All I've been hearing about all day is the Citroen Space Invader and what everyone thinks about it. Well how about we talk proper cars?

This thread is the place to discuss the latest prancing pony to leave the Ferrari stable, namely the California.

Is it just me or is this one of the tastiest cars ever to feature in the GT series?

I had one out in the - between GTP events - "badlands" of Suzuka 750 earlier and, despite maxing out at 729pp, it's still very much in the race, I clocked up a 1st place and a couple of thirds and all I had to do setup wise was max the power, min the weight and slap some sticky tyres on.

Then I tried the Ferrari only event and it was pretty much eating up anything else on the track.

I love this machine!!!

If only it weren't as ugly. I think it's the worst looking Ferrari for a long long time.

I only took it for a spin on Eiger, and it handled pretty well.

try the california out on suzuka with arcade mode time trail...
the car come so much alive on s2 tyres with the new phisics, its unbelievable!!...i really had to slap myself in the face to wake up and realise i whas racing a game....wow!!...

spyrrari.

I did not drove the car yet, but I think it looks much more sexi then the 599. Yes I dare to say it.

Key word here is racing :sly:
👍

I had 311,000 credits at the update. I spent 300K of that on a dark grey Califonia. What a sweet ride. I haven't run it on a road course yet. But, what little time I had with it I really liked.

handling-wise it´s a fun car to drive. the looks....not so good; i don´t want to say ugly as hell but i´m with the interceptor here. i think they want to please the american market (hence the name).

I think I must be one of the only people who loves this car for everything. The beautiful handling, the beautiful looks, and the beautiful sound. It's simply stunning.

It really is a great car, and I really like how the styling echoes back to the original California, although thoroughly modernised. Although I prefer the 1960's original, this car certainly cuts the mustard.

Have to agree, the handling is superb. I whipped it around Eiger this morning whilst testing all the new cars, the Ferrari was my second favourite with the Lotus being my favourite of the 3. Great handling from the Ferrari, but ugly, ugly looks.

Absolutely love this car. I love the looks (yes I do!) and the handling. I've been running it in the 700PP Suzuka all morning and turning laps that equal the best I've done in any car in that event.

You can keep the other 2. (The Lotus could be great, but, well, you know...)

I didn't even realize they'd added cars in the update! I downloaded it this morning before work. I haven't bought a car in forever so I've got like 1.5mil in my game. I'll have to pick up the Cali tonight.

It's just you :sly:

No, you're right though, it's a great car, I just don't "love" it as much as some of the others available. Mine is in the light blue, just doesn't seem right in red.

Definitely seems very competitive in the Ferrari event though, although I haven't personally used it, I've been using the F430 and still winning :D Just...

Bought it primarily to drift and it does that pretty well. Very easy to control during drifts.

👍, this thing was born to go sideways. Head out to Suzuka East and start up a race with this car, it can pretty much drift the entire curves with ease. I'll be switching from the usual M3 to this now, great car.

quite a fast car this california, did 2.01.xxx on suzuka online free run, nice handling and great F1 gearbox.

The convertible view is even more amazing. Im shocked by the lighting in GT5, it really does feel like you are in the car.

handles like a dream, a bit more balanced than the f430 imo.

I wholeheartedly agree. What strikes me about the California is just how controllable it is. It's one of the most nimble cars I've ever driven, almost Lotus-like. And it's so easy to get in a drift. I adore this car.:)

It's a little beast! Great looking, great sounding, great handling car. It truly is an everyday supercar that you could even take to your supermarket.

The California is much better than I expected, is it just me or does it shift even faster than the F430?

Being RWD it feels like a mix of the 599 and F430, removing all the over blown characteristics of the 599 and giving much of the goodness of the F430 to make it a wonderful car to drive or drift.

its the first ferrari with a dubble clutch....we will see this new clutch system move to all other ferraris soon...its superfast!!!:)👍

The california does slightly resemble the Dino and for that its kinda interesting but I still think its really ugly with its bug eyes and mess of a side door panel with stupidly placed handle. The only bit I like is the TVR Tamora style rear.

The interior is your standard "Ferrari" look so nothing really to complain about. I really do think people who are going to buy this wont care about the looks, they just want to say that they own a Ferrari!
