I tried registering for the GT Academy online for the first time today, and on the GT website, after I entered my PSN ID, it told me I could not enter because my account was not U.S. based. (I live in Canada).

It's really too bad, I would have liked to enter and competed in some of the events, just for comparing myself against other players, not really for the prizes.

If any other Canadians feel disappointed, feel free to voice your concern or comments, or if anyone knows another way of entering the events.

That's because we'll spank everyone like we did last time. So PD spared American feelings by excluding Canadians from the US GT Academy.

Oh well, we'll always have hockey.

I know it's not much, but I think you still can compare yourself by getting the same combo (car+track+tires+setup) and see the times you'll get. The sad point is, if you don't do well, you'll still be sad maybe... and if you do well, you will be even more sad.

But tbh, I'm not 100% sure how accurate this method really is..

Yeah, this way I can pretend that I would be able to keep up without ever having to prove it ;)
Well, the point would be to prove it to yourself.. not to others. You would know if you have done it properly.

So if the point is just to test what the pace is for yourself, this might work just fine.

Haha! What I meant was that I could pretend in my head that I could keep up with these aliens, without ever finding out the horrible truth that I am too slow ;). Coming from a Forza background, the only people I know are those that are part of TRC, and I know that Hunk and company are way past my skill set.

lol, well I guess everyone is free to do and think whatever they want. At least if not living in North K....

So if you want to pretend that.. just like you are suggesting, why to see the bother of driving any laps? That doesn't make any sense to me.

Darn internet. I guess you missed my sarcasm lol. I don't intend on running any laps lol. Because if I did, it would just prove to myself that I am slower than I think I am :)

Ah, well I wasn't speaking of anybody in specific... just in generally :) I guess you missed my point of trying to help him..

..still, the thing I didn't get, why would you need to pretend more than what you're seeing on the time board? ..it is what it is..

As long as the physics etc. are the same, this should be a good way to see / test one's pace against the US academy runners. You know, there is no other way. Some would like there to be one.

In all honesty, I'm starting to get tired from the rest of North America complaining about not being able to enter.

Here's an idea. Why not hack your internet connection and make a new account registered in the states so you can compete? The only bad part is that you won't be able to get any of the prizes.

I think using a proxy server can trick PSN into thinking that you're in the U.S. region. It might work, it might not. Just thought I'd give some technical insight to the out-of-region crybabies.

I feel your pain brotha. I am hoping that they add a Canadian version for this. I understand it's because of contest rules and laws between both countries. That's why so many contests are run separately between the two countries, lets say when Coke or Pepsi run a contest etc. etc.

However it is a slap in the face to have such a major feature only be available to certain people just because of the country they reside in.

I paid the same price as the rest of you all, (wthin a few $$) I am sure, but you get the point, and it's like I am getting only 90% of the game while the rest get the full 100% for the same price. And what's worse is that the feature is there, staring you in the face. We can view the leaderboards, but can't play.

So ya, it does suck, but I am sure they are working on it right? Did I not hear that they will do something for Canadian and Mexicans etc? Or was this just a rumor?

Not necessarily true, I am Canadian, I am also Scottish, however, I am also a legal resident of the USA so I have just decided to enter and see what happens. You guys can cheer me on if your not overly jealous and I promise I will do everything I can to kick some American butts. If I get beat then I guess I will be taking one for the team.

Wish me luck.

Dang, some Canadian I am. I can't even skate :sly:

Hey man, good luck. Represent!

Can't you just create an american PSN ID and compete that way? Obviously you wouldn't be able to claim the prizes but most people will never earn any prizes competing against the aliens anyways.

Well due to the lack of responses to my question I took the initiative to sign up. PSN thinks I live in Beverly Hills CA 90210 (only zip code I know lol) and I successfully registered for GT academy. See ya on the leader boards boys! (look at the very bottom)

In all honesty would you complain if it was the south missing out? I'm Ausie and we always miss out on these promotion events, whinge whinge. I just think they should be able to do these things globally and include all, I just feel disappointed when my USA friends tell me how well they are doing.

That would not be right because you would be taking spots of people who are actually eligible if you are quick, and bumping people back that may earn prizes.

Fair enough GT motion. I see your point, although I would imagine that if you won a prize and were found inelligible they would give it to the next guy in line. Either way, I made the account and plan on trying it out tonight but don't worry Im really not fast (don't even have a wheel and its my first GT or racing sim) so I won't be bumping anybody.
