I'm going to 3rd what was just said.

Fantastic looking car, and I think the traditional logo and wreath would make it just perfectly classy.

This is stunning. Well, maybe it could do with a slightly smaller front grille, but that sort of thing is the fashion these days.

But has really bold, strong proportions, clean surfaces, neat details.

For me, at the moment, Caddy designs some of the best-looking vehicles on the road. The 2014 CTS looks great, the ELR basically looks like a concept car, and the ATS is a really sharp thing too.

The only thing that comes to mind immediately is the Jag XJ:

Long way short of identical obviously, but has a similarly unadorned boot lid, slim upright lights that wrap over onto the top and strong rear haunches.

Though there's probably a few other modern-ish Cadillacs with similar details too.
You're right on that. I personally thinik that the Caddy is a sexy looking thing and that if its never put into production, Jaguar now kind of knows what the outcome of a possible XJ coupe would look like.

Cadillac go an make some of the most gorgeous concept cars which are so well proportioned and ooze the brands identity.... but then they never go and bloomin make them :ouch:

They are mad not to make this and the Ciel, mad mad mad :scared: Literally better looking than RR's offerings and they look stunning IMO.

On a side note I' really not a fan of the XJ's rear, looks like the back of a bus!

No. NO.

Who the hell put a Chevy emblem on the front of this car? That logo is awful. It ruins the entire car. The Ciel looked so much more regal because of that emblem (and the wow factor front facia).

I like Cadillac's design direction of the past few years, and this is no exception.

But the logo looks like the badge of some cheesy after-hours security firm which patrols office parks, or an antivirus software icon that only appears in movies. Bring back the wreath/laurels, and the little flightless waterfowl, while we're at it.

My thoughts exactly. The car itself looks awesome, the perfect combination of brash and elegant.

The logo really just looks corny though sadly. Hope that doesn't stick around.
Agreed.

I agree with what people are saying about the logo. Too cheesy, too big, nto enough class.

The newest logo one stretches the shield way out of proportion, and makes the car appear more bloated. Sure, the Escalade had a huge crest the size of its headlights, but most SUVs used some 2XL-sized logo (off the top of my head, I think BMW was the only one to keep their propeller at a similar dimensions along their lineup).

Hey, I'm an unabashed traditionalist; it's one thing to change your branding when things aren't going well...but Cadillac seems to be financially well-off and sales are good. On the other hand, concept cars are meant to test public reaction.

Edit: phone spelling

The wreath hasn't even been around long enough to really complain about it's absence.

DS, the wreath was part of Cadillac's very first logo. It's been around for 109 years. For the vast majority of Cadillac logo history there has been a suggestion of a wreath, crown, or other regal symbol. Now it's been simplified in their art & science vocabulary to the point where it has no regality at all. It's simply a shield that doesn't even have intricacies within itself. It just doesn't look or feel like American luxury at all. It's terrible. This is Acura, or Infiniti, or Lexus. Bland, boring, new-age technology. Cadillac is supposed to be a blend of technology and luxury. Take Lexus and mix it with Rolls Royce and you should end up with Cadillac.

It's so bad I just sent Cadillac an email about it.

I'd like to reiterate that if they put this car on the road basically as it is, maybe some different wheels, and even with the lame ass emblem, it would be a complete stunner at every turn.

Surely the car matters far more than the logo itself?

A Rolls-Royce could have a polished "Spirit of Turd" statuette on the grille for all it really matters, because they get the car bit right. To me, Cadillac is getting the styling absolutely spot on and doing pretty well with the quality too - those are the things that actually matter.

Put it this way, the El Miraj is far more "regal" and "luxury" with a wider, modernized badge on the grille than any of the company's 80s-90s output was with the wreath wrapped around it.

All of that, and it continues to feed the beast in terms of getting us GM guys excited about a true halo car outside of the Corvette and Camaro. I'm pretty sure that we're running up on a decade of large, rear-drive, BMW/Mercedes competitor coming out of Cadillac.

Can someone explain why the 2015 Escalade was due to be fitted with the old badge (the last car to do so) and was shown like that in all the press photos yet if you try to configure one now it has the new badge on it?

The Escalade looked great with the old badge on it, it suited it sheer size. I hate the new badge, has totally taken away the brands identity.

Were any sold with the old badge? I read the round one was actually required because of the radar cruise control...

Yes the 2015 started production before the new badge went onto the cars.

Thank goodness for that, at least there are some out there! Wreath = Cadillac... no wreath, could be a Ssangyong for all you know!

I wonder if people can still ask for the old grille, badge work and wheels if you ordered in a dealer, after all they went to all the trouble of tooling those parts for probably only a few hundred cars.

One thing I do know about the new badge is that Cadillac is having trouble placing it correctly. That badge is too high in the grille opening (again) but the design of the crossbars means it would look bad if it were in the correct spot. The entire grille needs redone and needs to be designed about proper badge placement. That should be the first focus. It's like these asshole forgot all about the rule of thirds when designing it.

Btw I take back everything bad I said about the new logo I just wish they would put it in the right ****ing spot in the grille.

Its been moving higher and higher with each new model, it's looks odd on new CTS. In a few years it good it be a hood ornament.

Yeah the new badge is too high, it should be in-between the two bars. Basically it just looks odd anywhere and they should have done a whole new grille which suits it better.

This is pure symmetrical bliss...

This grille below is much better, apparently coming to the V-Sport. But obviously it's not the luxury look.

On a black grill like that, I think it looks nice. It feels more sporty than the one with the wreath. The wreath one looks more sophisticated and mature.
