Can't go back to GT6 after playing AC

I'd rather pay the sales tax in BC than drive 12 hours. The savings probably wouldn't even pay for the gas. I probably won't get another computer just for racing games, I can't really justify that. Maybe if I win the lottery or something.

Well to be honest, Rfactor2 doesnt use the most upto date parts. So just see what you need to change. Can't be that much

I guess if I had to replace my current computer, I could end up using it solely for racing games. But by that time the computer might not be able to run those games.

I would love to be in iRacing or AC, i like hotlapping its all i ever do really in GT6, am not into racing everyday, i raced no abs heavy damage for a year, all i enjoy really is TT's an getting in a car an just doing 40Laps then trying another, i like a competitive race every weekend but not everyday.

I dont know much about what all i need an whats the best equipment, i know i need Monitor an good wheel etc but apart from that my knowledge isnt great on whats best to get started.

Well, I can almost say I haven't touched AC since I got GT6. The last couple of weeks I've only taken an occasional run on Joux Plane. Other than that its been GT6. Its all about content. Really looking forward to the next update for AC.

Well the minimum specs aren't that demanding.

Minimum PC requirements:
OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1
Processor: AMD Athlon X2 2.8 GHZ, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHZ
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 10.1 (AMD Radeon HD 6450, Nvidia GeForce GT 460)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 15 GB available space
Sound Card: Integrated

And I would imagine that most pc's nowadays can do these specs no sweat.
My own is self built, but its overkill and too much for most sims.
Dual xeon processors, evga sr-2 and sli graphics. But most sims aren't coded for sli graphics as they recognise that most people don't have sli. Rfactor isn't coded and you gain nothing for sli. I run this because I'm learning to mod. So the 3d models gain from all the power.

Yeah, it's not a reasource hog at all, atleast at the moment.

I have a GTX560, which is lower mid-end card I guess. And still runs a nice and steady, and looks much nicer in motion compared to GT6, without jaggies, flickers, stutters etc. 👍

Agreed. I just cant be doing with gt6 anymore. I havent tried a ps4 but my pc got more flexibility than a closed consol. So thats the way i'm going now

You will be happy you did. About 15 months ago curiosity got the best of me and I downloaded iracing on to my laptop to see what everyone was on about. That was all it took. A month later I had a gaming pc hooked up. Since then Ive added triple screen, upgraded my g27 shifter to a TH8 shifter, bought simvibe for my buttkicker and purchased the CSW. That's all money Id of never invested in console gaming.

You missed my point, I meant moving your rig to where your PC is so as to make your PC your permanent sim racing platform. GT is great for starting out, but sooner or later you'll want more.

Ain't that the truth. I built my PC in june and i couldn't imagine ever going back to consoles. I've been playing GTR2 alot lately for some AI racing when i get tired of hotlapping on AC. And even that is in a completely different league then GT or forza in my opinion.

I just tried it on my g27. even though its still being developed and it only has 180c steering it is more fun in this game to run laps around the same tracks that are in gt6, better physics, ffb and ****ing hell, the sound beats the crap out of gt6 samples.

180 deg steering? No it has full 900. My first guess is you don't have logitech profiler running. (and set to 900deg)

Is G27 showing up on your profiler or is the name of the wheel different? e.g. Driving Force Wheel

Hope you din't get the same Logitech wheel symptom as I have with only 180 degree and no working clutch. I have to restore my whole system after that frustrating times. :lol

Sounds quite weird, not very common I guess. Hopefully it was just the profiler not on. Happened to me a few times in various games (forgot to launch it), resulting in 180 or 200deg steering.

My clutch works its just the 180 degree "issue", my drivers detect it as g27.

EDIT: Its incorrect driver settings, just set it to 900 and tested it and it works, will play the game later, then go back to gt6 and see If I suffer that 'shock' that @OldF@rt had.

I tried AC today too. While it is better in many things, the huge difference in content makes me go back to GT6. Yeah the sounds are better but are not THAT amazing. I haven't observed the physics in either game much, I just drive and I have to say they are not very different. The FFB is different though, still can't say it is THAT much better.
It is nice not missing gears, though.

Not to sound arrogant or like an ass. To say the physics are not very different is crazy.

I really didn't spend much time with AC, but overall to me it felt kinda similar. The way you get feedback is different-both through FFB and sounds.
What do you guys find different about the physics?

I think by far the biggest difference is in the tires. The way they grip, the way they lose grip, regain grip when reaching the limit and how they react when approaching that limit, is really the key. There's also a better sense of weight and balance. The way the cars move on their suspensions in transient maneuvers, they way they drive under braking. The cars may behave in similar ways but it's clear in Assetto Corsa there is a much thicker brush painting the picture and you get the immediate sense that the game is running through about 4 times as many calculations per second as it is in GT.

The importance of weight transfer and managing it, especially on road tuned cars. How the balance of the cars changes especially, GT6 has improved on how it handles weight transfer but it's still nothing on Assetto Corsa.

The tyre model and how it behaves at the edge of grip, which is where you spend the majority of your time when you're pushing hard. That you get to adjust important parameters like tyre pressure, and have a selection of tyre types appropriate to the car rather than some generics.

That it doesn't have an assist that's frequently forced on that changes the physics entirely.

I bought AC Early Access 3 days ago and from my point of view, it's really stunning. Pretty much everything was said here before so nearly nothing to add.
I will continue to play both games, AC and GT6. The online-friends I found on GT6 will stay there and are cool people, only one or two of them are willing to buy a decent PC to get into AC and/or pCARS.
That's it, to sum up I'd say GT6 is a funny game with (once found) a decent community while AC will be a hardcore Simulation, which is just "too much" for the majority of players.
I can race in both worlds.:)
