With Drive Club likely being delayed until 2014, I have a choice to make.

Be part of an exciting PS4 launch, but be stuck with games I have little interest in for 3-4 months until the first good wave comes (Infamous Second Son, Drive Club)

or take the $100 I have down on the PS4 and put it towards a DFGT and GT6. The GT Academy GT6 demo wasnt so great and impressive to me, but Gran Turismo is a game which appeals to the car guy that I am. I could spend gobs of time in B-spec alone, or racing some rare favorite of mine against the world online, or simply collecting cars and personalizing them with whatever simple system they give us.

This is a very difficult decision for me...I got a PS2 and PS3 on Day 1, so missing a launch could be a difficult thing for me. This time money is tighter and there wasnt a huge title from a previous gen like GT6 coming out around the previous two console launches.

My brain says GT6 is the better deal but my heart says PS4. Any suggestions?

I may just wait to get my PS4 when we do our taxes. I'm not into shooters, there isn't a whole lot of reason for me to get a PS4. I'm waiting for official announcements regarding delays before I cancels preorder. Then I'll work on convincing my cousin to cancel his and buy a PS3 instead. Several of the games he is looking forward to are on both consoles.

I'm only interested in driving games these days, and if Drive Club is indeed delayed I see no reason to get a PS4 until it is. On the plus side FM5 will keep me busy, and GT6 will also to a lesser extent.

To be honest I haven't even given PS4 a thought. There aren't any titles that I'm interested in. My wife mentioned getting me one for Xmas. Now that I'm thinking about it I think I'd like to try the new xbox just so I can have both play the new GT and try my hand at Forza for once. Maybe I'll just be realistic seeing as time hasn't been friendly for me as far as gaming lately, and just be satisfied with GT6 and keep the cash in the bank. -[Choices]-

Well, you are on a GT fan forum so I can tell you which way the suggestions will go.

I've considered canceling my PS4 preorder since the first few months of it being out will be back and forth between that and GT6 and frankly I would choose GT6 over PS4 for the short term. I'm going to get both at release however.

I would recommend waiting for the delay to become official or some sort of statement before canceling if Drive Club factors heavily into your decision. And do what you feel comfortable with, not what random internet people suggest.

My first instinct, is get the 100$ back from your PS4 pre-order, buy the DFGT and run like h*** for the GT6 fix, but the Brother from Wisconsin makes a very good point also IMO. Follow your heart Earth. You'll make the best choice for your gaming needs. Just don't lose sleep over it. 👍

EDIT: And of course I did exactly what eran004 eluded to above my post... :dopey: I need sleep...

I will probably get PS4 late 2014 or early 2015. There are lots of good games on PS4 too. But since GT6 is going to be my most played game and many more PS3 games I have. There is no point in getting PS4. Had PS4 been backward compatible then that would probably change my mind.

This guy has some good advice...errrr...

Biggest reason is that GT6 is a car game for car guys. Its predecessor was massively flawed, and GT6 looks to improve upon it marginally in key areas, but at its core Gran Turismo is still sugar for a gear head.

As long as Gran Turismo continues to offer a large variety of cars to race on a large variety of tracks I'll never be able to escape it's gravitational pull.

I just dropped $200 on a new PS3 to replace my old one which died, so no PS4 any time soon for this guy.

Well each to their own, here's my version of it.

*rechecks PS4 launch titles to be sure* Yep nothing on there worth getting a console for, even if some of them look alright, nothing even grabs 'me' as a "wow that'll be amazing title", not even Drive Club.

Therefore for me, the PS4 re-order is just a waste of money, I can't imagine there's much it can do that the PS3 can't, virtually no titles, especially no amazing titles. I would, and in fact am, going to wait until the PS4 is significantly cheaper than it is today, there's atleast 3 or 4 titles that I "must have" (or GT7, whichever comes first), then I'll buy it, before then, nothing at launch means the launch premium is literally, wasted, imo.

EDIT: and also this, 100%

Had PS4 been backward compatible then that would probably change my mind.

I thought of canceling my PS4 preorder when Watchdogs was delayed.
But I didn't will see what I'll get with the PS4

Drive club never had my interest, it looks stunning, but the gameplay I've seen so far is to much like NFS.

So to answer your question, No I won't cancel my preorder :D

I was all for GT6 on the PS4 (before the announcement on May 15), but then I thought about the great majority; some people can't afford a PS3 and PS4/X1 all at once. So then, I changed my mind early on (some time around early in the year). I don't know. I'm not entirely sure this is what you want to hear.

You don't have a steering wheel yet? Or is it that you don't have a steering wheel for the X1 yet? Either way, I think you should go with the X1 simply because you don't have a steering wheel for PlayStation at the moment or the near future. Come on, we/I know what you want for Christmas...candy!

You kinda answered your own question. No point getting a console if the games don't interest you. Even more so when it'll be cheaper later on and its issues will have come to light.

Driveclub delay could eventually boost XBONE seles, because of Forza 5.
One simply cannot release a new console without a racing game.

Not that I care about Driveclub (I'm a Racecar head) but I do understand the concern of all PS4 customers.

I bought my PS3 on release day. It was a mistake, because all I did was play demos until GT5P came along.

To this day the only games I have bought and played on the PS3 are Gt5p, gt5 and F12010.

Cancel the Ps4 pre order until something worth playing comes out. No brainer really, it's just a lump of hardware otherwise. Particularly the case now the chipsets inside the next gen machines a just nicely spec'd PCs.

No matter how many times I read things like this it still amazes me. Why would you buy a console and then barely use it?

That assumes buying a small amount of games is the same thing as not playing them very much.

The PS3 has been worth it to me just as a Gran Turismo playing machine. And I've played my fair share of it, that's for sure.

I'm into realistic racing games (simulators) and have a good and fun racing rig. Looks like I might be able to use it with the PS4 still, so that's a plus (compared with the Xbox One...). My only concern is we also use our PS3 at home as our main means of entertainment and media playback. We not only stream videos, movies and music from the PC onto the PS3 (PS3 Media Server is awesome!) but we also have the Play TV peripheral for the PS3 to watch, pause/rewind and record free to air TV. So for us to buy a PS4, I have to first make sure it can do all our PS3 does and that we can still use our current peripherals.

So our plan is to keep the PS3 for another year (or at least 6 months), enjoy GT6, keep using my racing wheel and rig and other PS3 peripherals and then upgrade to a PS4 once I know for sure our current peripherals will work or at least the PS4 equivalents are out.

Are there really no other games you want to play on it?

Nope, I tried Burnout Paradise a while back. It was ok, not exciting enough to shell out time and money. GT5 took up most of my limited time. I'm not into killing things these days, so that pretty much wipes out 90% of the playstation games library.

The rest of any limited gaming time is spent with the wife and kids playing Mario Galaxy or some other Wii game.

Getting off topic here but if killing people isn't your bag have you tried Rayman Origins and Legends? Best 2D platformers in years, super fun.

I wonder if GT6 will be released this year as it seems it will be released with quite fundamental stuff as placeholders if they keep to original date.

Don't get a wheel unless you're 100% sure it will be compatible with the PS4 in my opinion.

...unless you think using it with GT6 on the PS3 for a couple of years will be worth it...

Now, that's right. Yep, didn't notice there was another page...

(said I was a newbie.) cue the abuse... lol
