I was messing around with Gameshark codes and eventually I ended up here...

WTF IS THIS?!

Why I am in the nothingless? If I entered a wrong code the game would freeze, but it just put me in a "nothing" track, with a straight line as the track's map. HEY, A STRAIGHT LINE??? Maybe it's...

Gameshark code for this track:

US v1.0:
801D52FC FCB0
801D52FE 01B5

US v1.1:
801D5624 FCB0
801D5626 01B5

US v1.2 (mine):
801D589C FCB0
801D589E 01B5

PAL:
801D58CC FCB0
801D58CE 01B5

That's the Laguna Seca trick. You can break out of the track with a few GS Codes. I've never used them, so I don't really know. Some say it's the lost drag strip that would have been in GT2's drag racing, but that was dropped.

It's not outside the boundaries because I was already on the "nothing" when I started the test run. The track is only a straight, so it might well be the drag strip, but I'm not sure. It has walls, though, and can difference what's "tarmac" and what's "grass".

Really weird, huh?

So you were on the nothing/out of track when you started the run. I don't know, but the track map be be of the license test slalom course. Look at the track map on this YouTube video and you'll see what I mean.

May well be that map, but the track is just a transparent piece of straight (I.E. No invisible tyre barriers). The track isn't the drag strip, though, It's internal name is "L_20", so it is a canned license test. What it could be?

Another acceleration and braking test perhaps? maybe another slalom test?

I'm betting on the first one, as there are 3 slalom courses that are never seen in the game (internal names "test_20", "test_30", "test_40", where the number is the interval in meters between each barrier).

Gameshark codes for the hidden slalom courses:

v1.0
801D52FC x2CE
801D52FE 3581

v1.1
801D5624 x2CE
801D5626 3581

v1.2
801D589C x2CE
801D589E 3581

PAL
801D58CC x2CE
801D58CE 3581

Replace the X with 0 for Slow-Speed Slalom (20 meter interval), 1 for Medium-Speed Slalom (30 meter interval) or 2 for Fast-Speed Slalom (40 meter interval)

Hi, nothing like this surprises me about GT1 lol, you could even use codes to swap engine part between different makes, like sticking some almighty great engine from a super car into some little thing, creating a little beast lol, some would just spin the wheels forever their was so much power, some combo's worked, some did not, all crazy stuff lol
thats why the top speed records where always messed-up, folks moding cars

(well I was thinking you where on Gt1, perhaps not ? )
I always thought those codes where a waste of time anyway, like your finding lol

Looks like a ghost track of the 1000 yard sprint.
On the ye olde GT there was a short sprint and a max speed circuit, If I remember correctly.

Take a look at the pic again (see first post). That scenery doesn't look familiar to me. I say it's definitely not from Laguna Seca. From which track it is then?

Scenery like that could only point to Trial mountain couldn't It?
I'm only going by what little I remember I haven't been on It since GT3 came out so It's vague to say the least.

Forget what I just said It looks like something off Rage racer.

And for the person who said you need a GS to break out of Laguna...
You're wrong. I do it all the time. Without a GS.

This could possibly be Palm Strip, the lost Drag Strip everyone has been searching all these years. However, after seeing the slalom test I'm inclined to believe this is a canned test as stated by Andy GT.

I'm positive that scenery is from Motorsports Land BTW (also the only other track you can break out of without GS - and easier too).

I'm thinking along the lines of Legend-1.
I did the same thing a few years back, and it was the exact same thing.
I'm inclined to believe it's the Palm Strip, but it's unlikely.
It looks like a combination on the Laguna Seca and Motorland out-of-track glitches.
I really have no idea where it could be, though.

If my memory is correct, Laguna's background is more brown. So I'm pretty sure it's Motorland rather than Laguna (or a combination, or whatever). It's been a while since I played GT2 though, so I might be completely wrong.

BTW, to answer your sig: both, on the edge of friction ;)
