is a legend though :)

Seriously mate, never live with a woman, she will tear your world up, and you will never be the same again!

Lmao xD xD

So Jimmy ... How we doing the new threads for races... What we coping over ?

It does make sense, the post count here is huge lol

Surely a seperate thread should be used for the results and any pics from the races, and this be the main discussion board? I dunno, I'm just trying to help trow ideas about :D

Some promo shots of my BTCC Volvo C30 :sly: There are many, but there worth a look - you'll know who your lapping when the time comes...

One of the redeeming features of the C30 is the aero you can put on...

This isn't a distinct possibility...

Rosso Monza I think - borrowed from my Ferrari 599 GTB, with some shiny ProDrive wheels.

After doing some pit practice, the crew realise the C30 is lacking pace as a result of having the pit lollipop wedged in the engine bay :banghead: After removal, power is improved, and drag reduced.
