Me too dude. I managed a 1.06.907 today, that's with 355bhp, 1240kg and 497pp. Hopefully its the weight of our big German barges that's slowing us through the fast twisty bits of GVE.

Lol, i honestly don't know mate :P I have bang on 350bhp, and 500pp

If I can just find the sweet spot for the steering, then I reckon a 1.06.XXX will be achievable.... I am using a DS3 too.... maybe that doesnt help.....

I will have to go see how I fair at Laguna next, and maybe a lap of the Ring to see how it performs :)

I would love to use the 330, but it aint showing up in my UCD, and I had the chance to buy one last week from it! Arrghhh!!

Before I disappear for the night, I was randomly buying cars earlier to fuel my need to own every car in the game, and it dawned on me, that there has been no word about why the Alfa 147 isn't being included.... Surely this would make for a pretty decent car once setup?

Na dude, it's way to slow, think fully tuned it only puts out 320bhp

just thinking out loud here...
seems to me like there's a pretty big spread of times here, ranging from people who are consistently knocking out 1:04's, to people who struggle to get under 1:10's. Now I know that some of this is down to the Integra being so quick, and that's being dealt with, and I also know success ballast should help even some of this out once the racing get's under way. However, I'm just wonderring whether rather than having 1 championship with 32 people, it might be better to have 2 divisions based on some sort of qualifying. That way the people who maybe aren't as fast can still have a chance of fighting for a win in their division. You could also have some sort of promotion system either as the season progresses and people maybe drop out for whatever reason, or at the end of the season to reward improving drivers.
Just thought I'd throw that out there, what do you guys think?
Cheers
Nick

Very good idea and that has been knocking around my noodle for quite some time, my argument to that is, once we kill the integra's massive advantage, (and other cars slight advantage) it may even out.

If it does seem 16ish people are just simply "off the pace" sure we can run 2 divisions with promotion and relegation :)

I guess the thing to do'll be sort out any restrictions that need to be applied for specific cars, and then see what happens at the Laguna test session. The other risk you could have by deciding devisions based on one qualifying session is that people obviously have stronger and weaker tracks, so that could skew things slightly.

Yeah good point, can't really count your chickens just off the back of one tracks results that wasn't using the correct physics anyway.

We will set room regs to that certain cars regs, get them to join, proving they are below there certain power and weight limit, going from smallest to biggest do this with all cars, to get the restrictions right.

Also I am relying on decent people here, please REMOVE MODS and don't use POWER LIMITER, unless its only changing something due to not having any other option.

The integra will run a lower pp, maybe 485pp, still under the 355bhp power limit and over the 1000kgs weight limit ! :)

Similar story with civic type R '08, 490pp looks like a nice number.

Integra type R RM @ 480pp was doing 1.07's / 1.06 online

So I think 485pp for normal integra will do.

Any car that looks like its "just better" than others will probably get capped. Got to take driver skill into consideration though.

GTWelsh, you put there that the Integra runs with 355bhp..... I though we werte only aloud 350bhp? The 1% I have removed on the power limiter could bump that back to the 355bhp if that is what we are running....... Make your mind up!!! :P

I love the idea of a FIA GT style setup with GT1 and GT2 etc, I suppose the most appropriate names for the classes could be Pro, and Pro Am, and even possible Pro Am2 depending on the amount of people? Incorporating the Porsche Carrera Cup into things :)

Whilst on PCC - am I the only one that finds Tim Harvey irritating??

Guys, why don't we do this the opposite way around. Let the slower cars run higher PP. That would make the racing nice and even. Instead of slowing down the whole field, lets bring all up to the same pace.

Due to power restriction in GT5 you can only get particular numbers for power restrictions and 355BHP is the closest you can get.

As for the way to sort out which PP a car should run.. I sorted a way with welsh so that cars MUST have 355 bhp 1000kg & 500 PP.. we will both more than likely have all vailable cars modified s we know what theyshould have performance wise when ballast is added :)

Wait a minute.... let me get this straight....

I have been sticking to the 350bhp limit like poop to a blanket, and now you tell us we are running 355bhp!?!? This changes everything! I can probably save another second on my fastest time with this new info!! :D

I think the faster cars should start first, as it will get the faster guys off, and there isn't much chance that they will lap us anyway, not with only a couple of seconds a lap differenciating the class one guys to class 2/3

5bhp won't do much....

355bhp and 1000kgs and 500pp is quite fast, so making that even higher for slower cars is silly, reducing the faster cars slightly would be the best way surely.

Only a few cars need looking at, when PSN is back up.

Remember that if you have 355bhp and 1000kgs you will probably go over the 500pp limit, which is not allowed. So reduce the settings accordingly.

Like I said, cars will probably have reduced pp to even things out.

The Laguna Seca pre-season round will be the test to see if our system is working, and will highlight problems that need fixing.

Probably good to change the OP - it still says 350bhp

My bad...

I think I am finally in a position to say I want in on this (although it was probably already fairly obvious hehe)

My details:

Team name: DB Motorsport (privateer)
Driver (PSN): cally-dave
Car: BMW 135i Coupe

The only thing that will be a problem for me is lag from my end, as my wireless modem (I have no other choice at the mo) will be a tad slow I think..... we can only see how things go though I suppose :)

Not sure if you've looked at these (or if your a young kid or adult) but if you can afford these they are definitely worth looking into.

At my old place I had issues with being wireless so I bought a pair and they work fantastic! No Lag, EVER!

I have these:

www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/netgear-powerline-av-500-adapter-kit-white-07338843-pdt.html

but there are cheaper versions

www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/netgear-xetb1001-powerline-network-adaptor-pack-of-2-01146500-pdt.html

Basically, you plug one in next to your router and connect it via a ethernet net cable then you plug the other plug in next to your PS3 and again connect via ethernet, it then gives you a wired connection regardless of where your router/PS3 are 👍

I'm 23 mate :) Kid at heart though ;)

Im also unemployed, and renting my own place, so can't afford to go splashing the cash at the mo haha, also my internet is coming in the form of mobile broadband with 3 Ireland, using one of there "mifi" modems, is a portable wifi unit.... If I can get the newer version, I know it would be much better, as I had a loan of one for about a month not too long ago, and it was brilliant, this one which is older however, is rubbish lol

Im with welsh on this guys.. Your not going to feel the wrath of 5bhp more lol.. no way will it even give you 1sec faster a lap.. you need atleast another 30,40 bhp before that happens!

And Again for all you users of the Integra. It will have a handicap on performance.. We dont know where it will come from but it will happen so if you are setting blistering laps on a race pace then try removing a couple of bits and bobs :)

Well I have added my 5bhp, and I have shaved off another 200th of a second off my fastest time, bringing my current fastest lap in at 1.07.264 :D I know there is another 200th there somewhere, and I'm sure I can find it, but like others have said, I know it won't make a blind bit of difference come race day....

For the Integra's, would a weight handicap not be better? Make em apply some ballast in an attempt to give the rest of us a chance

The Integra Teams may already be running ballast. so making them use more.. then come a race win they need to apply another 45kg seems a bit unfair. the best way is i reckon, a power cut..

I like this idea actually. I think if we have a qualifying session that splits us into two groups. It'd be nice to have a qualifying session each week so that we would have a greater chance of all racing each other, but I guess that would be difficult to score points wise. So if we had a single qualifying session at the start of the season to put us into Pro and Pro Am groups, which we stay in all season long, then have normal qualifying each week to work out who races who. So the person who finishes highest of all the Pro racers gets maximum points for their championship and the person who finishes highest of all the Pro Am racers gets maximum points for their championship.

I realise I've probably explained that in the worst way possible, but the idea came to me when Dave mentioned GT1 and GT2 classes running together in the same race.

And yes, there is something about Tim Harvey that irritates me, but I can't quite put my finger on it haha!

Edit: Re-reading all that garbage just makes me think it'd be better to have one championship with qualifying at each race. Then whoever comes 1st in the lower race actually comes 17th overall and so on. It would mean that those who qualify out of the top 16 wouldn't be racing for anything but pride, but it would make it much easier to organise etc.

I get where your coming from mate, what you mean is:

irrelevant of where a GT1 / GT2 driver finsihes, they will only score points respective to the class that they are racing in.

ie. If 2 GT2 drivers finish before a GT1 driver, the 1st GT2 driver gets full GT2 points, but may finish 8th overall, but still has maximum points for the respective class, and the GT1 driver may finish 10th overall, but 5th in class

Surely we will have to have 2 classes anyway - 32 people won't fit into a 16 person lobby, besides it's probably better to have less in the lobby to help counter lag

I couldn't agree more mate :)

I suppose what we need is a couple of qualifying rounds to see what people can do, and split it, into something like Teams Class 1 (TC1), Teams Class 2 (TC2), Privateer Class 1 (PC1), and Privateer Class 2 (PC2) ??

Also, whats the story about prozes? Are there any, or is it just for fun?

Yeah, but we can either have 1 or 2 championships as well as classes. 1 championship will be easiest to organise but will mean that the race for 17th-32nd places will be redundant as points don't go that far down the order. Or we could have 2 seperate championships running in parallel, but that would mean that half the guys wouldn't race the other half.

The system me and cally-dave are suggesting would give everyone the chance to race everyone else based on their qualifying that weekend.

That would be a view seeing 32 cars racing. No doubt a pile up would happen on first corner ;)

I just want to PSN back online man. :/
