To help keep Z/28 rare, GM will make 35 parts for Z/28 only available for owners of the Z/28.
This helps make the supercar slayer incredibly collectible, and additionally, a target to replicate. So in an effort to prevent counter-fitting, our dealer sources have tipped us that GM is restricting exactly 35 parts to help protect the authentic buyer’s $75,000-plus investment. In other words, if you don’t own a new Camaro Z/28, you can’t order said parts. They are the following, with the part number included:

  1. 22958646 ROTOR-FRT BRK

This is the stupidest thing I heard, yet awesome cause it will prevent owners of V6/SS Camaro try to make it look like a Z/28.

Not really stupid since it will allow Z28s to increase in value if the parts can only be sold to the owners to be placed on those cars. BMW does it with the CSL only allowing verified owners to order the parts. Incredibly hard to get around it without being an owner or knowing an owner.

So its like the Ford Mystic paint in the '90s. At the time there was serious controls on the paint when a car went in for repair.

Still means the value will increase on the real thing though. Because matching.

Kind of taking a page out of Ford's book by basically offering the big-boy parts for everyone on the lower end of the buyer scale. Buying the crate motor isn't new, though. Been a trait of Chevy for years to offer up those engines, though I imagine the LS7 will run a pretty penny more than your average LS2/LS3 crate motor.

LS7 has been available for quite a few years now. IIRC, it's around $15,000

Edit, here it is. 16k. Not too bad for 500hp and a dry sump ready to go:
