Cancel PS4 preorder for GT6?

Well for me it is a no brainer. I will get GT6 and enjoy it. I will probably get a PS4 near the release date of GT7. I have never bought a console at release and likely never will, they are pricey and have few games available at first.

I was considering an XB1 due to Forza 5 coming out but after hearing that my wheel was probably not going to work with it that pretty much killed the XB1 and FM5 so GT6 will be the game I am playing this winter and hopefully project cars will release for the PC in the spring and I will grab a copy of that as well.

Seeing that Driveclub's delay has now been official, that may sway you more toward picking up gt6. Also, according to some leaked Gamestop black friday ads, it would appear that they'll be selling a PS3+The Last Of Us bundle for $200, which for a new console is a good deal.

Personally, I'm going the GT6 route.
Drive Club didn't really peak my interest and without a solid racing title, no console is worth it to me.
I seriously considered buying an Xbone, as Forza 5 looks great, unfortunately Microsoft continues it's legacy from the 360 of not playing nice with steering wheels that work with PS and PC systems. And I love my G25.
If the PS4 does not support the G25, then when they finally release GT7, I will look for a new wheel, and hopefully there will be a wheel which is usable on the PS4 and the Xbone.

I just found out Target won't be shipping (2nd wave) preorders until JANUARY!!! I'm canceling my DC PS4 preorder and I'll be getting my new Yellow Pro-Ject Debut Carbon instead. GT6 will suffice until GT7 releases on PS4. Yes, the gotta have it PS4 hype will be hard to resist. But, there are more important things than buying a console that doesn't have any games I want to play.

Thanks Dave! I was really hoping you would write the same post in multiple threads that you plan to cancel your PS4 preorder and buy your project yellow whatevers.

I don't understand how this is even a question.. a long time member with over 5000 posts on a Gran Turismo fan site unsure if the $60 is a waste of money (assuming you have a working PS3). I don't think Driveclub would be anything spectacular besides from a graphics perspective, and the fact you don't even own a wheel (DFGT will likely also work on PS4) makes it even more questionable what you're trying to get out of a racing game... I agree owning a PS4 at launch is pretty cool for other reasons... but in my opinion do yourself a favour and get a steering wheel for GT6.. you'll be surprised how much a change it'll be to switch over... should take a few weeks to get used to it and after that yo can enjoy good racing with the hopefully excellent physics change.

You're welcome. Same post, same thought, different threads in different sub-forums. Not everyone is subscribed to the same threads in every forum. Not everyone monitors the "Current" tab in the app.

The point of it being, the length of time from day 1 shipments to the 2nd wave of preorders.

...unless you think using it with GT6 on the PS3 for a couple of years will be worth it...

Now, that's right. Yep, didn't notice there was another page...

(said I was a newbie.) cue the abuse... lol

Fresh blood *Evil laugh*

but yes you're right although I certainly don't think a year or 2 of playing just one game is reason enough to merit a wheel purchase .

No matter how many times I read things like this it still amazes me. Why would you buy a console and then barely use it?

It shouldnt really matter to you how other people spend their money:)

I bought a PS3 for GT5, and I have right now three games for PS3, over the years I have bought other games for it, I also have a Xbox that I buy no games for, there are not a lot of games that I want to spend my time playing, being in my 30s with a family, gaming has to take a back a seat, and so I am not going to waste my time buying and playing games that I have no real interest in.

It seemed to me your point was to advertise that link that has nothing to do with either thread.

Next time I'll just use as few words as possible, like "Target, Ps4, January, cancelled". No I don't work for Pro-Ject, wife and son work for Target though, LOL

Oddly, Target.com cancelled both of my DC Bundles for me. But hey, they camera will ship Nov 15th.

Back on topic, I almost have my cousin convinced to jump ship and get a PS3. It helps when most of the games he wanted to play on PS4 are also on PS3, and SONY has given us no info on what will be on Geikai I( call it PSN Game Stream)

Target is really doing people wrong. Canceling the PS4 preorders automatically then telling them they can preorder again soon on a first come first served basis soon that is open to anyone. Just honor your original preorders with a new bundle or system only. I would be furious if I thought I had a system through Target and they tell me nope, but you can have a chance if beat all the people who haven't yet preordered on next Friday. Bad business decision.

I'm not into killing things these days, so that pretty much wipes out 90% of the playstation games library.
How on earth do you get the idea that the PS3 has the same library as the 360? Since SEGA bailed on the console market, the Playstations have had the most diverse libraries in gaming. But since you only care about racing like a few other here, I guess games are just games.

I'm kind of torn too, though. I'd like to get Killzone and Knack, but like many of you, it would be more convenient to wait for a few more games to git the market. But Need For Speed - sorry, Project Gotham - sorry, Drive Club doesn't interest me in the slightest. I keep dallying with the idle fantasy of getting Forza 5, which will likely be a good game, but that $900-ish cost to jump in for one game on The ONE is a Christmas budget biter that I just can't handle. So is that TV I want... might have to wait on a lot of goodies for the sake of happy faces on the extended family.

So, looks like an early Gran Turismo Christmas for Earth and me both. ;)

By the way, Drive Club a AAA title?? I think it has three too many A's, personally...

How many more times are you going to mention this $900 Forza 5 price in threads nothing to do with Forza or Xboxe One? Plus where did bodger say the PS3 library was the same as 360?

Very sad that two AAA launch titles for PS4 will be delayed. Hope, at least GT6 will be released on time.

Hmm ... There are many games like AC4 which has 60min more gameplay on PS4. There are many good games and of course DS4 which looks so sexy. I would buy that if it worked with PS3 :grumpy:

I really have no idea what's on the 360. I don't own one. I don't recall bringing the 360 up.

I don't have time these days to play a lot of games, but when I do they are usually games I play with the kids.

I have done a bit of iRacing recently. Don't really have the time for that though.

When I occasionally walk into an old world video games shop these days, I see mostly killing. I don't think this is isolated to any one platform. Nor is it a new phenomenon.

I'll buy PS4 if I know that GT7 will be on it. And probably I will buy it few days before GT7 release.

Yeah I'm with Sasek, I might even buy the GT7 bundle of the time, I'm sure the combo will be cheaper than the PS4 release price, and they'll be potentially more games I'll want on it by then too.

Do what I'm gonna do man.

Don't get a PS4 until Gran Turismo 7 comes out.

By that time the PS4 should have went down in price or they will have a special deal somewhere on one.

It would be the first GT launch to be on time if it does. Not to mention by a year based on previous GT releases.

My fingers are crossed.

Well, it'd also be under the average time for a GT release if you look at this small summary.

uwnc.png

Gran Turismo A are the averages, the average date, but most importantly the average amount of days, and that translated into years. Gran Turismo 6's "scheduled" release is basically a month above average.

If this average is extrapolated out, taking into account Kaz's statement that GT7 will be out in 'a year or two', a fair guess would be, technically 15/01/2017, but more likely Christmas 2016 imo (even though a couple of years is only two, its a new system, so unless even if it's development now, I still think it'd be the average time).
