This gem was at the 2018 auto show for the new Jetta.

I've grown quite fond of those little things since learning of the decorative crease in the rear pillar that follows the door gap and angles to match the trunklid. I'd never paid enough attention to them to notice such a minor detail.

The Citi Golf, produced in South Africa from 1984 to 2009, features a similar detail where the standard Golf in other markets did not.

I don't like to re-post something so similar and so soon after (two posts ago was an MkI Golf), but note the difference between the two.
